A typical very short romance story. Willow's mother has recently died and while cleaning out her stuff, she finds letters from a woman in Salmon Lake who was clearly her mother's lover. She remembers visiting the place every summer as a child. She meets Gabriel the first night she's there; they both think the other looks familiar but can't place it.
This is a bit of a pet peeve to me, but I don't like how fast they jump into bed without any discussion of safe sex. It's so disrespectful. I mean, they're at a restaurant, he confirms the photo she has is his mother, then she says she doesn't feel well. He walks her back to her place, and as soon as they get there, they start to kiss, go into the house and hop into bed, no foreplay or anything. It certainly isn't particularly romantic.
They figure out that her mother's lover was his mother, who died when he was young, causing him to be in the foster care system. He went into the military right out of high school and then came back when his service was over.
After the usual angst over her not telling him about their mothers being lovers immediately, they get back together and decide that it is fate or something; that their mothers couldn't be together because of society, but now they are together.
Willow never says anything about her life before coming to Salmon Lake, but it didn't seem like she was planning on giving up her old life. Nor did she ever say anything about baking and then suddenly she's opening a bakery after she decides to stay with Gabriel. It just seems disjointed.
The story has all the right plot points, and the idea was a good one, but it just didn't have much emotional impact to me.

We have already arrived at book 4 of the Rangers in Alaska Series. This is a great series. This is the story of how Willow and Gabriel meet. Their story is not an easy one, despite the attraction and the chemistry between them, there are still plenty of things that are not clear. Why Willow comes to Salmon Creek to find an old friend of her mother's. And what is she hiding? A smile, a tear, secrets and much more are on offer such as what the past and present have to do with Gabriel and Williow. To get answers I advise you to read a book, it is very worthwhile. The storylines and build-up, characters and characters are all well described by Ms Evans. You are completely sucked into the story and you empathize with the characters. In short, highly recommended!

Willow and Gabriel's story is one of friendship, love and romance.
Willow did not grow up in Salmon Falls, but her mother would take her when she would visit her friend. After her mother's death, she found letters that lead her back to Alaska.
Gabriel met Willow and something felt familiar, soon he realized she was the young girl that he would play with when his mother's friend came to visit and soon Willow realizes who his mom was to her mother.
This is a heart grabbing story on various levels, and to realize there are parts of our parents that we did not know about.

I enjoyed reading Gabriel. Emily created an interesting relationship for Gabriel and Willow - I wanted more by the time I finished the book. I loved the tension that was created between them - why Willow was there and her connection to Gabriel in ways they remembered and didn't know. (The story with their mothers was such an interesting twist - I kind of want a story about them and their history!) They seemed to be great together! I would recommend this.

Gabriel is the first person that she makes eye contact with and the sparks fly. Little do they know that their lives are intertwined and fate may have stepped in.
Willow is looking for answers after finding some letters and a picture with her mother’s stuff. And that is why she decides to visit Salmon Lake to find the answers to her questions. Gabriel thinks Willow looks familiar to him, but he doesn’t know why. I found this story rushed and lacking development. I just absolutely loved Willow and Gabriel’s story.. We as humans don’t know what things were really like for our parents lives while we were growing up. It makes our parents and loved ones better people for what they hid and didn’t tell us until after their death.
This short instalove romance has a little different storyline. I love the characters and how they deal with the circumstances. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC.
