Misfolded Prions
Cattle but not pigs.
Cats but not dogs.
Sheep but not goats.
Squirrels but not rabbits.
Prions cannot be killed because they are not alive. Prions can be destroyed at temperatures above 700 degrees F. Autoclaving does not destroy Prions. Prions thrive on stainless and mild steel.
The dormancy period for Prion Disease can be as much as 50 years
