John Weiss's books are food for your soul. Creative writing that causes one to think, reflect, and react. I have followed his writings for years, and this book is aptly titled. Elegant essays. On topics that do really matter. This is a book to read and read again at a later time.
My first encounter with Mr J Weiss was on Medium. I have faithfully followed him because I consider him a person with great sensitivity, sharp when it comes to writing, with a wonderful eye when he takes photographs of life in black and white and allows us to perceive ourselves as we really are. When he shares photos of his travels, the text that accompanies themy allows to enjoy the place, the moment, life! His family and cat remembrances touch our deepest feelings. The love for his wife is inmense and I wish them to cross the sickness bridge supported by their love. Mr John Weiss, congratulations for this essays, for your work, for the gift that you have and thank you for letting us join you in your wonderful journey.
I received this book as a Christmas gift and could not have been happier. I have been a long term subscriber to John’s Saturday letters and look forward to them each week. But now I have a complete book of John’s thought provoking works. The book is a collection of short essays covering a wide range of topics and with an even bigger variety of characters. Each essay will cause you to pause and think, something rare to find these days. John’s style is easy to read and each short story will capture you and have you both looking forward to finding out what happens, while also not wanting the story to end. I highly recommend this book and strongly believe every reader will feel better for having invested the time in reading it, at least once, but you will read it again.
Reading the latest book of essays from John P. Weiss was like being in the company of a wise, thoughtful and understanding friend. Mr. Weiss brings to his writings his years of observation of his fellow man and himself, written with a keen and at the same time a kind eye. It is such a pleasure to pick this book up and know that whatever the topic of the essay is, there will be gems of deep consideration and insight contained within. This is the type of book that you can open to any page in the moment and be transfixed by the beautiful language and life lessons contained within.
I've been following John's work for around 5 years now. His writing and his weekly newsletters are something that I always look forward to.
His essays and heartwarming stories make you feel good about life. The positive, warm, and uplifting tones that his writing has is something I try to copy in my own writing as well.
This book is a collection of some of his best essays and I think it is a perfect gift for anyone looking to read some inspiring essays on life.
I've followed John's writings for a number of years, since his "Memories Are Roses In Our Winter" in January 2016 moved me. Even though I have the essays from this book in a folder, they are so intelligent and often beautiful, that I wanted the collection all together in this book. I've already (re-)read them - it's like a reunion with old friends - and enjoy them all the more. John is a treasure in our current times and his essays help to keep a person anchored. And also, somehow more free.
Having been a follower of JP Weiss for several years, his latest volume is rich and full of modern day parables. An easy and contemporary read, it displays both empathy and wisdom to the reader in a creative and personal way. I have given several copies to friends and family members as it is a soul touching work!
I am currently reading one essay in the morning when I have coffee. I am then able to think about essay & what it means in my life. In the evening I read another one to ponder.
Thought provoking. I am so glad I bought this book. After reading author's body weekly blog, I am so happy when this book became available. Highly recommended
