Gertty Rudraw is an indie romance author who has taken the genre by storm with her popular series. She writes both contemporary and paranormal page-turning romances . Readers consume faster than she can produce. And you will be pretty happy about that!
She lives with her husband and two awesome sons in Sedona, enjoying plenty of farm animals, and devotes her life to writing stories. If you are looking for romantic books with alpha heroes who have to contend with sassy heroines then you might just love Gertty’s novels.
Well I didn’t expect to read this books so fast. Few hours and it was over and kinda gutted.
Gertty Rudraw is a new author I’ve never come across before so seeing her book aka The Wrong alpha on one of my fb books groups with a lot of good reviews I had to see what the fuss was about. Let me tell you this book didn’t let me down, A proper shifter story, brilliant plot. Some good twists, a genuine, fun and refreshing FMC with the perfect alpha who definitely fits his role well 😍
It’s fast paced but doesn’t feel rushed.
Only thing il say and that’s just me, I didn’t get the epilogues. I don’t think they were needed but again that is me. The end was perfect.
Not one for me sorry. I didn't like the insta love with little interactions between them. The only real believable relationship was between zoe and fmc. I only read it all to see what would happen with them at the end and it was kind of anticlimactic. I did like the twist with slade.
So the storyline left me feeling like I was missing out... and the fmc just bothered me. She was weak and pathetic. I understand wanting to have a strong mc and then a weaker fmc, but she upset me. She was needy and fell in love instantly, not like 'recognize your fated mate and immediately have feelings'.... she was just sad and in love for no real reason. And she was super naive in her mindset. And the smutty parts of the book were written like a person who wasn't actually sure they wanted to be writing them in the first place.
The potential is there but the book is imbalanced. Dual POV, the genre is shifter. The h is a unique “something” but apart from mere side mentions of this, this is not made into a big deal. She is humiliated at her own mating ceremony with the pack alpha when he chooses another. We are hardly given any background for this, bot about her feelings. What should have been the most humiliating moment of her life, is described in shallow details, even if it is to show that she did not have very deep feelings for the ditching alpha, it was still very shallow.
There are “emotional jumps” that I had a hard time understanding. It’s like the author took a break from writing and when she returned, she had a slightly different grasp as to where her reader is with regards to how developed the characters are. Considering this is a “shifter world”, some of the things the heroine does or feels do not really fit (assuming you read a few shifter books).
The H is slightly better and more balanced as a character, and yet still appears to be a lot of cliches mending together.
This book was a good try, and enjoyable, but I am still debating whether I want to try anymore in the series.
The first story in this book was decently written. It made me feel emotions. The last two epilogues were unnecessary and contradictory for the end of the book in the MMC POV. If it had stopped there, I would have rated it a 4 star.
However, it did not stop there and two additional stories came afterwards. The writing was atrocious with grammatical errors, using words incorrectly, and so much repetition it drowned out the plot of the story. The character dialogue was also forced and unnatural. It honestly read like AI was translating a foreign book and doing so poorly. The first story did not read the same way the last two did and it seems as though it’s different authors.
I was not expecting additional stories as the synopsis did not indicate there would be. The third story randomly cuts off after a single chapter.
I had such a hard time reading the rest of this. I skipped paragraphs and towards the end, entire chapters. The book doesn’t continue counting after 256 pages, so I’m not sure if the additional stories are not meant to be there. If this is the case, please correct the ebook to show the first story.
The Wrong Alpha by Gertty Rudraw is a 4 ⭐️ read. Erin was ditched by her supposed mate for another on what should’ve been her mating day, she was hurt and decided to get drunk and burn down a sacred tree for her pack but she met another shifter as she was attempting it, she knew he wasn’t from her pack but wondered if he was from the pack everyone fears. Roman is a businessman, he’s also a billionaire and has a big secret, he’s called the Shadow Alpha because he’s a kill first ask questions later kind of Alpha, when he meets Erin he knows she’s his fated mate but he doesn’t believe he deserves one but he is very drawn to her. I really enjoyed this story, the characters were very likeable. I would recommend it.
I have to say, I was confused until about 50%. Each chapter starts with a paragraph of conversation of unknown characters. This was the authors way of showing “flashbacks” to the night of the main characters first meeting.
Disappointed that the characters didn’t really gain any true depth through the book. Not much dialog outside of the “memory” parts.
Epilogues 2 and 3 also would have made way more sense to be in the actual book? Instead we just get to re-read scenes that have already happened (but also epilogue 2 is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than what took place just chapters before????) and get tiny bits of extra detail.
⭐️ 3.9 Average? It had good and bad parts. Probably my biggest gripe is they quickly flashed through bits of the plot I would have thought would be great to hear, but it was never touched.
The romance was a little disjointed. It felt like a big jump from kind of liking him/her to being in love, and I get it if it’s a slow burn where the main characters don’t realise they’re falling for each other, but when there’s a lack of dialogue about it, I expect to see actions. For example, they don’t have to say that they care about their significant other, but they do have to show it through actions. I don’t think what was shown was enough for me in this book.
It was cool reading about psychopaths. It was great that she wasn’t a perfect shifter. It was enjoyable enough to finish.
I did like the characters of Erin & Roman. I wasn't struck on Luke what a waste of piece shifter he was. The story between Erin & Luke was skirted round & the fact that he dumped her on their wedding day wasn't really in the story in enough detail. A couple of proper chapters at the beginning of the book on Erin & Luke before Roman's introduction would've made the book better. The two epilogues were slightly pointless especially as the actual last chapter had been set 5 years later so the epilogues were a tad confusing. Author could do with a decent editor before publishing as lots of grammatical & use of tense errors which spoil what had the potential to be a good book.
The 2 stories in this book had a great concept, characters and plots, but the writing just wasn't that great. There were a lot of grammar mistakes and some contradictions in the story. I understand the writer was trying to keep it interesting with all the struggles the main characters were facing, but honestly, it just got ridiculous and boring. The Alpha became too emotional and touché feelie type. I understand they were trying to show their for the main female character, but it went way too far. I won't be reading another book by this author again.
Unsure of what I just read. The female character is a weak half shifter half human who all she does is cry & make stupid mistakes. She was left in the Altar by the alpha who she was suppose to married. Then we find male hero who is pretty “suppose” to be strong but really is not. He allows the heroine to get hurt & kidnapped & doesn’t really do anything to defend or protect her. The story itself was hard to keep up since there was way to many grammatical errors & in 1 page he was naked & in the other page he is wearing clothes 🤷🏽♀️
I enjoyed this story about half shifter Erin and Alpha Roman. Erin thought she would mate with her childhood best friend but in the evening of their mating ceremony, he brought another woman with him. To say Erin was humiliated and embarrassed was an understatement. One night she decided to get very drunk and burn down a sacred tree. That was the same night she met Roman. He actually saved her from doing something regrettable but didn't waste her gasoline; that went on her Alpha and former best friend's house! 🔥read.
There storyline and plot of the book were okay, but the characters had no depth. It was like being told what emotions they should be feeling but you didn't believe they actually did.
The female lead was also weak. She just kept getting emotionally and physically beat by everyone. Also she's more than human less than shifter but never develops any power.
Additionally the three epilogues just show the author couldn't make up her mind about what should happen either.
Lots of errors: "faithful" when it should have been "fateful"; "park" when it should have been "pack". There were some words used that doesn't make sense but I couldn't tell what the author meant.
That aside, it was a decent story. I would have liked more of Roman's POV.
Despite its length, it was a quick, fun read (when ignoring the errors)...
The story was OK. I think the book would have been much more successful if we had seen more interaction and emotion and connection between the H and h. By the end of the story, I did not like the H. At all. His lack of ability to put Zoe in her place, to take care of the h, or to just not be an @ss, made him not fit the bill of a H.
I liked this book a lot, actually, but I was surprised to find out that Erin never shifted after finding her true mate in Roman. But overall, I still enjoyed it! I would've rated it 5 stars, but the epilogue were confusing and not needed. Maybe they were meant to be called alternate endings?
An amazingly sweet steamy romantic story of a woman who didn't think she would ever find her mate and the mate who found her. This is a romantic suspenseful page turner with charmingly complex characters that I recommend. A preciously romantic happily ever after story.
I would have liked it better it the male lead didn’t have a more intense and in depth relationship with his ex right up until the very last pages in the female lead perspective.
There was no chemistry between the H/h. Story was seriously lacking in worldbuilding, and pretty boring. Then there was the 3 bizarre epilogues at the end, apparently to offer different endings. Just no. Don't waste your money.
It's not a bad read at all finished in one day, too. Storyline is strong, and so are the characters. The ending was perfect, too. The only thing that got me was the epilogue. I don't think the last 2 were needed. It would have still been perfect with just the first one.
The story was good but didn’t feel like there was enough interactions between Erin and Roman, the story seemed to mainly play out for, their inner musings. Just want more and it would have been a 5 star from me.
Loved everything about Roman Bancroft and his dark nature. I wish Erin’s shifter issue came out but still loved how it turned out. Great read ! Highly recommend!!
Ok. A lot of things. First there’s some grammar errors which drive me nuts. I thought the store would be better. I was hoping that Erin would be more kick ass character.
First read by this author and over 300 pages which is unusual lately. But all the epilogues at the end was weird and repetitive and also confusing. This is book one but don't think they link together?
I throughly enjoyed this book as well as its characters. I recommend this book that will grip your attention from the beginning for reading late into the night.
