The potential is there but the book is imbalanced.
Dual POV, the genre is shifter.
The h is a unique “something” but apart from mere side mentions of this, this is not made into a big deal.
She is humiliated at her own mating ceremony with the pack alpha when he chooses another.
We are hardly given any background for this, bot about her feelings. What should have been the most humiliating moment of her life, is described in shallow details, even if it is to show that she did not have very deep feelings for the ditching alpha, it was still very shallow.
There are “emotional jumps” that I had a hard time understanding. It’s like the author took a break from writing and when she returned, she had a slightly different grasp as to where her reader is with regards to how developed the characters are.
Considering this is a “shifter world”, some of the things the heroine does or feels do not really fit (assuming you read a few shifter books).
The H is slightly better and more balanced as a character, and yet still appears to be a lot of cliches mending together.
This book was a good try, and enjoyable, but I am still debating whether I want to try anymore in the series.
