On the day she foiled Adam Cavanaugh’s attempt to ask her younger sister to the prom, Temple D’Amico made it clear she thought the Kingsbrier Quintuplets were selfish and entitled. Years later, Adam is beginning to believe Temple had a point. Maybe not about all of them. Maybe about four of the five of them... Definitely about him. Because the first time Adam lied to his family was before quitting medical school. And keeping the ruse hasn’t gotten easier. Now, Adam’s past is catching up with him. It’s time to prove to everyone that he’s ready to become a man they can learn to rely on. There’s no one better to teach him than a good woman like Temple. Except the more Adam nurtures a fragile friendship with the enemy, the more enticing the woman whose standards he’ll never reach becomes. The last thing Adam would have guessed was that Temple’s perfect life was an illusion. When she admits she’s having a hard time keeping her heart out of the equation, too, Adam’s conscience compels him to reveal the truth. But will his deception stop Temple from trusting anyone ever again?
Jody Kaye writes interconnected steamy contemporary romance, including the unbridled Kingsbrier Quintuplets and the emotionally charged, multi-generational southern Shattered Hearts of Carolina series.

I really enjoyed this book. I know I say that about each one but each one is truly great. Adam wants to ask Temple's sister Tessa to the prom. However an encounter leads him to think Temple may be the right girl for him. Years go by and they run into one another again. The attraction is immediate but Temple is not a woman to be easily swayed. They develop a friendship that will hopefully help Adam admit some hard truths. Their friendship blooms into more the more time they spend together. Maybe Adam wasn't wrong all those years ago and Temple truly is the woman for him.I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. Adam was the first book I've read by Jody, but I can tell you right now it won't be my last. It didn't even matter that I read these out of order, since she did a wonderful job of explain what was going on. Now, I'm excited to start at book one and work my way through the Quints.
I am a HUGE fan of Jody Kaye! I was hooked the instant I started reading Cavanaugh, the precursor story to the Kingsbrier Quints series, and nothing I have read since has disappointed me! Adam, book 4 in the series, is Adam's story. The oldest of the Quints, by only minutes, and heir to the Kingsbrier fortune, Adam has been running from his family, his legacy, and the expectations that come with being the eldest and heir. Expected to take over the family business, Adam chooses instead to go to medical school and become a doctor; however, that didn't happen. He left med school for the military, and never clued anyone in. Now, Adam has been discharged and his family is still none the wiser. Adam keeps up the facade, while working for a security firm far, far from home. Unsettled, and unsatisfied with the man he has become, he knows he needs to come clean with his loved ones, but he wants to be able to show them proof that he is becoming a man that they can be proud of before doing so. Of course, that never works, as lie piles upon lie, and just digs Adam further into the hole. I really loved Adam's story. I laughed and I ugly cried. Jody has that effect on me. Her story-lines are engaging from the start, full of emotion, and you never know what is coming next. The characters are so well developed that I feel as if I know them. It is fun coming back to this series and the characters that I love so much - in fact, I am going back through and reading them again. I believe that while Adam is book 4 in the series, it could be read as a stand-alone. There is a backstory that would be missing; however, Jody does an outstanding job of weaving the stories together, and allowing you to understand the intricacies and dynamics of the relationships without having to go back to the start. I highly recommend reading the entire series, though, as I know you will love the family as much as I do! ❤️❤️
Quick Note- Make sure that you read the other books in the series because it will make a lot more sense when you open this up. I was lucky enough to receive a free copy of the book to read and review honestly! All of the books build on each other and we already know about Adam into this book and his faults....
I have to say that out of all of the quintuplets, Adam is my least favorite. that doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy this book, I just did not connect with him as much. I did think that Temple was the perfect match for him and I liked seeing how everything unfolded between them and how the entirety of the series was unfolding as well. The ending had me begging to keep reading the rest of the books to know what was going to happen!
Adam feels the burden of being the eldest sibling so when his plans for the future take an abrupt detour he doesn’t tell his family. He is now home for his sister’s wedding and he knows that he must come clean about his past and his future especially if he is going to have a real chance at claiming Temple, who stole a piece of his heart years ago.
This family has all the feels and this story is no exception.
Young Adam is the eldest amongst his siblings, and has always dealt with the notoriety of his family's fortune as well as the role he's presumed to uphold. Unsure of who to trust, he knows Tessa isn't like any of the girls at school and hopes to ask her to the prom. Temple has always been protective of her sister Tessa and knows enough about Adam's promiscuity. When they run into each other outside a restroom, Adam realizes that Temple may be the one for him. Years later, Adam runs into Temple and the attraction is still there but she is still distant. After a single night of drinking, the two bond and she starts to trust him. Thinking he will help her with her troubles, this would in some form redeem himself while trying to reveal his truth to his parents. Friendship blossoms into a relationship that have the two wanting more than just a simple companionship. Worthy!

This is a good, well written romance. The storyline is well-crafted with steam, drama, sexual attraction danger, intrigue, and a happy ever after. It also shows how lies and omissions can ruin your life and wellbeing
What more could you wish for?
You don’t need to have read the previous books in the series but it does help cement the story for you

So... I didn't realize this was the 4th book of the series and I'm definitely catching up with the previous ones. Adam is shrouded in lies after quitting med school and it's all coming to down in his sister's wedding and with his relationship with Temple.

Apparently this is the fourth book in this series and I haven't read any of the others but I did enjoy the way Adam after quitting medical school and all the lies are about to catch up with him he turns to Temple who he admires and thinks she has her life together when in fact she does not. Great story line and characters where wonderful just sorry I missed the other books.

What a great addition to this series! This is the fourth book in an interconnected standalone series - it can be read by itself or in any order, but I recommend reading these in order. Adam and Temple's story was everything I wanted it to be! Another Five Star read in this series!
This is the fourth book in the series and they really need to be read in order so you know who everyone is. I had enjoyed the previous book so was looking forward to Adams story and it did not disappoint. I liked both him and Temple and really enjoyed watching their relationship develop a really good addition to the series
Apparently this is the fourth book of this series and I would have liked to have read the others first to see where Adam fits into the family. After saying that this was a good read and I liked the characters but I will now have to read the others.

I am impressed with the story and characters it caught my attention from the beginning. I love how both the story and the characters were developed as well
I really enjoyed this story. It's well written with a great storyline and great characters. This is the fourth book in the series I'm looking forward to reading the first three.

Unfortunately I thought this was a standalone and jumped into the middle of the series, which made it difficult to connect all of he people. This is a large clan and I can see how much easier this one would have been to enjoy had I come in from the beginning. Adam shrouded in lies returns home to his sister's wedding. Time has passed and things he once thought were true now stand out and haunt him and everything he does. It's not just the lies from while he was away to his family but keeping them after moving forward in a relationship based on lies brings his whole world tumbling. It's a great read from an author new to me and I probably would have enjoyed it more had I been in from the start. But I do like this author's style so I may have to go back and catch up and try it over. Now this one is a cliff hanger leading to the next book.
We meet Adam starting in Eric, the first Kingsrbrier book, and have gotten little bits of his story in some of the other books in between. But overall he's been a mystery - mostly because he's been a mystery to his family. His career path went in a direction that he had mixed feelings about, so he kept that from his family, and the choices that he has made, plus the secrecy, have been eating at him. Then he meets Tempe, who has her own bad choices and secrets to contend with. Their relationship is pretty complicated, since Temple remembers him, and her dislike for him, from high school. It was interesting to hear more about Adam and what he's been doing, and what he works through to try to get his life figured out and get the girl that he falls in love with.
Not my favourite of the Kingsbrier Quintuplets series.
Just reread this for the second time. Thought my original reticence may have been the time lapse between Kingsbrier Quintuplet publications. But having only just re-read the series over the last week whilst on holiday I didn’t enjoy the story any more than the first time
Not sure whether it’s because I found the characters less likeable or because overall there were less family chapters, so felt more like a standalone.
Would still read as part of what has been a fantastic series, so there’s no disconnect when reading the next in the series.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book. I swear, I think I can't love this family anymore and then the next book comes out. Not sure if it was intentional, but I didn't really love Adam in previous books, but this one made me understand and LOVE him. Jody Kaye's writing hooks me from the beginning and then I cant stop. Now.....just waiting for more!
Adam was confused and messed up at the same time. He didn't want his family to be disappointed in him. No one does. The reality is that we wont please everybody at the same time. This book made you see how expectations and real life aren't always what you want it to be. It just is. Wonderful read.

Adam and Temple's story is an interesting one. I have not read this author before but I would read another one of her books. I would like to read the others in this series. I like the setting and the writing style. I quite enjoy reading this genre and think others who do will enjoy this book as well.
Great addition to the series. It was well written, interesting and kept my interest through the whole book. The storyline and characters were well thought out. It was a good read and I recommend it to all. I received it from booksprout and voluntarily reviewed it.
He has lied all his life and he knows he needs to clean up his act. He knows she is out of his reach but he wants to make his life better for her. Will he be able to? Will it work? See if he can
