The tattoo he got in my honor is almost too good to be true…
When the first boy you ever loved moves away without an explanation, it leaves a mark.
Now there’s a new doctor at the hospital where I work, and I can’t believe that it’s Anthony, because he’s different from how I remember.
He’s strong, confident, and sexy as hell with a tattoo I’ve never seen before. He says he got the tattoo after our first kiss, and it wasn’t his choice to leave town.
Apparently, it is forbidden for us to be together, but his tattoo signifies that we’re fated. Now that he’s back, the dark forces that have kept us apart will stop at nothing to destroy us, but he's determined to fight for me.
I don’t know if I can risk losing my heart to him again, but then he tells me that he has one more secret about himself that he’s always been burning to tell me…
Roxie Ray is a group of writer friends who love to write Sci Fi Alien Romance and Paranormal Romance. They love to talk, read and write this lovely genre. They hope you love their books and strive to make sure you have a steamy, wonderful experience!
Well, I should have quit this one partway through.
I was looking for some fluff to read as a break, and I do like Roxie Ray in terms of fluff. But I hadn't picked this one up because it's rare that I like a second-chance romance. For it to work for me, I have to feel like the wronged party isn't spineless, but rather, has the self-respect to demand better. I have to feel like the party who committed the wrong learned their fucking lesson and would do things differently if they could do it over. I have to feel like the FMC has some fucking agency, and isn't just a fucking weathervane tilting in whatever wind the male lead blows ... oh he doesn't want me? Okay, it's off. Oh, he does? Okay, it's back on. Fuck that. And most of all, I have to feel like the couple has learned and grown and changed enough that they are partners and equals, and will tackle any future problems together.
That's rarely the case, and it was definitely NOT the case here.
Everything about this book was disgusting to me. Fucking weak-willed pathetic women who let a guy dictate their entire life. I wonder if she asks him before she wipes her own ass, too.
This was like a fever dream and read like a Wattpad romance.
"OMG I found my fated mate, the one destined for me, in my best friend that I've crushed on my entire life, but she's human so I must leave and run away even though I am giant fire breathing dragon."
"Omg I have come back and found my mate again, I must stay away, even thought I am not alpha and boss and still fire breathing fucking dragon"
"Omg a jealous girl who thinks she deserves me is trying to murder my mate, nooooo"
So many awful overused tropes and plot "twists" you could see coming 2398 miles away in the air on a jet plane moving at mach speed.
So he knows who his mates is…leaves and hooks up with other women? What kind of crap is that? There are no others once you met your mate. He shouldn’t even be able to get it up for another or want to do this is completely a disgrace to mate romances. There is no romance when a mate cheats.
This author has a way with dragons that make me wish for one of my own. I enjoyed this second chance romance! The emotions are so real and raw that I felt like I was a part of the story. The characters are fantastic and I enjoyed the back and forth as these two found their way back to each other. Even the animosity from a select few, and the connections with the friends enhanced the reading experience. This was an amazing story and I can’t wait to see where the author takes this dragon clan next.
I read through as much as I could before I started skipping ahead. All I have to say is awful. Just awful. The big bad is just a jealous woman (talk about an overdone trope) and she didn't even have a true reason to be jealous. The MCs had the hardest time communicating like adults, the H running off for this and that instead. Just no substance here. I'm sorry I wasted my time.
Oh my gosh I can’t with this book. At the beginning the continuity was hit and miss as they waffled between him leaving right after the kiss to “oh yeah, we met at the park before he ditched my ass”. There was also the scene after Anthony returns where Tessa was surprised by his mating mark and hoping it was for her but she was at his 16th birthday when it appeared. I know he is a knew alpha, but Tessa got away with a lot of rudeness with little more than a tongue lashing one time. Then she brings in another dark witch and after all her shenanigans her big punishment is to not be able to shift.
This is supposed to be a fated mates book yet he LEFT his mate for 18 years without a fight on his dad’s orders. Yes, his dad was alpha, but he didn’t even argue with him at all or try to find a way to contact her despite the order not to. He told his parents he wouldn’t forgive them then next scene he is all happy go lucky with them. Yes, he was 16 at the time and I can give leeway for that, but I haven’t read a fated mates until now where they didn’t fight for their mate at all. Later his dad apologizes for sending him away for 18 years but only because he thinks Anthony will come to his senses and not try to be with Skye. He claims he might have considered bringing him home if he had asked over the years but you were his alpha that gave a direct order! In most fated mates books that mark/bond is sacred yet in this one his dad threw it away because she was human and looked into one case. At the end the clan witch gave him a list of names of prior cases - did no one think to ask the witch before?
The birth scene had me laughing. Not because it wouldn’t be cool for a witch to help in the birthing process but the way it was handled and the dialogue just didn’t work for me.
Second chance romance are pretty hit or miss for me and this was a definite miss.
DNF at 22% which is 138 pages into the fucking thing.
Sooo goddamn repetitive. It’s just been a cycle of seeing each other at work. Girls night. Saying he should have come back. Calling a meeting and flying.
138 pages of the same shit over and over and over again. I thought I could see where the book was going, but I just can’t. It was taking more brain power than I wanted to use to keep trying to read this. It’s pretty fucking boring, and if I’m still bored as fuck 138 pages into a damn book, how bored am I going to be to actually attempt to read the 600+ pages the book really is?
Also, they’re suppose to have this magical connection, or at least long lost love and I didn’t really get that while reading. She had moved on. He says he didn’t move on, but was down to bone some lady’s when he first moved back… meh.
*Rating: 3.5 - 4 stars** I’m always up for some paranormal fiction and enjoyed the plot of this story. The story sees alpha dragons finding their fated mates but traditionally it has always been dragon mates, but fate has thrown a spanner in the works and now they are finding themselves fated to human females. Humans don’t know their kind exist and they don’t feel a bond so revealing themselves can only be done if they are sure they are the one fate intended. As the women learn there is an entirely new world out there, and what fated means the story is rich with tension. But it’s not just the dragons’ stories each woman also has a problem that comes to light that their men will do anything to keep them safe. Emotions run high as the characters confront their circumstances, dealing with conflicting feelings of fear, hope, and longing. The presence of strong alpha males adds another layer of complexity to the tale. Amidst these challenges, there is also an undercurrent of playful interactions. Overall, it’s an interesting blend of love, action, and adventure that keeps you engaged from beginning to end.
Liked it enough to finish, but it was very average. It didn't live up to its summary blurb. Little to no emotional depth or character developement. The writing was very basic. Some words and phrasing used were just plain strange. I do not care enough about this world to continue the series.
Side note: PCOS is used a reason why the FMC is "infertile" and never got pregnant with her cheating fiance. That's not how that works and with very little research the author would know that. PCOS can make it more difficult to become pregnant, but it does not mean you're infertile. This didn't need to be a thing. Ray could have just chalked it up to "magic" and "fated mates" as the reason why Skye wasn't pregnant before. Also, Skye didn't tell her boyfriend/fiance of 8 years she had this condition and instead got blamed as "not wanting a baby" by him? Very dumb.
2nd side note: Skye's dad's best friend that's ALWAYS around named Cooter - is Ray trying to be funny with that name? I thought for sure in the end her dad was gonna tell her he was gay and Cooter was his partner.
The epilogue with Jace and Bri being fated mates looks like a cool intro to the next book, but it didn't make sense for Jace not to know Kaylee's and Bri's names when they have been hanging out in his bar and he's made sure they've gotten home safe before.

I read this on a whim, I don’t usually go for straight romantic fantasy stuff. The writing was fair, it was a fairly straightforward plot line, some steamy scenes. Actually more short story than novel. Not sure I’ll read the next in the series, maybe if I’m looking for a quick read.
I love me a good palette cleanser and this book definitely hit the spot. Everything moved a touch fast for me (I do so love my tension) but it wasn't Insta love so I'll take it haha
"Most everyone else just rattled off if they were a nurse or LPN, and so on."
LPNs/LVNs ARE nurses. That one sentence made me shut down, I won't even finish the book. What a slap in the face to LPNs/LVNs everywhere. And the sentence just prior to that about how Skye probably has her Master's in nursing after listing off her alphabet soup.....the author really needs to do some research, as a nurse practioner is a Master's level license.
The author is allergic to angst. Parents force him away from his mate for 18 years "I'll never forgive you for this", he does, immediately, he doesn't hold them accountable, doesn't do more than "I know you thought it best, but I believe different" all is forgiven. He completely ghosts his mate, no explanation...his mate, mad for 1 day and then a half apology filled with half truths. "I forgive you, past is the past" ... The author doesn't know how to build intrigue or angst in a book... it's boring. Characters don't have to work for apologies or grovel or anything, 7% in book, everything is forgiven. Why is there 93% more? Oh, because he's a dragon, and she's human. The author immediately moves away from an internal emotional struggle and to all external issues...making characters one dimensional. Boring
First off- this is a trash read. Not that I have anything against them, but I do like knowing beforehand choosing to read one. There is no depth or emotions for reader. It is a typical fated mates trope with typical big bad in the form of jealous chick. Shallow and very, very predictable. Simplistic. Still, not a bad read. The beginning is actually the best part of the book- there writing is better, there is some suspension building in just a couple of pages. If author would have continued in the same style, this may have turned out as a decent story. However, once the story continues "18 years later" , it is just the typical mass produced trash read that is great to take your mind off the everyday problems, but nothing to remember it by.
I do recommend it as a light read for those who are not seeking anything unique or deep.
Things that bothered me enough to stop reading at 48%,
-Way too many unnecessary descriptions. -All the medical info was unnecessary too. -Both were immature. -35 year olds clubbing? -he never thought to disobey his father to reconnect with his fated mate? Even when he was in his 30's?!
I find it odd this book was published 6 weeks ago and it already has 2400 ratings. That's very suspicious. Obviously they are fake! Thankfully, I got this book through KU and didn't waste my money on it.
This book follows longtime friends, Anthony, and Sky as they work through being in each other‘s lives again… Anthony has kept the secret from his best friend that he is a dragon shifter their entire friendship… When he kisses her at 16, he gets a tattoo that dragons get when they meet and touch their mate… He tells his parents and they send him away. There is not one case in history that they know of a dragon being made to a human… Apparently his dad did know of one and it did not go well. Not enough is explained through the lens of what it means to be a dragon, a mate or how that bond forms or really enough about the whole shifting world… This is a part of a series and it’s like the author smashed a bunch of small Novelas into one book… I got through the whole part on the dragon tattoo, but I could not continue on to other stories… It jumps forward super fast.
Sky finally has her life going the way that she wants it, has a ton of certifications and is working in a hospital… When a new boss comes in to replace one he was out to take care of his parents of course it’s Anthony… He has moved back home to become the alpha of his dragon shifter pack… The biggest challenges they face are people accepting him being mated to a human and dealing with a female dragon and her jealousy… The female dragon involves another witch which almost cost them the lives of their unborn child…
Anthony is so entitled and he gets to do whatever he wants, he makes all the calls without sharing information or discussing things with Sky… He made the call to disappear on her, he made the call not to reach out to her once he was old enough, and could have made the decision to reach out, he makes the decision that they’re going to end up together, he makes the decision that they’re going to take a break when he’s worried about her health, he leaves town without telling her where he’s going because he made the decision to go try to find another dragon and human pair… He makes the decision to come home, he makes the decision that they’re going to give their mating another chance… Sky does make the decision that she’s OK with it… But that’s after he shares all of his information… I feel like she forgave him way too fast, both times. She went from hating him more than a guy who cheated on her and left her at the alter to automatically forgiving him and hating the ex more in just a couple of pages… Don’t get me wrong, I would hate the ex too… Anthony didn’t really do a good job apologizing or groveling.
I like that there is note that there is a witch helping them and you get a few little (very little) sprinklings of her in that first part… But there’s no explanation on the history of dragons if there’s a council or something… I know he said that they have conventions… But he didn’t explain if there were other threats if there are turf, wars… There wasn’t enough of the world built out… I feel like if you were going to write a book with supernatural elements you have to sort of explain part of that backside. How do the packs work? Are they in a pack just to be in a pack, are they in a pack for protection, he talked about the push and authority from an alpha, but it was very very superficial and did not really share enough for me… I liked the premise of the story, shout out to whoever does the marketing because it did draw me in… But not enough for me to go back and read any more books in the series… And I’m a huge fan of series…
Of course, at the end of this part of the book, they do end up as a couple, but I am not sure that it was redeeming enough to make me want to continue on the next part.

This was a three book series and all three were downloaded to my Kindle and just ran on from each other. They were good books and kept me entertained for 3-4 nights but I won't be buying any more in the series (if there are any more). They got a bit predictable about half way though the second book.
This story takes place in Bluewater, a small town in the USA. The residents this that the people who live in houses, that are all in the same area by the cliffs overlooking the ocean are part of a cult, but as they seem okay, not strange and interact with the townsfolk with not problems they just let them be. This however is not a cult, it is a community of Dragon Shifters, all the men are large, extremely handsome and strong. There are many couples and families live there and they also have Sammy, the pack witch, who I love, she takes no B.S. and doesn't hold back on saying what she feels. Anthony has just become the Pack Alpha taking over from his father, but before this happens he has imprinted on his fated mate. It actually happened when he was at his 16th birthday party and he kissed his best friend through childhood, Skye, and his dragon tattoo appeared. This proves that the person was to be his fated mate, however there is a tiny problem. Skye is human. No Dragon has ever imprinted or mated with a human before, it was thought to be impossible. His father who was Alpha at the time went ballistic and sent him away to school and told him he was not to contact Skye again. He was planning of going to medical school anyway and so he went to one out of state. About 10 years later he returns to work at the hospital in Bluewater as a surgeon and surprise, surprise Skye is working there as a nurse practitioner and they are put to work together. Unsurprisingly Skye is very upset and angry and has had a lot of shit to deal with in the time he has been away and she tries to avoid him. Her two best friends Bri and Kay are there to help her and give her a shoulder to cry on, they take her out to the bar and club in town and have fun but she keeps running into Anthony. Eventually they talk, discuss what happened and all that has happened inbetween and realise they are destined to be together, it is not an easy road, but eventually things settle and they have beautiful twins a girl and a boy. So far so good, I enjoyed that book a lot. Now what are the chances that the three best friends all find they are fated to be mated with Dragons? When for centuries it was thought impossible and wrong for all sorts of reason. But yes in such a small town all three become Dragon fated. The second story is Bri and Jace's and how they come to be together, and the third Kaye and her fated who is Jace's half brother that he didn't know he had. The books are well written and very steamy and sexy, but I would need a break before I go onto anymore in this series
The hero is a dragon shifter, the heroine is a human, there is an aggressive human male, an antagonist, a dragon reveal, crisis in the relationship, adorable little witch, and a mating. Skyler and Anthony begin the trilogy. He’s the heir to the Alpha and Skyler is his human bestie. Problem as a teen he realizes she’s his fated mate. So his parents thinking human dragon matings can’t occur send him away without communicating with Skyler. 18 years later they meet again. Anthony is now returned a doctor and the new Alpha. In this book the antagonist is a female dragon who wants Anthony for her own. Anthony has to persuade Skyler a nurse practitioner to rekindle their relationship after 18 years of no communication. It’s an interesting story searching out their reasons for mating and introducing all the future characters. Book 2 is Jace and Brianna’s story. Jace is Anthony’s best friend and he has relationship issues. When he realizes his fated mate he tries to deny it. Brianna is a single mother whose ex is stalking and threatening her and her child. In the third book Skylers best friend Kaylee , a porn star/ sexual educator blogger with an ego and attitude bumps into Jaces half brother Porter, whose originally from California, an attorney and very staid. They both prejudge the other and their relationship gets off to a rocky start. She is not a fated mate but a chosen mate. The antagonist in this story is not an ex boyfriend but a stalker fan. Their personalities appear divergent until the story progresses. The book as are interesting as they create individual characters with some real life issues that have nothing to do with dragon shifters. The stories feel like a writers workshop where the authors are given criteria and told write a story. They are interesting but predictable because of the formulas.
First time reading this author’s work and it was a great story. Funny, tender, some tears, some hurt and anger but connection. Also an issue with a jealous women, Tessa, she’s a constant thorn. There is a part that is also focused throughout the book the medical condition that Skye has that I live with and it’s a painful subject to handle especially with seeing other women with kids or being pregnant, it’s very painful to want something only to find out that God didn’t want us to be good enough to have babies. It’s the way I’ve felt since I first found out when I was 25 and I’m near 40 and still no miracle, God must Hate me!
Long lost love even teenage love is forced to be broken by Anthony’s father who is the alpha of their clan, was a command and that forced Skye and Anthony to be separated for 18 years, when they were 16. Now he’s back but she is not making his life better, all those years her heart hasn’t healed and now he shows up, so I do t have a issue with how ticked off Skye is with Anthony. And he takes it because he knows she’s hurting. Only one issue I had when reading this was the time frame from chapter 23 to 24. In 23 she just letting people know she’s pregnant, happened a few chapters before but from then to 23 it’s happening in the same day, but chapter 24 Skye is extremely pregnant. Would have been nice is there was telling before the start of the chapter how many months went by like later on in the chapter with 2 months after the birth. At first I was like wow, super fast magic pregnancy but I don’t know if it’s that or the regular 8 months ( I know it’s 9 but for what she had it’s usually 8-8.5 months) later. That’s the only problem. I can’t wait for more from this author!
While I enjoyed the first 2/3 of the book, the third story left me feeling unhappy with the overall book and missing out on the serotonin boost I usually get from finishing books, especially HEA ones. I wish these were all separate as I'd like to rate them and review them separately. The first two are a solid 4, with a few scenes and explanations being meh, but the third was just awful.
SPOILERS AHEAD
The third story is between a family lawyer and a popular pornstar. Kaylee in the first two books is independent, fun, and nonmonagamous. Porter is fine, I have no issues with him in general. But it definitely feels like Kaylees character gets erased and she gets shoehorned into being Porters HEA. It becomes "Porter is unhappy and says this bad thing is gonna happen if you don't listen to him!!" And then the bad thing happens and it justifies him being a dick and it feels like Kaylee just loses her entire life to what he wants. It was incredibly frustrating to read. It's also not mentioned ONCE how her job could affect his? Or the dynamic of her only family member she found being his boss? Or how it just casually inserts her as being a magical being who can see through wards yet somehow in the 10+ years she's lived in Bluewater she NEVER saw a dragon until this very moment? Despite one of her closest friends living on the edge of dragon territory to boot? Also she just ends up pregnant at the end of the book despite it specifically mentioning them using condoms when they have sex. I dunno, the last book just felt incredibly sloppy. Disappointed.
Sorry Roxie Ray group. I generally enjoy your books. But this one missed the mark for me.

Anthony had wanted to share his special day with those who mattered to him and he'd over the moon when his parents let him invited all of his friends. Then something unexpected happened changing everything an he couldn't stop what followed. But now his Father had insisted on retiring and he was called back to take his rightful place. She hadn't seen him since they we teens and now they worked at the same hospital. The last thing she wanted was to deal with her ex fiance but apparently he just wouldn't take a hint and leave her alone. Skye knew she still carried around a lot of unexpressed feelings that kept weighing her down. Anthony would do anything to help her move on from that jerk who stomped all over her. Apparently their mutual attraction to one another has lead them down the primrose garden path to a glorious oh my goodness moments. He couldn't hide the truth from his parents as much as they might have wished things might have been different. However there was still the pieces of himself that he still hasn't shared with Skye and he really wasn't sure how she would react when he did because the last thing he'd ever wanted would be for her to run from him. All he thought about was her and how he could keep her safe and one way or another he'd prove they belong together.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The first book was SO painful! I am sorry. The way the FMC behaved you would think the MMC had gaslit her asked her to marry him and then left her at the alter. It was crazy! She was crazy! I can not stand not finishing a book so I kept going, but MAN it was hard!
The second book, I LOVED Jace. I actually liked this one, but the author manufactures a stupid reason for drama because the MC’s were actually really chill people and because of it there had to be a super random stupid reason for the FMC to be angry. But, in the end, this book was the only one I didn’t want to not finish.
I FORCED myself to finish this book. It was like the author decided “Now is my chance to soapbox for cam girls!” It was crazy! I felt like was being preached to every chapter. Porter was a weird mix of Jace and Anthony and I really liked him the bulk of the time. Kaylee made me want to vomit 90% of the time. She was not a strong woman, she was a bitter husk of a woman. I have no idea what the author was wanting to do with her character. One minute she seemed like a lost soul, another minute she was a 6 year old in an adult body, and then she would behave like a banshee. I honestly had NO idea what Porter saw in her. None. It wasn’t until the very end she had any redemption in my opinion.
Overall, if you have absolutely nothing else to do, these book are a fantastic time waist so pick em up.
Anthony and Skylar were childhood friends. They couldn’t remember a time they weren’t together. But on his 16th birthday, Anthony’s dragon lets him know that Skylar is their mate. His father is not happy about his son being mated to a human, so he sends him away. For his part, Anthony has no communication with Skylar until he returns to Bluewater some 18 years later. He still loves Skylar and wants to make things right with her and pursue her. They face the typical obstacles; his worry that she won’t accept his dragon, people in his clan that are opposed to bondings with humans, a jealous female dragon that wants Anthony for herself, and the uncertainty of how all this will affect Skylar.
I knew I would enjoy this series as I did enjoy a few of Ms. Ray’s other series. I really felt I knew both main characters, and even a few of the secondary ones too. I loved that Skylar didn’t freak out when she found out he was a dragon shifter. In her Blackclaw Dragon series, she seemed to struggle a bit with very unlikeable female characters. That is definitely not the case here, and I loved it. World building was good as was the story pacing.
I would recommend this book to any fans of this genre of romance books.
Im not sure what to say about this book… I didn’t LOVE it, but I also definitely didn’t dislike it… I read it in less than 24h and compared to other books I didn’t feel too much need with taking breaks. But again, I didn’t read it in one go either and it didn’t make me mad to have to stop and do other stuff… So basically that book didn’t evoke big emotions but it was a nice read to change my mind and get a little of that shifter romance. I feel like I will read the other books of the series, but I’m not sure yet. There’s things in the book that didn’t make sense to me as in the characters reactions to things. Also the version I have seem to be a bundle with many books in it, which the title didn’t say, so I thought it would be this massive 600 pages book lol. I often didn’t understand Anthony’s reactions (or how he didn’t have any reactions sometimes) to things and I think the reason I finished the book was mostly because I thought that with 613 pages, there was a lot of time to see him grow or explain stuff. I feel like he didn’t actually have the alpha vibe at all. If he had been a normal person, I feel like his way of being would have made more sense but with his role and power and everything, it just rubbed me wrong…
Wow well I thoroughly enjoyed this dragon shifter read. I’m unsure why it had negative reviews but I’m glad I ignored them. Anthony knows he’s meant to be with Skylar even though they’re only 16, fate doesn’t lie, and one kiss is all it takes for the mate mark to present itself, unfortunately being human is not a trait the current alpha of the clan wants as a mate for his son, ripped away from all he’s known and Sky by the alpha command he breaks both their hearts, until 18 years later, when Anthony returns in preparation to become alpha, and finally mate with the love of his life regardless of his clan politics, but will Sky forgive Anthony for leaving when she finally knows the truth? Great story, plot, and characters. This story is a sweet love that’s broken apart because of outside interference, although this made for an interesting read. Loads of angst, some hard moments, but mostly cute, loving moments. The love scenes are smoking and descriptive but not crude. I enjoyed how this series differs in shifter lore from the authors other series. Overall a good dragon shifter read.
