Blev inte lika betagen i denna som i första boken, men här finns verkliga gobitar. Vi får återigen ögonöppnande jämförelser mellan hur män och kvinnor behandlas, som när det poängteras hur mäns kläder är såväl obekväma som opraktiska och inte ens har fickor (nån som känner igen detta? I min jacka har jag tre fickor och ingen av dem är stora nog att ens få ner handen i - allvarligt, vad är problemet?! Jag hatar handväskor - GE MIG FICKOR!!! Frågade en kille om han hade tuggummi häromdagen - det tog honom ungefär en minut att leta igenom alla sina fickor...) eller hur en ensam man är lovligt byte för blickar, kommentarer och fysiska närmanden (såvida han inte är i sällskap av en kvinna, såklart). Här finns så mycket som får det att koka i mig, jag blir så jävla arg på att vi har det såhär (fast tvärtom då, givetvis) och att det inte verkar bli bättre. Jag kan ju exempelvis inte gå ut och dansa utan att få killar över mig, enda sättet att få vara ifred är att ha en karl med mig som kan hävda äganderätt och det känns så jävla illa, som om jag inte har någon egen rätt att säga nej. Fan ta't! Nej, nu börjar jag bli arg på riktigt, så vi avslutar detta: boken var bra, men det stör mig en del att vi har samma cliffhanger som i förra boken.

At the beginning, it was beautiful. As I was reading on, it was getting Sicily to read because some of the words were small and the images were black and white. There were times I had to flip back and forth to make sure I got the characters right. Maybe it’s because it’s in black and white and small on my tablet, it was hard for me to read. He first few pages were colorful and beautiful but afterwards just fell flat. I was disappointed.

gillade denna typ ännu mer än ettan! teckningarna är helt otroligt snygga och det är väldigt spännande hela tiden. karaktärerna växer och känns väldigt komplexa. irriterar mig lite på de där "känslogubbarna" eller vad en ska kalla det men det hör väll till manga i guess ... hade ju varit kul att ha allt i färg, men supersnyggt såhär med! ska läsa trean asap.

Ok, l'ho letto in svedese, l'ho tradotto tutto e adesso leggo in italiano per vedere quanto ho capito della traduzione che ho fatto... Sì, ci ho dedicato parecchio tempo.
È strano vedere le due edizioni vicine: quella originale è più grande e i colori sono più grigi che neri. Quella italiana, purtroppo, è un po' rimpicciolita nel formato e i colori sono molto più scuri.
Con Amaltea ho una legame particolare: dopotutto, è il primo fumetto che io abbia mai letto in svedese. Ricordo di averci messo tre mesi a tradurre il primo. Questo secondo volume... è stato decisamente tutto più veloce.
Amaltea è una donna molto forte - com'è normale nel suo mondo - e Ossian e un principino che ha bisogno di essere salvato. Ma, alla fine, entrambi sono prigionieri del proprio ruolo e non riescono a liberarsi.
Speriamo che il terzo volume esca presto in italiano. Che poi, giusto per correttezza, mi sembrerebbe doveroso mettere il nome del traduttore nel volumetto. Giusto per riconoscere il suo lavoro. Che sì, va bene, ma non puoi usare la parola gang quando sei così attento ad usare parole con un sapore un po' antico nel resto della storia.

Ja, jag har översatt boken till italienska. Jag vet det man har redan gjort det men jag ville det göra av mig själv. Det är en bra sätt att sig lära nya ord.
Den här andra boken var lättare att översätta: banditer använde enklare ord än ord som användes i den första boken.
Jag gillar Amaltea men jag tror det den här series är djupt svensk med könsomvandlingen och allting. Jag är säker det en italiensk serietecknare skulle inte ha tänkt på det: det italienska samhället har mycket att kämpa för jämställdhet mellan könen innan hantera med könsomvandlingen.

Serien fortsätter vara rolig, underhållande och intressant. Förtrollningen hade enligt mig fått ha ännu större roll, det fanns mycket där att bygga vidare på (ge mig en prins Ossian spinoff!). Vill verkligen veta hur serien slutar.

2.5/5. Den här volymen har fortfarande samma "måste-fortsätta-läsa" kvalitet och lekfulla tecknarstil som den första, men jag känner att handlingen börjar bli lite repetitiv? Var inte ett stort fan av det sista kapitlet heller.

So, the second volume of Natalia Batista's trilogy about a fantasy world where traditional gender roles are swapped, kingdoms are matriarchal, ruled by queens and their female knights and a young warrior princess is sent out to rescue a prince in order to get hold of his kingdom. I reread the first book before taking on this new volume, something I recommend. These books don't take all that long to read, and you get a better feel for what Batista is aiming for when you read the whole story so far in one go.
In this second volume we get a direct continuation from the end of volume one: the prince is rescued, but needs to be taken to his mother, the Queen, in order for the warrior princess to get her reward. On the way they encounter female highway robbers, who try to kidnap the prince for their own purposes, and the princess's overbearing older sister, who tries to rape the poor little prince.
The style seems to be a mix of shojo and shonen inspiration and is extremely well executed, especially considering that these books are done in, for Sweden, break-neck speed of one volume a year. On the one hand, I've always been a bit mystified by the urge of non-japanese artists to imitate the style of Japanese comics down to the last detail, on the other I realise that doing so opens up the whole world as your market.
I ended my review of the first volume by asking for something a bit more original besides the gender changing, since much of the story, if you change back the gender roles, is fairly standard fantasy stuff. In this volume I got just that, when Batista let the two main characters physically change gender during a scene where they take a bath in a magical pool of water in a forest and both come up as the opposite sex. This is of course a nod and a wink to all the gender-bending and gender-swapping in original manga in general, and in particular to Rumiko Takahashi´s classic Ranma 1/2. Great fun!
I must admit that Batista's ambition to make the reader think about traditional gender roles in fantasy works. As a male reader, I cringed when reading about how the young prince was treated. To paraphrase my favourite author, Terry Pratchett, which seems appropriate since he is one of the few fantasy writers I know of who writes egalitarian if not superior female characters, and his maybe greatest creation Granny Weatherwax: those are my First thoughts, based on years and years of consuming traditional fantasy. But then my Second thoughts kicks in, reminding me that this IS fantasy, where everything's possible. There's even bloody dragons! And then my Third thoughts scream: "Fuck yeah!!
Oh well, on a more serious note (or actually that was rather serious) this is the kind of fantasy I will want my daughter to read in about ten years time (she's one year old right now). Having finished the book, I'm now anxiously awaiting the final volume of what I expect will be a major hit all over the world, as I can think of few other openly feminist mangas out there.

Book two with the continued adventures of the tough and clumsy Princess Amaltea and the shy sassy Prince Ossian. I was thrilled to see that book two had arrived at the library where I work.
And it doesn't disappoint. It takes off where we last left Amaltea and Ossian, living it rough after their adventures in the last book. Running into bandits and Amaltea's assholish sister. Tough times! Not to mention the mystery person who follows them on a dragon. If there's a female Gandalf showing up, I wouldn't complain! I still love and adore how all the gender-roles are twisted and turned around. Ossian don't have much rights at all, and it's tough to be a man in this world, since it's all ruled and run by women. I love that so much. It makes you think while the manga is still soooo beautiful!

Jag måste tyävrr säga att jag inte blev jätteimponerad av den här. Ämnet som den här serien berör är sjukt viktig och jag älskar hur författaren valt att vända på könsrollerna. Tyvärr blir berättelsen lidande av det och jag känner ingen nyfikenhet till varken handlinge eller karaktärer. Två små detaljer som dök upp under den här andra volymen, , gör dock att jag antagligen kommer köpa på mig nästa del ändå. Men blir det inte bättre i den så är jag tveksam om jag kommer fortsätta... *sad face*

I loved the first book and book two was going so strong BUT.. I was hoping for a family reunion between Amalthea and her sister, and not the messy other plot. But I still hope they forgive eachother and hug it out in the end because girls will be girls after all.
