I always enjoy reading these Insight Guides before I go on trips, and this Hawaii one was the first thing I'm reading in a long list of works in the coming few months as I take my own crash course in Hawaiian culture. This book not only features tips and information for travelers, but includes a fairly extensive one hundred or more pages at the beginning that goes over Hawaii's history, culture, and nature. This was a good way to kick of both my planning and studies of Hawaii.
I really enjoy insight guided guidebooks. I like how they include a lot of maps and colored pictures, with labels on the map so you know where the things are that they’re talking about. They also include extensive history and culture information as well as helpful information for spending time in the detonations, places to stay and places to eat.
