This book was produced in conjunction with a museum exhibition in an effort to document the diversity of peoples and cultures all celebrating the same festival. It is a huge book, with eleven communities represented from ten different countries on three different continents. There are photographs and a lengthy essay for each community event. This was the result of a massive field research undertaking and the final product is impressive. (I will admit to skim reading parts of it!)

A shallow picture book with brief descriptions of random carnivals with little to no analysis or even interpretation.
