Gold Rush cupcakes, gold nuggets, and panning for gold – can Lauren, Annie, and Zoe find their own fortune? That is, when they’re not busy catching a killer!

Lauren Denman, cupcake baker and co-owner of the Norwegian Forest Cat Café with her fur baby Annie, has scored a catering gig with her cousin Zoe. The local senior center is giving a talk on the 1850s gold rush, and in honor of the occasion, Lauren has created a special Gold Rush cupcake.

But when Shirley, a local lady, tells everyone that she has a real gold nugget, everyone wants to see it!

Inspired by the gold rush, Lauren, Annie, and Zoe decide to pan for gold with their friend Martha. Will they find a nugget of their own?

When they visit Shirley to find out more about her big gold nugget, they stumble across a dead body, and a clue.

One hidden clue leads to another, until they’re convinced they’re on the trail of Shirley’s nugget.

Martha wants to help them “sleuth” and persuades them to let her go undercover in the café.

But when the killer discovers what they’re up to, will they have time to discover a fortune in gold? Or will they have enjoyed their last Gold Rush cupcake?

This is a humorous, clean, cat cozy mystery with female amateur sleuths, cupcake talk – and Annie, the Norwegian Forest Cat!

OMG - the Gold Rush era has come back to visit Gold Leaf Valley. What a treat!😃

Not only has Lauren come up with the best tasting and looking cupcake in honor of a Gold Rush speech at the Senior Center we also get to be part of panning for gold and a treasure hunt for a gold nugget with hidden clues! 🤩

Book 19 in this incredible series does not disappoint. Lauren, Zoe and of course the beautiful Norwegian Forest Cat Annie have a new mystery to solve - this time involving a murder and a gold nugget.

We get to read about the usual friends of Annie and the Norwegian Forest Cat Cafe but this time senior citizen Martha has a larger role. This was great to read - Martha bussing tables and the dialog in this scene/chapter made me laugh so much. Martha is hilarous as a sidekick sleuth.😂

I got this book as an ARC reader from the author and the review is given voluntarily. I bet you all will enjoy this book - and series - if you enjoy cozy mysteries that are fun loving, great characters and a beautiful cat.🤩🤩

Lauren and Zoe cater a talk at the Senior Center about the Gold Rush and one of the seniors mentions that her grandfather found a large gold nugget and that was the beginning of gold fever, everyone wants to see this nugget and Shirley just wants people to leave her alone and regrets mentioning it. The Lauren and Zoe find Shirley dead in her kitchen and also find a couple clues on where the nugget is hidden and who killed poor Shirley, there are lots of suspects and then Detective Castern is assigned to the case and the girls know it's up to them to find the killer. Plenty of twists and turns and a few surprises but in the end they find the killer and it wasn't who I thought it would be. Great read.

The latest instalment in this series is as engaging and entertaining as ever. This time Lauren, Zoe and Annie, Lauren’s Norwegian Forest Cat become involved in gold panning and then the discovery of a dead body. Can they and their friend Martha find the murderer? A light cozy mystery filled with delicious cupcakes and Danishes and good friends.

Cute book. The plot and storyline was good. There is a little suspense at the end as usual. Some twists and turns. The book is a quick and easy read. I do love reading about Annie. I missed the other cats though. Highly recommend.

Another warm, wonderful installment!

After losing both my cats recently, I was, well, not really worried, but still a tad apprehensive if it would be too much reading about Annie. Annie, the star cat of the series! What would I feel, think? Would it sadden me too much? Well, there was no need for any worry; I loved it! I’m so glad I was able to read it with the usual joy I feel whenever I read a James-book. Every book is better than the last, and I think I’ve said it before, but it’s true, the characters feel like friends. And I never want to say goodbye to them! What a warm tail, uhm, tale! Wonderful!

Lauren and Zoe who run the Norwegian Forest Cat Cafe have a catering job at the senior center where the talk is on the 1850's Gold Rush. Lauren has created a special cupcake for the occasion. When a local woman named Shirley says she has a gold nugget from that time everyone is curious to see it. But things get bad when Lauren and Zoe go to visit Shirley and find her body. The girls then begin sifting through clues to find a killer.

I've really enjoyed this series, and this book is no exception. It's well-written with wonderful characters and believable relationships. This quick, fun read drew me and kept me captivated from beginning to end. The mystery will keep you on your toes and guessing throughout. I'm looking forward to the next book. I highly recommend both book and series which I believe is best read in order.
