Horribly scarred as a baby, Rose keeps to herself with only her aunt Moira for company, afraid to leave their cottage. When she finds a hidden garden near the duke's manor, Rose makes an unexpected friend. She keeps herself hidden, afraid that he will reject her if he sees her face.
Nicholas, the duke's son, escapes from his duties momentarily and hears a beautiful voice from the other side of a garden wall. He finds solace in the mysterious girl with the lovely voice, who seems to be the only one who understands him.
Just as their feelings for one another are blossoming, a curse from long ago resurfaces, threatening everything Rose and Nicholas hold dear.
Briar Rose is a sweet, young adult romance that all ages can enjoy.
Briar Rose is a delightful retelling of the fairytale we all know and love - but with new twists and turns that will keep you engaged while leaving you enchanted. White has a natural knack for storytelling, and her writing is not only filled with beautiful imagery but nods to other magical tales that will make her novel feel both homey and nostalgic. In addition to her characters, one of the things I enjoyed most was the effortless humor that White sprinkles throughout her book. Briar Rose is equally wholesome as it is heartwarming. Add a generous dash of romance, and it's a wonderful addition to your physical or digital library that both young and old are sure to appreciate.
I love the twist in the story, while aat times I felt it was a bit slow, the blossoming relationship between the MCs was worth it. The only thing I wish happen 1. Rose should've been the one to end things (I'm trying to b be discrete without giving too much away) and 2 the ending was too rushed. 3 I wish we knew how both Enid and Tobias are their nastiness after finding out about Rose. 4 I wish we "saw" an actually wedding and the reunion of Rose and the duchess's. Lol, that's all, I would totally recommend this book.
I enjoyed reading this enchanting novel! It was well-written in fairy tale style and I was intrigued with the plot. I look forward to reading more books from this author.
