To save the world, the Dangerous Clique must save the devil first.
The Dangerous Clique, a little-known mischievous unit within the CIA, averted global disaster by thwarting the Shedim criminal syndicate’s attempt to unleash a deadly bioweapon. But while the Shedim’s ringleaders are facing justice, plenty of the network’s minions remain free and eager to strike. Indeed, mere public knowledge of the failed plot’s true nature, engineering a virus to target particular genes, could inspire a sinister copycat attack.
The mysterious terrorist named Hell-Summoner opened Pandora’s Box; now the Clique must hunt down, repack and reseal that box before it’s too late.
This digital original short story is a race against the clock as Katrina Leonidivna and Alec Flanagan desperately attempt to locate a notoriously unscrupulous asset and learn what he knows before other interested parties get to him first. But in the craziest twist of the Clique’s career, they must protect that sworn enemy to get the intel they want. Can they play nice enough with their hated foe to serve the greater good, or will their instinct to shoot first and ask questions later bring it all crashing down into disaster?
To learn what Katrina, Alec, and the rest of the Clique do after their exploits in SAVING THE DEVIL, look for the next book in Jim Geraghty’s Dangerous Clique series, GATHERING FIVE STORMS, out later this year in eBook and Paperback. This story continues the adventure that began in BETWEEN TWO SCORPIONS and accelerated in HUNTING FOUR HORSEMEN.

Exciting entry to Jim Geraghty's [writer for National Review] The CIA's Dangerous Clique series, but only about 20 pages, and nothing gets resolved, more a less a teaser.
Excellent setup, great recap without being too burdensome, very tightly written.
I've deeply enjoyed the previous entries in the DC series and was happily surprised by this short story earlier this morning. I had expected the next story to be what I understand is Gathering Five Storms, but this is enough to whet my appetite.
As with most enjoyable stories, the biggest problem is that it feels like it's over far too quickly. That's a good problem to have! Nothing is wasted here, and enough is here to serve as a quick introduction to this lit-verse.
A great idea - a short story bridging the last book (which I read a while ago) with the new one - refreshing where the characters are and getting you excited for the story ahead.
