The solution to the mystery is craaaazy obvious, but the kids are too busy being dumb jerks to notice. These books make me think JahnnaNMalcolm really hate/s children?

I appreciate the veiled critique of the American healthcare system, wherein the only assistance available to a senior citizen struggling with dementia (and animal hoarding) is a ditzy and incompetent 11-year-old.

I think books 3 and 4 were the downturn of the series, because not only are the characters from book 3 not mentioned again (Rocky’s brother, the new ballet classmates), the mystery in this one is stupid. 10 year old me figure it out right away, but the girls couldn’t?

They give a big part of the book to the Russian receptionist, who’s a sweet old lady and I adore her. Her pets are awesome, and I would go have tea and cookies with her any day.

But sadly, the mystery was obvious, the girls didn’t mesh well, and I think this is the weakest book of them all.
