Big Feelings by New Zealand author Rebekah Ballagh is a story book for children to help them understand their emotions. To understand why they feel sad, or upset, or jealous, or anxious. There are ways to combat those feelings and to know they're loved anyway, as everyone makes mistakes, everyone gets anxious now and then.

Feelings are messages from the heart sent here to help you. So listen close and take a breath, they'll show you what to do.

A delightful little book including strategies and resources for parents, caregivers and teachers, Big Feelings is recommended for young children as they learn their way through life. The illustrations are perfect to keep their interest as well.

With thanks to Allen & Unwin for my ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

This is an amazing book! The whimsical, expressive, character illustrations invite readers to identify with the feelings represented. This is an excellent book to use as a therapist to help young clients grow in their emotional literacy. The resources in the back of the book are a perfect addition and offer interventions that young people can relate to. I cannot thank this author enough for writing this book.

Helping children to explore emotions is challenging sometimes and that is where Big Feelings comes in - this is a book that helps them to explore each of their emotions in a safe place. They can learn how to identify and how to manage them PLUS caregivers can use this book too - to help support and give children the chance to talk about how they feel.

A story told in rhyme that embraces feelings and all their ups and downs this book is idea for children and adults alike and would be an ideal addition to every school library.

And some are very small.

Very practical book. I use it regularly to help my 5 year-old learn about her different emotions.
