I always got the feeling that Ugly was happy go lucky, a fun loving guy just out for a good time…no promises and no drama. What we get from him in this story is a much more serious side. He’s a bit unbalanced as his integrity is called into question and the one thing he truly prides himself on, his ability to protect those around him, is also under scrutiny.
Lennox is a good detective, she works hard at her job and she wants to find the answers. But a rash misstep followed by a humiliation gets her methods put under close scrutiny…she is determined to solve the murder of a young woman and her connection to the prime suspect, Ugly, is not going to stop her getting answers…no matter whom it upsets.
I did enjoy this…I appreciated the intensity of Lennox’s character, her determination to get to the truth. Ugly is such a great guy, my heart ached for him and the fact that he had to be put through so much while also questioning his own skills. The one thing I didn’t really feel as strongly as with the other Cerberus stories was the connection between the two main characters.
Looking forward to Bishop’s story next.

4.25stars--UGLY is the twenty-sixth instalment in Marie James’ contemporary, adult CERBERUS MC erotic, MC romance series focusing on the Cerberus MC, most of whom are former US Marines who aid and help those unable to help themselves. This is Sawyer ‘Ugly’ Maddox, and Detective Lennox Maison’s story line. UGLY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Some of the events of UGLY cross over with, and run parallel to some of the events in book twenty-five BOOMER.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Lennox and Ugly) UGLY follows in the aftermath of a sexual assault and murder, blamed on our story line hero. Every opportunity to continue the investigation is met with a dead end but Lennox is determined to prove that the recent string of murders may be connected to the past, a past long thought dead and gone. Sawyer ‘Ugly’ Maddox fell for Lennox the first time they met. A one-night stand ended when our heroine ghosted Sawyer Maddox but when suspicion points a finger at Sawyer, Lennox refuses to back down until the proof is revealed.
The relationship between Sawyer and Lennox begins as a one-night stand that quickly develops into a police investigation but our hero doesn’t remember the night of the first murder, and the second murder will quickly be pinned on the man with whom Lennox is falling in love. The investigation is now compromised with the relationship between Lennox and Sawyer but Lennox will be targeted by a ghost from the past. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word in my romance story line.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters, most of whom we have met in the previous story lines. Bishop was on security duty the night of the attack against our story line heroine, and he has yet to recover from his injuries. Bishop’s story is next.
UGLY is a story of madness, murder and mayhem, betrayal and vengeance, obsession and acceptance, forgiveness and growing love. The fast paced premise is gritty, intriguing and suspenseful; the romance is provocative; the characters are desperate and dynamic. UGLY ends on a bit of a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

After how Boomer ended in book #25 of the Cerberus MC series by Marie James I knew Ugly book #26 would be a good read. Marie James really dug deep for the heroine in this book. Because of all she dealt with from a young age she was a cold person quick to judgment and it was hard to connect with her because she didn't let you.
In Ugly's book, he is under suspicion for the rape and murder of 2 women in town. Farmington rarely ever has a crime worse than a drunk driver or assault so these murders rocked the town and the lead detective on the case was Detective Lennox Maison. The crimes were so similar to her past that when the first piece of a clue came in she jumped on it and arrested Ugly. Automatically she judged him guilty and thought the worse of him because that's what she does. Ugly has always vowed he would never get attached to a woman. He was always a hit-and-run type of guy until Lennox. Something just pulls at him where she is concerned even though she thinks he's capable of committing the crimes he's accused of. And Lennox is so afraid of loss that she won't let anyone get close to her in any capacity so she can't lose them until Ugly. This book is a passionate and heartbreaking read of Ugly and Cerberus trying to prove he didn't commit the crimes he was accused of. And Lennox has to face her past head-on and finally learn to let someone in. Ugly knows just how to handle her and be patient with her thanks to his work in the military and with Cerberus. Unfortunately in trying to clear his name one of Cerberus' guys gets hurt. We'll have to wait and see what happens with him. And if Lennox can finally let someone in.
I gave this book a 4-star rating because it was hard for me to connect with Lennox through most of the book. And I gave it a 4-spicy rating and all I have to say is piercings. Read it and find out! This is a book that is good for anyone who likes a good read with touches of dark in it. Marie James has a way of walking the line where her stories have a big impact without going completely dark and it's refreshing to read compared to other MC novels I've read. This book can be read as a standalone but if you want the whole picture of how Ugly ended up in the situation he did then I would read Boomer first. Bishop is up next and I can't even anticipate how it's going to go.

We’re back with our favourite Farmington folk in this small town romance, featuring a playboy hero and a tortured heroine.
Lennox is a detective within Farmington police department, after hitting the gym one evening she ends up heading to a hotel with a man she'd met there, going on to have the hottest one night she’s had to date, she ends up leaving, rather reluctantly without even getting his name.
Getting called out on a murder case the last thing Lennox expected was for the number one suspect to be the man she’d recently had a one night stand with, Cerberus MC member Sawyer aka Ugly may have the reputation of being a bit of a playboy but he’d never intentionally hurt a woman, he’s more about helping and protecting them, certainly not killing them. Emotions run high between the pair with Lennox jumping to conclusions, she can’t help but compare this recent murder case to that of her own sister's murder fifteen years previous, only as far as the police department’s concerned her sister's murder was solved. It’s not long before there’s another murder, once again Ugly’s smack bang in the middle of things, despite knowing more about Ugly, especially his whereabouts when said murder occurred, Lennox can’t help but question herself and her judgments, and when things take an even more shocking turn she begins to question her life moving forwards, the real question is will she want Ugly to be part of it?
I absolutely loved Ugly and Lennox's story, from start to finish I was captivated, I couldn't take my eyes off the pages. Together these two were compatible both in the bedroom as well as out of it, between the sheets they had a Dom/Sub relationship, outside the bedroom they were equals, and the chemistry between them was off the charts.
In all honesty Ugly has now taken the poll position as being my favourite Cerberus read, I highly recommend it. Now the excitement begins for Bishop’s story coming next.

Detective Lennox Maison believes she is good at her job but when the man she had a one-night stand with is the last one to see a murdered woman alive she arrests him.
Sawyer “Ugly” Maddox is shocked when he is arrested for the murder of Elizabeth Burr but the problem is he can’t remember the events of that night and he knows that isn’t going to hold up in court. His fellow Cerberus MC members know he is innocent but can he prove it to Lennox?
When there is another murder can Sawyer convince Lennox that he is innocent and help find the real killer?
This is another great book in the series and I really enjoy all of the bikers and their stories.
Lennox was definitely an interesting character as she seemed so desperate to prove herself that she completed jumped the gun in her assumptions and it almost felt like she was so mad at herself that she failed to do the necessary steps in collecting evidence. Her heart and mind were at odds and she was really struggling with herself because the new murder was eerily similar to one 15 years prior. She was so desperate to get answers from that one that she jumped the gun on this one.
Ugly was a great character who knew he was innocent yet couldn’t account for a period of time. He was going to do whatever he could to prove his innocence to Lennox as he knew how much he was attracted to her and he wanted a chance with her. He was a really good guy and everyone had faith in him that he didn’t commit the crime he was accused of.
There was a lot of chemistry between Ugly and Lennox and Ugly gave Lennox what she needed in a “relationship” but there was also a lot hanging over them because of the crimes that Lennox was being looked at for. Lennox was in a bad position with her attraction to Ugly and the job that she was in. This definitely cost her a lot.
I was definitely shocked when things were revealed and how everything tied together.
The ending with Bishop sounded great and I can’t wait for the next book!- Rebecca

Oh, I just can't get enough of this MC!
You would think, at book 26 in this series, it would be stale, recycled writing. And you would be SO wrong. Never with this author!
Ugly/Sawyer and Lennox have a difficult relationship through the whole book, with so many emotions and tensions bouncing between them that it was truly difficult to put this one down.
Most of this read I was really incensed at Lennox. I mean, really! Her thoughts and actions made me feel frustrated and angry, I just wanted to slap her! (hahaha) On the flip side, Ugly was everything we want from a Cerberus member - protective, and willing to help. Oh, and let's not forget... handsome, dominant, and a good guy. (Even though he starts out a playboy.)
The read was additionally filled with drama, danger, gruesome murders and tough situations that are not for sensitive readers. But this is one of my favorite things about the creativity of this author. Even when it's really hard, it's really good!!
She brings me to the horrible, and delivers me through it to the Happy Ever Afters. That is the primary reason she is one of my most read authors. I just can't get enough of the emotions I get from her works. Not to mention, the steamy chemistry and addictive and engaging relationships between the MC brothers and their partners.
While you absolutely can read each of these as a stand-alone, I wouldn't. The absolutely best way to enjoy this MC club is to binge the box sets. Which is exactly what I will be doing soon. :)

I was pulled right into this story. The story has pain, secrets, and heartbreak.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first

I recommend this book.
I was pulled right into this story. The story has pain, secrets, and heartbreak.

HOLY SMOKES! My mind is reeling over everything that happens and what is set up to happen in this book. I am blown away.
Ugly and Lennox are the phenomenal couple who star in this 26th book (it seems like only yesterday I started reading these books but I realize I’ve been with these old friends for several years now) of the Cerberus MC series. The fireworks and super spicy levels start from the first page and don’t let up through the whole story.
There is a huge mystery that shrouds the book and it will keep you guessing until the person behind the mystery is revealed. I guessed every other person mentioned except the real responsible party.
On top of the main mystery, we have an awful event happen to a newer member of Cerberus and that storyline takes on a HUGE twist at the end of the book. The set up for the next one already has me desperately wanting to read it.
The entire book keeps you engaged the entire journey and turning the pages quickly. I could not put this one down once I started. Marie James is an exquisitely talented author who is one of my all time favorites. I eagerly await each new release so I can visit with all of my old friends from this series and even get to peek in at friends from other series she has written. The tales woven are unique, exciting and filled with family, love and all the spiciness you want in a romance novel. Well done!!!!!

Another fantastic book by Marie James. It was one that literally sucked me in. It gave me so dang many emotions and kept me on the edge of my seat. Marie packed this Cerberus MC book full of action, suspense, danger, steam and so much more.
Ugly and Lennox meet one night at the local gym and their attraction is instant and the sexual chemistry between them is off the charts intense so the hookup for one night with no names and no numbers exchanged. When a local woman is murdered Lennox is tasked to lead the investigation, Ugly was the last man to be seen with the woman before she was murdered. So when Lennox arrests him everything in both their lives get turned upside down. This a story you absolutely must read for yourself.
Their story is absolutely intense. You will instantly fall in love with Ugly, he’s freaking perfect. Lennox I’ll be totally honest I really had a hard time liking her, but she’s had it rough not just at present time but her childhood too, she’s closed off and a bit icy and has no idea how to trust. She’s who Ugly needs though and he’s who she needs to break down her walls. She finally gives in to her feelings and they eventually get their HEA. Definitely highly recommend this book and am really looking forward to her next book especially since it’s Bishop’s story. This is another great book in the series and I really enjoy all of the bikers and their stories.
Lennox was definitely an interesting character as she seemed so desperate to prove herself that she completed jumped the gun in her assumptions and it almost felt like she was so mad at herself that she failed to do the necessary steps in collecting evidence. Her heart and mind were at odds and she was really struggling with herself because the new murder was eerily similar to one 15 years prior. She was so desperate to get answers from that one that she jumped the gun on this one.
Ugly was a great character who knew he was innocent yet couldn’t account for a period of time. He was going to do whatever he could to prove his innocence to Lennox as he knew how much he was attracted to her and he wanted a chance with her. He was a really good guy and everyone had faith in him that he didn’t commit the crime he was accused of.
There was a lot of chemistry between Ugly and Lennox and Ugly gave Lennox what she needed in a “relationship” but there was also a lot hanging over them because of the crimes that Lennox was being looked at for. Lennox was in a bad position with her attraction to Ugly and the job that she was in. This definitely cost her a lot.
I was definitely shocked when things were revealed and how everything tied together.
The ending with Bishop sounded great and I can’t wait for the next book!

One of my all time favorite MC Romance Series just keeps getting better. I find this rare when a series has double digit books in it, but Marie James’s Cerberus MC series, simply put, is Outstanding - with Ugly’s story being no exception. The author gave us a well written storyline that held me captivated from start to finish. Ugly is one of the few confirmed bachelors in the Cerberus Clubhouse. He’s a dominant man in and out of the bedroom and hooking up with Lennox, a local cop, was another bit of fun. But when she shows up a couple days later and arrests him for murder, in front of all his MC brothers, it’s not only no longer fun but embarrassing and not true. Lennox is convinced he’s guilty since Ugly was the last one to see the female victim alive and thus his very public arrest. But when evidence comes to light, Ugly is cleared, only for another murder to be committed. Once again Lennox jumps to the conclusion Ugly is guilty. Who seems to be setting him up for murder? Will his connection to Lennox put her in danger too?
This is a very suspenseful, steamy MC romance you don’t want to miss out on. Ugly, like all the Cerberus books, can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading them all if you are an MC romance reader. Trust me you can’t go wrong with these ex military, turned government/MC brothers.

Having just recently found Marie James and the Cerberus MC, I admit I'm a bit late to the game. However, once I started reading about Kincaid, his club and the lives of his men, I couldn't stop. Though all of these books can be read as stand alone stories, Marie has a way of setting up her next book so flawlessly that you just can't wait to keep reading. I read the first 25 books in less then a month then sat... waiting...patiently(??) for Ugly and his story. To say the least...I was not disappointed.
Ugly has all the amazing elements and details I've come to expect when I'm the story of a particular club member and their partner. But each story is unique and this one had a suspenseful murder mystery vibe added to the mix that I just couldn't get enough of. I love the way she continues to intertwine each new story with elements that bring it back to the club as a whole.
I feel like Ms. James is just hitting her stride with this series and I can not wait for book 27 and beyond.

Marie James stepped up the heat, the intrigue and the suspense in the 26th instalment of the Cerberus MC, yet again I am left in awe of an author that can keep up the uniqueness with every new book that arrives.
When a young woman is found dead, and Detective Lennox Maison is assigned to the case, you know from the moment that she takes it personally there is an underlining tragic back story, and boy was there one which had me reaching for my tissues when it appears that Ugly from the Cerberus MC might be involved it is about to get a whole lot more complicated, they shared one night of extreme heat between the covers, and now Lennox is conflicted, Ugly can't get the complex Dectective of his mind, and that sets us up for a hot spine-tingling story with twists, turns and more intrigue than you can possibly imagine, once again this author delivered a hell of a punchy, powerful, hot must read.

This Book Is Intense But Worth Reading!
This book is just so intense from beginning until the end with so many twists & turns that will leave you feeling so many emotions. I honestly didn't care for Lennox at the beginning the way she treated Ugly and judged him without any evidence. But as the story unraveled and more is revealed I couldn't help but feel bad for Lennox and all she been through in her life. Ugly sure was forgiving, patient, and Lordy he as a dominant was just hot!
This book had lots of action, suspense, drama, and of course hot steamy scenes that will leave you on the edge of your seat wondering at the end what is next with Bishop. I was relieved to know he has a story of his own to tell & also that Ugly & Lennox got their HEA too. Overall seeing a few familiar OG Cerberus MC making an appearance is always a bonus in any book to see how they are doing as Cerberus MC continues to grow in members. I'm excited to start reading Bishop's book next.

Sawyer Maddox also known as Ugly is out camping with the guys when a familiar face shows up and arrests him on murder and rape charges of a woman he was last seen with at Jake's. Detective Lennox Madison is investigating her first murder case with the help of her mentor and fellow Detective Colton Mathews. She jumps to all the wrong conclusions and ends up in deep crud with the chief of police and has to bend to his rules until things can be sorted out. Lennox lost someone close to her and now she's not so easily trusting of people. Another woman is found dead and once again Ugly is the prime suspect. Could not put down another hit out of the park this author. She can tell one heck of a story. Looking forward to book 27 its gonna be a good one

Sawyer Maddox AKA Ugly is on a high after hooking up with a cop until that cop, Lennox Maison comes to arrest him for the murder of a woman he was the last to see alive. It might look clear cut to Lennox but Ugly is innocent and does his best to prove it. It seems to be over when evidence shows Ugly didn’t do it and Lennox suffers through an apology. Until it happens again! Will Lennox believe him after they’ve gotten close or will this be another guilty until proven innocent for poor Ugly? I loved seeing how this unfolded. I was mad at Lennox at times but given her reason that is clouding her judgment I wasn’t too mad. I can’t wait to see what happens with Bishop in book 27! This series just gets better with each book that passes.

This author has killed it with the Cerberus series with hot alpha men and women who are all about protecting those that need help the most. Ugly was one of the few men without a woman to call his own. That changed after a night of a hookup with none other than a cop. Lennox was tough and had a driving force in her life in which she threw everything into. Lennox was trying to solve some murders that were surrounding herself and Ugly.
This book was such a page turner because the built-up suspense as to who was behind these murders made it so. Ugly and Lennox had such a push pull relationship that kept me holding on that they would eventually find their HEA. I highly recommend this book and the rest of the Cerberus series.

Ugly is the 26th book of the Cerberus MC Series and I couldn't read it fast enough! This series keeos getting better and better.
Marie drags you into the story and she makes it so that you keep guessing and keeps you on the edge of your seat!!

Holy Mother of Thor! What did I just read? Ugly, the forever bachelor, getting involved? In what? Well, you're just going to have to read it for yourself.
I would describe this book as being heavy. A big dark cloud hangs and you're just waiting for the storm to hit. Well, that storm just so happens to possibly be a serial killer on the loose or is Sawyer Maddox not who he really says he is? Det. Lennox Maison is on the case, and maybe she gets a tad too involved?
This was such a fantastic read and kudos Marie for keeping me turning those virtual pages. I binged this book so hard. I needed to know what happens next!!

Ugly was packed with many emotions, the story was told well, the plot was strong, it's packed with suspense, drama, action and so much more, the story, it was written well. Marie James did a great job on it. Lennox and Ugly/Sawyer's story will take you on an emotional rollercoaster, their path had many bumps along the way but they were fighters, they were drawn to each other, the chemistry was strong as well as the connection they had. Lennox and Ugly were good together but nothing about their journey was easy. This is a great story, I'd suggest reading it.

Lennox is a detective within Farmington police department. After having a One Night Stand with a delicious man she met at the gym.. she gets called to take the lead on a Murder investigation.. Jumping the gun.. before looking at all the evidence.. she goes after the one person she left.. this has her feeling all sorts of emotions.. Did he do this? I mean he was the last person seen with the deceased victim.. but maybe not all things are as they seem..

I have been holding my breath since the end of Boomer’s book waiting to find out where Ugly’s story would take us. There was more than meets the eye with Ugly and the chemistry between he and Lennox was off the charts. Their story was filled with tragedy, suspense, drama and so much guilt. It had you on the edge of your seat as your mind tried to work out who was the person lurking in the shadows. It was filled with passion and the heat and steam between these two will have your skin tingling. It was a story that I was unable to put down and had me drawn completely into their world. The ending will have you eager for the next book in the Cerberus World.

This is Ugly's story.
I have to say this is one of my favorites of the series now.
What started as a no-names one night stand turns into a few murders and a who done it.
Lennox is a homicide detective. This is her first time leading an investigation. And it has the past coming back to her.
There is a lot that happens with this case. I'm not going to go into detail though. Sorry, not sorry.
I loved both characters.
I can't wait for the next book. Poor Bishop.

The stories keep getting intense and I love them. This series has been good and keeps you on the edge of your seat and then looking for a fan the next minute. Ugly (Sawyer) is carefree and intense all in one. And gives commands in the bedroom that have you saying Yes Sir. I love Lennox she is an awesome detective and how she is not afraid to show Ugly just how much she needs him in the bedroom. Out if the bedroom? Not so much. As she searches for a serial killer she wonders if that search will lead her to loose everything in her life. But she has to carry on.. I loved this book.

Ugly and Lennox are in my top 5 Cerberus couples. Lennox is a detective with the Farmington police department, imagine her surprise when the main suspect to a murder investigation is the guy she recently had a one night stand with.
This story is nothing like the rest in the series. Usually Cerberus business is conducted outside of the United States. However, with one of their own as a suspect Cerberus will help in anyway they can.
The dynamic between Ugly and Lennox is fire! Ugly can read and deliver Lennox’s needs, and Ugly is everything Lennox’s needs but afraid to ask for.

Book 26 of Cerberus MC and not one bit disappointed! Marie James has done an incredible job with not only this boo, this series, but all of the books she has written!
Ugly had me glued to the pages and I couldn’t get through the book fast enough. Ugly and Lennox are perfectly matched together in this story.
Ugly just adds to the already loved series of Cerberus MC and can be read alone but more enjoyable if you have the backstory of the club. I think I need to start all the way back to the beginning again, where it all began!
