I could tell from the start that this would be an emotional read, I just didn't realize how emotional it would be. Every significant character is broken in some shape or form, but the main focus is on Lucas Temple and Melody Byers.
Lucas Temple lost his family at the young age of 15 and depended on his sister's best friend (Melody Byers) to get him through the grief while inadvertently falling in love with her.
Later, Melody moves and marries and Sandra (Lucas' older sister) moves out of the country with her new husband. In comes Yonathan and Manon, who take Lucas (baby Temple) under their wings to guide him.
Fast Forward 5 years, and Melody is divorced and broken, and ends up working on the same film as Lucas, Yonathan, and Manon. Will Melody and Lucas find their happy ending?
Play My Part is full of broken individuals that play their own parts in healing the people they care about in their own way, while also using professional resources to help heal and move past their prior traumas. This wasn't a novel that I immediately fell in love with the characters, I had mixed feelings for everyone but Manon. He was definitely my favorite, and I so hope he gets a book of his own in this series.

An honest and real (although exactly how real can all that amazing sex be???) telling of a love story between two very broken and very raw people - Melody, just coming out of an incredibly abusive marriage (and suffering from more trauma that actually led her to that marriage and made her stay in it) and Lucas, whose intense fear of abandonment stems from his parents dying when he was a teenager and then everyone he loved eventually leaving him.
While the book did have some scenes I couldโve done without (the angry sex scene with someone having painful trauma associated with rape and violent sex for example) it also felt authentic and mature, especially for a book of this genre. The characters are very flawed, they make mistakes, they realise that and continue to make more mistakes, they heal gradually but then are still works in progress (I loved the references to therapy and the fact that both protagonists realised they have to truly work on themselves before they can be happy in a couple rather than expecting love to magically solve everything).
To be fair, all the characters in this book are broken and Iโm very much looking forward to reading more about them in the next books of the series. And if I know Miriam, she wonโt rest until she gives each and every one of them their happy endingsโฆ literally and figuratively!

I was giving this arc in exchange of an honest review.
This is a reverse age gap romance book with second second chance and be aware of all the TW!
This book talks about melody and Lucas and how she struggles to get over her trauma from her ex husband and how Lucas and melody meet each other again and go from there!
I absolutely loved this book so much, although in some parts I thought it was a bit fucked up and a bit fast paced I loved it and couldnโt stop laughing as soon as Yon came into the scene! The dynamic between the three main characters which are Lucas, Yon and Manon is amazing, Iโm sorry to Lucas but yon and manon have my heart cause Lucas kind of gave me some really mixed emotions and melody too! There were several points in this book where I hated both of them because of how immature they were in a few scenes but above all I loved it anyways and would definitely recommend everyone to read cause it is really enjoyable and entertaining and you get a good laugh and to finish this off the sexual tension was through the roof, it was so spicy, I loved it!
Once again Iโm definitely recommending this book and this author cause sheโs an amazing personโค๏ธ

Don't judge the book by its cover.
Damn, this book broke me in a way I can't describe. I honestly didn't expect that amount of spiciness in this book, like wow. Apart from that, I liked the dynamic in this trioโYonathan, Manon, and Lucas. Let's just say the men characters in this book apparently had their own ways to speak their minds. Very poetic (and filthy crude?), in which real guys don't do regrettably.
Despite Play My Part is about Lucas and Melody, I was more attracted to know more about Tzipporah. She was sassy! I appreciate how the author represented many heavy topics in her novel. I guess the author's favourite words are "fucking" and "fuck" because at least there was one on every single page.

I just disagree with how the MCs used angry sex to resolve their conflict, despite knowing that both of them were hurting and one actually had trauma to sexual stuff. That's a big turn off for me.

This book was phenomenal!! I knew once I read the description that this book would be an emotional one for me, but I had no idea!!! I felt so strongly for Lucas and Melody and the more I read their story, the more I hoped they got their perfect ending. This story and the characters were all very relatable and i loved the bond between the three friends, Lucas, Yonathan and Manon.

OkayโฆWhere to start with this oneโฆ now, you all know how I feel about friends to lovers, but did I mentioned friends to lovers because heโs your best friendโs brother?! Fucking hell, this was hot.
That 12 year age gap between her and him was ๐ค๐ปโจ. Itโs so refreshing when the FMC is older than the MMC ๐ฅต๐ฅ. The emotional and mental healing from this book will get to you in the deepest of feels. This is an all you can eat buffet kinda book; friends-to-lovers, best friendโs brother, age gap, praise kink, breed kink, praise and degradation, sweet, dark and spicy, and just the way I like it! A must read because this is a hidden gem in the book world. โค๏ธ

An intense story with a dark undertone. Melody is coming out of a marriage where she was abused, not only physically, but emotionally and sexually. She meets back up with Lucas, who she had cut ties with after she felt she crossed a line with him, and his two best friends. He wants to fight her demons with her, but his friends do not agree. Will they be able to overcome their obstacles for their happily ever after?
An interesting read, lots of colorful language which can make one feel uncomfortable.

Intense, get ready to feel all the emotions in a single book. You'll laugh, you'll feel sad, angry, excited... And then your heart will be full of love and you'll want to scream at the characters and hug them the next second.
The author has created a world with complex and unique characters, who come with their own stories and that's what makes this book so great.

Oh my, this book hurt my heart. So sweet and so painful. I loved Melody and Luc's growth. Life is NOT easy, and this book was a fantastic reminder that even though something or someone seems perfect, they might not be. And that's ok. Interested to see what happens with Yon and Rah...

I loved everything about it. Yes, there are some hard topics/themes, but that makes the story that much more real. Miriam has a lifetime fan in me.
