The China Affairs #4

The China Declaration

Rate this book
In a story that could be ripped from today’s headlines . . .

Life has finally settled down for Jack Gold. But all this downtime has left him feeling out of shape and without purpose, as the world around him continues to change. When President Wang Yang loses his re-election bid in China, Jack fears that everything he’s done for the country will be all for nothing, as Wang’s successor is vehemently opposed to everything Jack stands for. When the government-provided security detail is removed and Jack finds his family in imminent danger, they relocate to the United States, where an opportunity to work within the United States government presents itself that Jack simply cannot turn down.

Using the Declaration of Independence as his inspiration, Jack pens a document outlining China’s misdeeds and the remedies that could bring true democratic change to the country of over one billion people. But the only way such a plan can succeed is if the government censorship over what Chinese citizens are able to access online is eradicated. This is no small undertaking, but if they can harness the power of social media and fight back against an onslaught of disinformation, the communist regime might finally be toppled. But when China invades Taiwan, it is up to Jack to take the decisive action to neutralize the threat and usher in democracy and freedom to the world’s most populous nation.

Great read - but check the facts and form your own opinion

I highly recommend the 4 book series. The last one - “The China Declaration” walks the reader through a 70 year history lesson of China - right up to the Ukrainian conflict and China’s ties with Russia - just missing the CCP’s selection of Presidents Xi Jinping for his third term. I don’t necessarily agree with the actions that were taken - chalking it up more as dramatic license by the author. I do think China has many great leaders that are deeply committed to helping their countrymen - as well taking a seat at the table as stewards for global peace. I am hoping for greatness but am realistic that the journey will be a bit bumpy at times.

Just like Jack ( the protagonist), I have lived in China for the majority of the last 12 years, I love my Chinese and American families. I strongly echo the beautiful description of the Chinese people and their culture. I also agree that Dali is incredible - my wife and I hope this will be our permanent home someday.

I wish the best for all my Chinese friends and family. Enjoy the read.

“The China Declaration” is the fourth book in the fabulous series “The China affairs”, I have read it completely from start to finish and it really hasn't been time wasted.
In this book, there is a long-awaited ending for me, with the excellence and level that has characterized the story. Both the protagonist and the rest of the characters that appear throughout the series are so well defined that many times they seem to be real people.
In a complicated political context and with a very tempting offer, Jack finds some balance and does not lose the possibility of settling down with his family and moving forward with his projects. I recommend the entire series.

A great fourth book

The China Declaration: THE CHINA AFFAIRS is the fourth and last book in this series written by the talented Brad Good. This ending to the series surprised me and made me happy because it was great. I liked following the lives of the character in four books which caught my attention from the very first one. I liked this series and I will totally recommend reading it! Undoubtedly, it is a book to read and recommend.

Great action thriller

I enjoyed the story, however, the beginning of this book felt like a repeat of some of the last one. I enjoyed the example of determination as Jack held hi ground and resigned rather than take the ridicule of the VP.
