Malory Ruesh's "Inspired...To Reover" will move readers to understand that recovery isn't just a dream but a reality for those in the throughs of addiction. Heartfelt, emotional, and definitely authentic, Malory gives you a front-row seat in witenssing how her world went from a straight-A student to an incarcerated, addicted, drug-user, one facing a life behind bars.
Her World was spiraling out of control, surrounded by those whose lives were equally aimless. Facing a judge who was ready to hand her a life-sentence, in an eleventh-hour miracle, a complete stranger to Malory entered the courtroom and changed her life. She makes a promise that changes her future. Malory is telling her story in hopes to inspire others to RECOVER and regain control of their own lives.
Although I usually don’t like reading memoirs, this was a fascinating read, especially since I know the town. The author shares her story of addiction and addiction recovery. Punishment was not successful, but one person believed in her, and she was “inspired to recover”.
This memoir is well-written. It was a page-turner for me. Malory captures her fears, hurts, sorrows, insecurities, resentments, and dependencies, as well as her determination to recover. I also appreciated her insights and words of wisdom. I loved reading about Chuck, the probation officer who believed in her, and inspired her to love herself and choose to live. This story will empower others to have hope and belief that they too, can heal from their addictions.
