In this insightful book, the author delves into the modern phenomenon of hardening our hearts as a defense mechanism against negativity, a sentiment I resonate with deeply based on my own journey of setting boundaries. However, the author beautifully reminds us not to overlook the inherent light within us, urging readers to embrace humility and take courageous steps towards healing humanity.
Using the Enneagram as a guiding framework, the author shares her personal journey, illuminating the transformative potential of this tool. Egerton's approachable language demystifies the Enneagram, empowering readers to harness its power for personal growth and connection.
This book serves as a gentle guide towards helping others reach their fullest potential while emphasizing the importance of fostering genuine connections amidst diversity. It's a thought-provoking read that invites readers to pause, reflect, and internalize its wisdom at their own pace.
I'm grateful for the newfound understanding of the Enneagram and eagerly anticipate the author's future contributions to this field.
I read this book and I agree with the author that we need to change. I'm curious about the Enneagram which the author talks about. I read what was said and as they went through each point. This to me was a high overview of it and when I looked online there is a lot more. This alone could take someone years or a lifetime to work through it. It is deep inner work and worth it. I have the referenced books on my reading list and will get to them to help me understand the enneagram more. This will be an interesting journey.
the premise of the book is really good and I've read very few takes about how the enneagram can be used in anti-racism work. I think Deborah Egerton is doing such important work and I hope many more people begin working with the intersection of unconscious ego patterns and racialization throughout individual/collective human development. But I didn't really like her descriptions of how diff Enneagram types can/should do IDEA work, it felt a bit too surface level and categorical to me.
