Bliss: 33 Simple Ways to Awaken Your Spiritual Self

Rate this book
We all want to feel closer to a higher power, but in today's rushed world that's often easier wished than done. In "Bliss," a down-to-earth guide that identifies and explains the fundamental spiritual values common to all sacred belief systems, author Michael Goddart makes it easy to imbue even the most mundane moments of your day with a higher consciousness. What are spiritual virtues? They are the feelings, attitudes, activities, or practices that express the divine within you. This wise book shows how taking a meditative walk, bringing your favorite dessert to a friend, reading a book, or devoting just two minutes a day to contemplating your Higher Power -- even while brushing your teeth! -- can bring you a sense of fulfillment and peace.

This is largely a book about spiritual development (as you can see from the title), but it is not overtly religious or lined up with one religion. The chapter I am currently reading is on slowing down, which is something that I need to to, especially this semester, when Mondays and Wednesdays are going to be hurry, scurry days, but Tuesdays are going to be blissfully easy. Today happens to be a Tuesday, and I'm going to make a conscious effort to slow down.
