He studied Fine Arts at Musashino University. At first, he was more interested in illustration, printmaking, and painting than in manga. However, when he considered the best way to make a living from his art, he decided to focus on the world of Japanese comics and trained himself, rather than the usual approach of working for several years as an apprentice to an experienced manga artist.
He was still a student when his first work, The Boss Is an Onee, was published. He soon attracted attention for his distinctive drawing style, his fantastical and melancholic plots, and his use of fantasy characters and anthropomorphic animals.

I was completely bewitched by The Girl from the Other Side series from its first volume. I was enamored by its breathtaking art style and its compelling characters. Although the ending of the main story was somewhat vague and existential, I knew that I had to pick up volume 12: side stories. Revisiting these characters was unexpected and such a joy.
The side stories generally do not tie into the main story’s plot but are a series of one-offs following the quaint, cottage-core-esque lifestyle of Shiva and Teacher. Nothing but good vibes to be had all around. After a somewhat intense and even sad ending to the main story, fans are sure to love this light-hearted volume. However, imagine anyone else reading this would just be confused by it. It was probably a smart move by the publisher to call this volume 12 so that it is unlikely to be anyone’s first look into the series.
Overall it really warmed my heart to see these characters again, and honestly made me want to reread the whole series again.

Reading this book was a fantastic experience for me. It has a complete collection of outstanding artwork. the covers of the volumes are also stunning. the teacher and shiva will always in my mind.

March 19, 2023Premise: The Girl from the Other Side is a sweet, slightly gloomy but engaging fairy tale about a little girl in white (named Shiva) and a humanoid horned black beast (named Teacher) living in a small cottage among the wood, in a world which is divided as Inside and Outside, Cursed and Uncursed.
The people from the Inside fear the Cursed Ones (black and beastly humanoid creatures who wander in the woods) from the Outside, so they protect themselves by surrounding their towns with a great wall to keep the Cursed Ones and their Curse out. But at the outskirt of this wall, live an oblivious little girl who stays with her Teacher and all they have ever wanted is to live in peace.

I liked these stories, but I still hate the initial way this manga finished. I still have lots of questions and that really annoys me. The illustrations are cool, but I wish these side stories actually answered more questions for us. It just felt like an extra fluff piece. Bit disappointed honestly.

3⭐️ per lo stile che resta sempre un mio personale fave; so che i vari “extra” dei manga in genere non vanno mai a toccare il lore della trama principale di una trama ma, che dire, qui un poco ci speravo. Inutile dire che a me sembra palese fosse questo il tipo di storia che l’autore voleva costruire fin dall’inizio: singoli momenti di domestic life tra una figura adulta e una bambina; se avesse mantenuto questo filo invece di impelagarsi in intrecci, misteri ed elementi fantasy che palesemente non sa gestire, forse non sarei così risentita nei confronti di questa serie.

I fell in love with these characters and this world last year, binging the entire series, and though I was a little let down by the ambiguous ending, there was no way I wasn't going to jump at the chance to revisit Shiva and Teacher.
This cute little collection is a series of unrelated side adventures. It's exactly what was needed after such a dark end to the series. A real palate cleanser.
It was so nice to see these past tales of the two just having fun and loving life. From building a snowman to picking apples to bake a pie, this is a wholesome collection from start to finish and a delightful read.
It was so nice to see Shiva and Teacher again, and what's more, see them happy. I really hope they'll be more of these, though the final pages written in Teacher's journal at the end of the book do feel like a fitting close to these adventures. So much so that I almost felt a little emotional that it was over. But we'll see. You never know, I guess.

Not going to write a full review for this one! Just wanted to say that these side stories had so much heart, and it was so fun to see where they fit into the chronology of the story :D So so so cute, my favorite manga series. I truly hope it gets a full animated adaptation one day, not just specials or movies <3 it truly deserves it <3
