The rumors regarding Bruce’s death have been greatly exaggerated! Now, despite the best efforts of the impostor, Hush, the real deal has returned with the help of Talia al Ghul. Together they must travel the world to find their son, Damian Wayne, before it’s too late! The return of Batman and Robin to Future State Gotham can’t be far behind, unless…something terrible happens first!
A great ending to the Future State, or is it a new beginning? This is a good, fast-paced book. It ties the loose ends from the other book very well.
The Future State started with the death of Bruce Wayne the Batman. The Magistrates have list control of the city. Hush's master plan is coming to fruition. The wild cards of a couple of extra Batmen will not be enough to stop him, especially as they are more interested in destroying each other.
I like the manga style black and white book. It all goes down in this book. The future of Gotham and the cowl will be decided. The book finishes with a thumbnail sketch cover gallery.
This was bad. All characters looked and felt like poorly-done parodies of their original, widely-known selves. The art was plain bad, storyline piss-poor, and the overall arc absurd.
Stop me if you've heard this one. Batman, Batman, Batman, and Batman walk into a warzone...
Future State: Gotham comes to a conclusion as Bruce Wayne, Damian Wayne, Dick Grayson, Jace Fox, and Jason Todd all vie for the future of what remains of the city. I applaud writer Dennis Culver for managing to wrap up a lot of outstanding plot threads in one go by basically smashing all of his action figures together at once and seeing who was left standing. I feel like there was a bit more plot to be mined from everything involved, maybe another three or so issues, but it's a satisfying enough conclusion to what's been going on.
The black and white artwork has been hit or miss, and the shift near the end of the series definitely isn't for the better, which is a shame. Not entirely sure why they couldn't have let the previous artists finish what they started, but what do I know?
A fun little experiment, a decent conclusion, if a tad rushed.
Oh my god, this was terrible. Five different Batmen are running around fighting one another. One of them is Damian returned from Hell. He looks just like Zoltar from Battle of the Planets. It all reads like a terrible manga. Then Justin Greenwood draws the last issue and it's one of the worst looking comics I've ever seen come out of DC. The art is horrendous (and this guy is an established artist who has drawn comics that I've liked.) This whole thing reads like bad fan fiction. Someone creating this comic must be related to DC's publisher or something.
How? WITH A CRAP TON OF BATMAN, umm...BATMEN? *Hush is around...still. Can't be a Bat title without Hush STILL covered in bandages. (Boy those things have to stink by now) *Future State Damian is now...Batman 666?? With Ghost Rider-like hellfire Batarangs *Bruce Wayne isn't dead (Future State spoiler! Heh.) *A precog drug addicted Nightwing...er..Batman is there to be DC's resident martyr *Jace Fox aka Future State Batman is there to get his mask beaten off (again)
Is it over? --- Bonus: Since when do explosions look like the bat symbol?
they changed art style in the LAST ISSUE !!!! seriously ?? it ruined everything i loved in this comics!!! and ending was predictable.. and i loved Jace and Jason duo in all Future state Gotham and they both felt like side characters in this finall arc (#13-18)..
While the change of art styles and a change of leads it can feel a bit jarring, the story till comes to a satisfying conclusion for his event arc of a series
Imagine as many different Batmen as you can. No, it's not as many as are in this book! Everyone's a Batman and Damian is back from Hell! Just be careful when you read this- you might become a Batman.
Genuinely loved the series until the ending. Felt forced, too quick, and the final death had no impact? There were no emotions or impact shown. For a book that had been doing well with the feeling of family, it was incredibly disappointing.
