This book is beyond grotesque. Depraved. Intense and heartbreaking.
I love the first half of this book it was very dark. Sometimes a little too dark for my sensitive stomach, but I got through it.
Joker and Gwen are both very disturbing pieces of work. The sickening and heartbreaking things that shaped them into who they are today.. I just have no words for how angry their nightmare lives made me. No one should have to endure such things.
But does this excuse their future choices? No. But I understand why these choices were made and why they continued to nurture the dark fruits of their poisoned trees.
*Now, this one got 3 ✨ because although the first half of this book was beyond intriguing and scary, after that, it turned into a B rated RomCom for some reason, and that just didn't work for me. It lost that thing that made you scared of and care for these people at the same time.
*And why were we not told in the Epilogue, what happened with their unexpected Russian partner, Alexi? His placement was funny and organic within the story and I loved his interactions with Gwen and especially with Joker😂
**Also ALOT of spelling and grammar errors in this one that sometimes threw me out of the flow of the story. So a good editing update for this one, would be great. So these were all the reasons why this one didn't make it past 🌟 ⭐ 🌟 s
If dark and depraved with some comedy, is your cup of tea 🍵 then I would definitely recommend this read. Just please take heed to all of the trigger warnings for this one.

Joker by E.R. Hendricks is a dark romance.
This is the second book of E.R.'s that I have read, and it definitely won't be my last. I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I really enjoyed getting Gwen and J's points of views throughout the book.
I would recommend this book if you like dark romances, mafia romances, or erotic romances.

Fast paced and action packed joyride I couldn’t put down!!!
This is my first read by this talented queen and I need an entire series with these characters!!! Nothing says therapy like a little mafia/human trafficking takedown.
Gwen is young woman who is, afflicted with schizoaffective disorder, determined to take down the men that murdered her parents and finish what her dad started. I couldn’t love heroine anymore than I do this one - she’s smart, funny, is a good shot and even better with knives.
Joker got his name with what he leaves at scene, he is cold and ruthless with his jobs until he gets told take out Gwen. But instead of taking her out, he makes her his Queen. I adored how this man may have had a nightmarish childhood, but he overcame his past and came out on the other side stronger and will burn the world down for his Gwen.
I loved everything about this book and truly did not want to see it end. The action, banter, spice and character/plot growth and flow are pure perfection. E.R. made me fall in love with a couple of characters very quickly and I would love to see Lexi get his own book! Definitely part of my favorite reads list for this month and I will be checking more works by this talented author.

This is a retelling of the Joker and Harley Quinn. But the female is named Gwen. She is schizophrenic and hunts down child molesters. And the Joker works for the mafia, he's been ordered to take out Gwen. However, he realizes he can't do that cause she understands him. And him her.
I wanted to like this book very much but I found it to be lacking depth. It more so eluded to Gwen and Jokers past that caused their trauma. But never went into depth on it. And the story didn't flow well. It seemed there was a lot missing in between chapters. I wanted more explanation on their individual characters. They both had a lot of potential but it was just too simple.

Y’all if you have not read Hendricks books what are you doing with your life!
If you are looking for a Harley and joker retelling with all the deep dark and nastiness than look no further. This was all kinds of twisted and has a heck of a lot of trigger so please read them before you read the book. The darkness between J and Gwen matches so perfectly that even with the crazy they both exude you want what they have without a doubt. It was bloody, spicy, sexy with a psychological hold on you.

This is only rated a 4 because it did get a little more twisted in ways that aren’t really my thing and with my vivid imagination made some areas a little hard to read. With that being said, check trigger warnings before starting this book!
This was a Harley Quinn and Joker spin off style story with our main characters being Gwen and “Joker”. Gwen is a mid twenties women with severe childhood trauma that has resulted in mental health issue and heart for vengeance against those who hurt her and others. A part of her mental health issues have resulted in other personalities in her head. I found these characters to be pretty enjoyable.
One of Gwen’s acts of vengeance puts her on the lit of Joker who works for the mob. Joker is a mid 30s hit man with severe childhood trauma as well. Immediately they are drawn to each other and although it is very strange and new to them both, the quickly realize they understand each other and get off on the same dark and twisted things. They try to fight it but ultimately lose in some very naughty ways.
Together, and with the help of the adorable character Alexi, they take down the people threatening there happiness and lives of others. Ultimately this story ends with a happy ending but it does get very dark throughout. The smut scenes in this book were 10/10 and character development was enough to know them and what’s going on. I would have loved a little more depth into each of them, but all in all this was an easy read with plenty of steam. I would absolutely read something else from this author.

Holy shit!! I am completely blown away.This is the first book I have read from this author and I am completely obsessed. This book gave me major Harley Quinn and Joker vibes and I absolutely loved that.

Gwen is trying to get revenge for seeing what she did as a child and for everything she has went through in life since then. After leaving the group homes and going through the treatments she was going through the voices in her head have not stopped. They have only gotten worse.
J is called because they want him to get rid of Gwen because she killed someone who was working with them. What J doesn't expect is to feel drawn towards her and her darkness. He has no feelings or emotions but everything changes once he sets his eyes on her.
I loved J and Gwen together. I loved how they understood each other even if they weren't fully talking to each other. I loved the darkness that went along with them. I could not stop reading this book once I started.
I can't wait to get this book on my shelf because I loved it so much.

I fell in love with Gwen's spunk and tough as nails personality as soon as I started reading about her. I love how E.R Hendricks created Gwen as a strong, kick butt, back down from no man character. And then there was J, the man that was paid to kill Gwen. That all changed when he met her and found someone just as twisted and messed up as he was.
I don't want to give too much away in this review that may keep you from reading the book for yourself. I couldn't put this book down once I started. I was fully invested in all of the characters. And it was a beautiful thing to see Gwen and J's relationship blossom in its own deliciously possessive way. Take it from me, all of the books that I have read from E.R Hendricks have been freaking amazing.

i read this book purely based on vibes. i had no idea what i was going into, i went in blind.
this book is dark, depraved. it does have a few aspects of comedic relief in there but please don’t let that fool you; this book has extremely heavy topics

Gwen has her demons, a darkness from the past that pushes her through the day seeking vengence. Joker is the hitman for the mob, he has his own darkness and when he is set on the path of Gwen he finds himself drawn to hers. The feelings they bring out in one another send them for a spin but together they form a bond of twisted darkness and will take out anyone who threatens their bubble of sweet darkness. Well written a unique twist in the Harley and Joker stories, with dark themes, sizzling hot twisting desires, blood play, violence, past traumas, and more!

I've had the pleasure of being able to read all of E.R Hendricks books...but this one "Joker" I have to say would have to be a favorite. You have your sense of Harley Quinn and Joker vibes but with an even better twist ! Jaxon (aka joker) and Gwen are the perfect twisted minded couple which in a sense helps level each other out! A PERFECT combination of dark and twisted love with psychotic minds! absolutely loved this book and could not put it down ! I can not wait to see what else our author has to give us !

Just Holy Cow
I saw this book posted in a book group on Facebook and since I've always liked the Joker and Harley Quinn vibe I figured it would be good. I was so freaking right too. I got so into it I almost cried when it ended I literally couldn't put it down. The twists and turns held my attention and kept me on the edge of my seat. The spice was really hot too. If you are like me and love the Joker/Harley Quinn vibe you seriously need to read this book because you will love it.

I felt the story was pretty rushed. There were a lot of things going on that would have made for really good, longer book. I liked both main characters but I felt Jaxon could have been a bit more ruthless and perhaps touched on a bit more. Gwen’s character was pretty developed but I felt that there were holes in Jaxon’s. He was too shallow for my liking. I was a little disappointed with the Joker/Harley Quinn take. I felt they were too “likable” and redeemable as characters. Gwen was ruthless but she had a motive. It just wasn’t what I was wanting or expecting.

After reading all of ER Hendricks other works I was very excited to see what she deemed as different and pushing the limits. She definitely pushed them! However, this was still wonderfully written about two broken people helping each other. This author can also write spicy scenes like nobodies business!! That’s in this book as well as all of her others 🥵. If you have no TW, or can deal with these, I highly recommend this book ❤️

This book is a play on the relationship of Joker and Harley Quinn, but with serial “unalivers”. But it’s totally fine, because they are the good guys if serial unalivers had a good guy category! There is past trauma history for both MC’s which make them similar in ways. It’s a short story with lots of gore!😂 🌶️✅ Romance ✅ Gore ✅ Revenge ✅ triggers✅
I highly recommend reading the trigger warnings, as this a dark book. If you’re like me and have no triggers, run and get this book!

⚠️ Trigger warning at the beginning had me kind of nervous to read this, but I am glad I kept reading. It is a page turner for sure and had a great ending. The character descriptions were very detailed.

This is a dark and wild ride so hold on tight. I loved that the mcs are just as screwed up in the head as eachother and rather than try and ‘fix’ one another they just let their devils dance together. Their imperfections are perfect for eachother. This book is unapologetically dark and delicious. Great story, great writing

I wish this book had more depth and the characters developed a little more. And for being billed as so dark, I didn't find it so bad. They kill people who are arguably bad or "deserving." Meh. If you're looking for a quick read that skims the surface and doesn't require a lot of you, you'll probably enjoy this one.

This book was by far one of the best books I’ve read in awhile, I love psychology and the thrill aspect of the patient/doctor relationship was different but I enjoyed it personally. The author was very good with making it hard to predict the outcomes of things but it gave you an edge that made you want to continue it!!

Fuck yea!!!! This was absolutely amazing!! Gwen and Joker/J/Jaxon are messed up and awesome! Alexi was hilarious and I loved his interactions with them both. The mutual trauma, lasting issues and understanding was honestly very emotional. It was a perfect blend of everything dark and disturbed mixed with sexy and hot!! Those piercings!!!!

This was a Blind Date with a Book. In all honesty, I probably would have not picked it out in the store. But glad I did end up reading it. Worth the read for sure! Definitely a Harley Quin/Joker style dark romance, but with a happy ending.

My love for this book is based purely on the vibes. I loved the story and the characters. There were a few spelling errors but it didn’t bother me at all when the plot was good

This was a great read. Perfect blend of crazy, funny, and delicious darkness. Gwen and Joker are amazing. I absolutely loved their chemistry and banter. Their backstories were heartbreaking but definitely helped you understand why they are the way they are and why they just fit so well. If you are a fan of Joker and Harley Quinn, this is the book for you. I definitely recommend it.
