2.75* I downloaded this book for free on kindle. I feel like this story could've been better if it was a full novel. I am intrigued enough that I'll most likely continue with the series. But I'm making an assumption that book 1 & 2 could've been combined. I did find the concept intriguing. But the characters weren't very fleshed out. And I felt like it moved too fast. But it was only a 50 page novella so can't expect too much.
Doctor Steele takes a job as Director of the psychiatric wing of Mercy Hospital, a lucrative position for a young, recent graduate. But things seem off, when another doctor takes one of his patients claim a virus in Daryl. Things are bizarre, he's told Daryl passed. But where's the body..... to be continued.
I fully wasn't prepared to like this book. It's rather short, and the writing and pacing can feel a bit odd and stunted in places. However, as I read on, I found I actually enjoyed what I was reading and came to want to know what happens next.
For a novella, this was very well written. It was quick, short, and to the point. However, it does not feel as though any information was left out. If you are looking for a quick, sort of spooky, mystery read, this is perfect for the lunch hour. I will be checking out the next book in the series.
With this book only being 59 pages, it keeps a steady beat while providing enough character/world building. It was an okay read, but probably not one that I'll continue.
If you need a short novella to pass the time, I would recommend this.
Book is in a 3rd person pov so not to sure how I’m feeling about it. It’s definitely a good quick read. Added the 2nd book to my KU but think I’m gonna circle back to this series.
Super quick read (I think like 50 something pages).
Young, newly doctored psychiatrist becomes the department head of a rural hospital. He quickly notices that there is something amiss and when he confronts the problem, he realizes there is more to the story. I believe this is part of a series, but I probably won't continue. It wasn't a bad read, I just have no interest in continuing the series.
