Pandora: Total Destruction is a tabletop roleplaying game where players take on the role of untrained supers with very destructive or potent powers capable of amazing feats and damage. Think of it as the X-Men meets Akira.
This is a game of incredibly powerful supers learning to control their abilities in a systemically flawed environment while learning about, and attempting to overcome, a villainous plot. It uses a structured scene economy and some simple mechanical systems to do so.
The basic mechanic is that you roll a die to overcome an obstacle. If you use your power to help, then you add in your Overpower die. When you do that and succeed by more than what you needed, then you generate Havoc, which you spend to create collateral damage.
Visually, the artwork makes me immediately think of Akira. Small but obviously powerful figures standing alone. A quote from the game’s website describes it as “X-Men meets Akira” and I think that’s accurate for both the art and the game.
It looks very interesting, and I will try to get it to the table.
