This is a heart rendering good read. It's about life and change and hurt and pain but through God you can get through anything. I am a Christian but I not as good as a Christian as I should be but reading books like this you get hope, romance and bible lessons all in one. I love the style and the flow of the story.
It takes you to the heart of a town, like most, that has a history and pain that get carried down though generations but with the help of a stranger they all pull together. Because we all, in the end, want what this story brings you, the love of family, friends and a town that accepts you for who you are. I can't wait to read the rest of Melody Carlson's books.
The story its self was kind of typical romance and predictable but the message behind it was very good. As a Christian you want to find a spouse that is committed to Gods word and loves others as they love his or her self. people say you can learn from your mistakes which is very true but you can also learn from others mistakes as well. In this book the main character Jayne learned that exact lesson when her fiancée dumped her. Looking back she saw the unchristian things he said and did. Sometimes
This book talks a lot about horses so I loved that. I am not sure if I'd have liked the book as much if there were not horses, but I guess that is a moot point. I also enjoyed the Indian reservation talk and how the main character talks out about issues of justice, even when it's unpopular. A sweet story but it also made me think. And want to ride a horse NOW.
This another really good book by a new favorite author. I really enjoy wonderful clean Christian books. It is so refreshing to read her stories. I highly recommend her books.
I am not a horse person. I did enjoy the part about Bailey and how much Jayne did care for him. It have horses and romance. The part I did love most though was the showing of how God would want us all to love one another no matter the skin color or cultures. Beautiful written and left me with many things to think about.
This new series,Second Chances, reads as well as the Whispering Pines series. I'm so happy to have another series by Melody Carlson to read and recommend to others.
It's been a while since I've read a Melody Carlson book. I enjoyed this book. The storyline with the native Americans was written in a way that was respectful and interesting.
Heartland Skies is fun and lighthearted. I enjoyed this as a break from more serious reading, but if I read very many books like this in a row, I would quickly get tired of them. I had the ending pegged from very early in. The pacing is good, but I dislike how quickly the characters jump from one romantic relationship to another. Also, things just happen way too easily for Jayne.
Over all, it's rather shallow but a fun change of pace!
