A New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author, Penelope Sky is known for her dark romance that makes you fall for her characters….no matter how dark they seem. Her books are being translated into several languages around the world, and she’s sold more than a million books worldwide. She lives in a small town in California with her husband, where she spends most of her time writing on the back porch.
This one was missing something in comparison to her other stuff. Maybe this is an earlier series of hers? I don’t know. Anyway. Grave and Elise kind of hijacked the book midway through, which I thought was odd.
****spoilers***
And I’m hoping, what with the ending of this book, that Camille and Cauldron don’t immediately jump into bed with other people like in some of her other series. When that fits, it fits. But I’m not in the mood right now lol.
I’m torn. I LOVE Penelope Sky’s writing but I have to wonder how many times can you write basically the exact same story and get away with it? And why do all her books have to be at least three books long, if it’s the same concept anyway? For some reason I thought this was originally announced as a duet and I thought FINALLY - that’s perfect. And now it’s minimum three books again…
I hated the multiple pov with Grave and Elise. I’m sure this will continue in the third book as well. I skipped all of their chapters - I want Camille’s and Cauldron’s story!
One thing I absolutely love in Penelope’s books is the fact that the hero’s really have to grovel when they fucked up.
My favorite part in this book was “Baby… you make me happy.” That was perfect 🥺.
This book was a bit frustrating. The so called Hero says he is only capable of so much, if you've read the author's previous work then it's more or less the same type, no feelings. The heroine agrees that this is ok, she feels more and then is disappointed he can't give her more. Pretty much rinse, repeat, book 1 then book 2.
Cliffhanger ending..... Huge cliffhanger ending.
The names, Cauldron and Grave, honestly. The romance between the first couple is not as prominent in this one as it also has Grave moving on, which I felt he did very very quickly once he got the message. And he seemed much, much nicer to be with than Cauldron.
No intimate scenes other the the Hero and heroine of each couple. So Cauldron and Camille only with each other and Grave and Elise with each other. Each couple had a POV each.
And the ending with Cauldron made no sense to me. She was in just as much danger if she hadn't said I love you.

Holy Crap! Better man was fantastic. I love how Cauldron stepped up (kinda.. IYKYK) and how we saw more of Graves. I am so so hooked. I was also obsessed with the relationship between Graves and Elise. I could not devour that fast enough. Overall this was a solid read! Now onto book 3! 4 stars! ~Ratula ❤️
Lets start with the names. One brothers name is Cauldron as in the pot witches stir and the others one name is Grave like grave robber. We pick up where book one left off. Camille acts like she is going to leave but her heart melts for Cauldron and she is in his arms once again. The sex scenes are the same and when I day the same I mean “he falls in between my slick thighs” “tears slide from my eyes its do good”. Even when Grave finds a new “interests” tears fall from her eyes to. Grave spends a month with Elise and now they cant be apart. Elise starts off like she is going to be a great feisty character that isnt going to take any shit and tells Grave she doesn’t fall in love easy and isnt looking for a man only for her to almost immediately fall for Grave and not want to take any more clients. This act takes place like over 10-20 pages. The pac is insane. I think I have my authors mixed up cause this cant be the same author of buttons and pain! What tha hell is going on here. I made additional notes. There are some grammatical errors that I could overlook if the book was good but when she puts her legs around his neck for a kiss I was like “bitch whet!” Why would she need to put het legs there? Are they wrestling? Did I miss a page? Cauldron we know your mom was assaulted while you where hiding under the bed we dont need to read about it in every chapter bitch! And Elise how are you a strong single mother falling in love in a 4 week time span and all pf a sudden cant do your “job” anymore? Girl stop just stop.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I hope that Camille ends up with someone else who doesn’t treat her like a possession and make that asshole cauldron regret everything. I was team cauldron; but at the end, I really didn’t like him nor felt like he deserved her . I truly believes everyone deserves to have true love once in their lifetime and I don’t think any of those two are it for her

This book had two different stories: Cauldron and Camille - Again liked and disliked the h but in this book I disliked her more, acting more childish, at parts making zero sense and continues to give too many chances! I have to give it to her, she puts all hers cards on the table, she is totally up front about what she wants, and she won't settle with less. Then we have the H that even trying is the biggest asshole, he is bitter, but has a magic D!
Grave & Elise: Well, that escalate rapidly! The h comes out being a badass, contract with a timeline, no feelings, but after some rides on the magic D she is the one breaking her one rules! Really liked that their "relationship" is totally transparent, they don't hide anything from each other (except the blonde elephant in the room) when they first meet, I actually liked their story more. The H with all his flaws, is 1000 times better than is brother! (like I said in the first book, she was better with him)
The story is really Penelope style, very similar to other of her books!
Oh my, Penelope you have outdone yourself with book 2. I can not wait to see what you have coming for book 3.
My favorite part of this book was that as new characters got introduced into the storyline that we got some new POVs as well. This isn't something that happens in most books, I loved it.
Did you have to tear my heart out at the end of this book? Honestly I'm not sure how I'll make it until book 3 comes out.
Want to know something? I started this book at 3am, and finished it at 3pm. The same day, 12 hours later. This book was hard to put down, so hard......I probably would have finished it sooner if it weren't for the fact I fell asleep for a few hours today. But this series was worth the loss of sleep.
In "Better Man," the second installment of Penelope Sky's captivating series, she truly surpasses herself, delivering a narrative that leaves readers yearning for the third book. The novel stands out with its introduction of fresh characters and perspectives, a creative approach not commonly seen in many books which I found immensely enjoyable.
Sky masterfully weaves in new points of view as she introduces these new characters into the plotline, adding depth to her storytelling and keeping readers on their toes. This unique narrative strategy is one of the many reasons why "Better Man" shines brightly among its contemporaries.
However, be warned: Sky doesn't shy away from tugging at your heartstrings. The climax of this book is a gut-wrenching emotional rollercoaster that will leave you questioning how you'll ever endure the wait for book 3. All in all, "Better Man" by Penelope Sky is an exemplary sequel that sets high expectations for the next installment.

I've never been so confused over my feelings on a book in my life....
Did I enjoy the book? yes
But there were just a few things that sorta irked me if I'm honest. Like why did we need Graves POV. I didn't want any type of redemption for this man, like at all 😭🤣 the man was about to rape Camille at one point and it was just brushed off and now we're given his POV and a love interest 😒. I feel like his overall personality wasn't in line with how he was perceived in the first book and the beginning of this one. He just changed and turned into this hot, sexy alphahole with all this control and hardness that just wasn't there before. 🤣 what happened to the crazy, obsessive, irrational man that was captivated by Camille 🤣.
And don't get me started on Elise. She was introduced as this high end bad ass sex worker that doesn't take shit from anyone and doesn't get attached to clients period. LMAOOO!! So please tell me how in the space of like 3 weeks she falls head over heels for Grave and completely changes her tune 🤣😭 it just made no sense!!!.
I don't know man, like I still enjoyed the book don't get me wrong but I'm only reading it for Camille and Cauldrons story at this point🤣 I'm petty I know.
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

As much as I like Penelope's books, I'm kind of tired of the same plot, a kidnapped heroine, an alpha man that usually takes 3 books to recognize that his in love with the h. Also I don't like Camille at all, her behaviour it's childish.
I've came to love Penelope Sky's cliffhanger endings, they always have me wanting the next book sooner than it's due to release. Better Man was worth waiting for.
Cauldron and Camille's relationship is extremely rocky to start with - she hates him, can't stand to be around him and wants to escape and after what he done I really don't blame her. But then Cauldron has a change of heart and wants to try, but trying is hard for him.
We also get some of Grave and Elise - Grave finally moves on from wanting Camille after he meets straight talking Elise. Their relationship is supposed to be short, just a few weeks until their contract ends but it doesn't fully end.
I'm loving that Cauldron is coming to help Grave. Even if it was a deal to begin with, I don't think it's just honouring a deal anymore.
Passion that leads to heartbreak. One rule that is broken. New enemies that are made. Brothers reuniting. Better Man has everything - include two alpha males who are catching feelings for their ladies.
I have no idea what will happen in Harder Betrayal. One thing I do know, the wait us going to be hard.
Once again Penelope knocks it out of the park!! This story pickups up with Camille and Cauldron! Camille is trying everything in her power to get away from him. She goes so far as to throw her mattress over the balcony and jump. She makes it over and then climbs the concrete wall and falls and sprains her ankle. With a sprained ankle she is to stay off it so she can’t continue trying to escape. Cauldron realizes he cares for her and tries to woo her over! Once she realizes that he isn’t going to give up she finally lowers her defenses and they have a hot relationship! The love triangle continues and Grave does the unthinkable. Cauldron goes through hell to find her and she helps reunite the brothers and Cauldron’s father. The Brothers agree to fight Grave’s enemy together. We learn more about Grave and how he is with his new lady Elise. I really love how he treats Elise and I hope we get to read more about them! Of course Cauldron becomes a d*ck again and does some stupid to Camille. I can’t wait to see how this story ends! I absolutely loved this story! It had my emotions all over the place. The perfect second book in this series!
Better man starts off with Camille doing everything possible to get away from Cauldron. Finally one night she throws her mattress over the balcony and ties her bedding together which got Cauldrons attention. Just when she thinks she's gotten away she jumps over the wall springing her ankle. Her ankle sets her back a couple weeks. Just when you think everything is coming together they are on the yacht and Graves comes to steal Camille shooting Cauldron in the arm twice. Luckily when Graves was going to rape Camille he stopped because of possibly reconciling with Cauldron. Cauldron had to swallow alot of pride to reach out to his father that he blames for his mother's death to get Camille back. The night before he comes after Graves a enemy of his almost murdered him but Camille saved him. Once Cauldron and Camille go home you think they are great for each other. Camille slips and tells she loves him and Cauldron avoiding her eventually ended their relationship. Such a cliff hanger having to wait for book 3 but I know Pene won't disappoint. I can't wait to read more about Graves and Elise. I really think there relationship will be hot!
We find out in this book that Grave, is Caudron's half brother and a human body parts black market trafficker. I had know idea you could become filthy rich doing that sort of thing. To my surprise, just when I thought things were going to get monotonous, a side story develops between Grave and Elise. So there is a lot that happens is this book. Cauldron shows a sex video of him and Camille to Grave. Cauldron thought Grave knew about the assination attempt ochrestrated by Grave's mother years ago. So Cauldron has an axe to burn. Camille feels used and betrayed. She's just a means to an end for Cauldron to get back at Grave. Cauldron does not want to let Camille go so she tries to escape by jumping out her window. She breaks her foot. They eventually get back together. Grave kidnaps her at sea. Bad guys come for Grave. Camille saves Grave. She reunites with Cauldron, but when she tells him she loves him, he breaks it off with her. Devastated she leaves.

This was mountain of emotions like you have no idea.
So we continue with the story of Camille and Cauldron, and I actually have a lot of thing to say about them. THEY’RE SO TOXIC FOR EACH OTHER 😫 i mean, first of all Cauldron didn’t let Camille go with his brother so Camille had to stay with him against her will. They obviously pass that and stay together BUT in the meantime have a lot of fightsss. Sometimes i was on Camille’s side and sometimes Cauldron’s side. And i’m not going to say more about it because it can be SPOILER but i do want to say that they really need to be separate for a while and really think about all of it, specially Cauldron because you can tell that he loves her but he’s so stuborn with not letting go his past that it can actually made a woman give up on hopes.
I’m really excited to read more about Elise and Grave, they really have such chemistry that can make a room hot 🔥 i do hope they have their own book but let’s see how surprise us the master Penelope, i trust in her ways to tell us the story.
The waiting for the next book it’s going to be so hard but i’m excited to see how the Camille and Cauldron’s story is going to end.
Well I wonder if you would agree or disagree that Cauldron would do anything to get Camille back! Do you think Grave is going to force her into anything? Well not going to spoil anything but Grave should turn Camille over without any type of payment after what she did for him. Also Grave made a promise that if Cauldron cast her away when he is done with her he will never.take her back. These guys seem to really be hooked or are.they. Can Camille find everlasting love with Cauldron or is it just a game? If Grave gives her back can he find someone to ease his desire? I know I am full of questions but this story is all over the place between the Brothers and father and women but in a good way. Penelope did it again as always never disappoints!!!the final book will be out at the end of October!!!
First my Rant ….NOW there is a third book coming in OCTOBER ????!!!!! Not happy I read this book now at all….. Penelope knows how to take a story and s-t-r-e-t-c-h it out until it become so repetitive I feel like I could have foretold the plot ,which so far is not much … Elise is new and having her ask Grace to be her long time client was the only surprise in the book . Cauldron has carried a grudge since he was 3 year old , I get it and I don’t. Has he ever considered a therapist ? Camille is extremely demanding and very bitchy for a girl who stowed away on his cauldrons boat hoping for his help. Somewhat disappointed 3.5
OMG I'm so torn right now. This was a mountain of emotions like you have no idea. My only issue was I didn't care for Grave and Elise POV. I felt it took away from our main focus which was Cauldron and Camille. But if Grave is going to be the next book then I want all my attention to be on his story. Also I wouldn't mind reading a novella about Grave and Cauldron dad something tell me that would be a interesting read. Overall a great read but I do hope Cauldron man's up and realize that he in love with Camille before it's too late. As always my reviews are totally voluntarily and no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are completely my own.
So again I am loving all the characters and the premise of this story. I love Camille because despite her past she still is optimistic that Cauldron will eventually love her. Unfortunately that proves to be wrong and she is hurt for the third time by him. But I still want Cauldron to realize he does love her and man up.
I did like the author bringing in Grave and Elise. And I liked that the brothers are now trying to reunite, and even the father coming back into the picture.
We now have two women, who because of their circumstances have had to use their beauty to make money with sex, and both have fallen in love with men who can't return that love. A set up for a great story.
BUT...now comes the spoilers to the story. 1) There were some grammar errors that should not have been missed, frustration one. 2) There was so much repeativeness in the descriptions, the back story, and the sex scenes that I was getting board, frustration two. 2) And the worst one is the writer just not thinking though the plot. You have Camille who is so in love with Cauldron and continually tells us that "he is dominent in bed and does all the work", she's never had a "client" who didn't make her do the work, who was interested in her pleasure as well.....repeated over and over and over. Ok, well that would be good except that she spent three years with Grave, so we have to assume she is talking about Grave as well since he was her "client" for three years. Now we have Elise come into the story who is now saying that Grave is dominent and "does all the work" and she has never had a "client" who didn't make her do the work, who was interested in her pleasure. Sound familiar....frustration three.
I will read book three because I am invested now in all four characters, and truthfully I don't expect much better writing, but I hope the author takes some of the reviews, and there have been a lot I have read after book one, and puts them to good use in her writing. She has the abilty I think if she just takes the time to really apply herself.
Bonne lecture!
The writing is OK. I liked the spunkiness of the Camille in the first book but this one is all over the place.
First - I'm not a big fan of sentence fragments. I'm not a stylistic critic but I find it distracting. Addison Cain does it sometimes and it seems to be OK in her stories but I usually notice it.
I found her escape attempt kind of stupid at the beginning - no planning and really, he was right there from the beginning. It was pretty reckless. She was caught - she only made it that far cause he let her. Then she hurts her ankle after he already warns her that it's rocky on the other side? I wanted to say "He TOLD you so".
I felt like when she finally decided to forgive C, it was like a switch - right back to their old ways. I wasn't convinced of the deal she made. It felt a bit forced - their reconciliation.
When Graves finally comes to get her (after he recovers from a fracture that he got from trying to help her in the last book, just saying) BECAUSE she had asked him to do so in the last book, she shoots one of his guys and resists going?! Come on. This is getting ridiculous. She's annoying me.
So...I'm stopping. I have this sudden need to escape this world. I don't find her the prize that the two MMCs do.
Also - I feel like this plot is similar to the last book I read by this author.
