The sixth installment of the graphic novel adaptation of Cassandra Clare's bestselling The Mortal Instruments! Now that the third mortal instrument has been revealed, and after Sebastian’s betrayal, a battle to secure it is inevitable. Will Clary be able to unite the different factions in time to stop Valentine’s plan?
Cassandra Clare was born to American parents in Tehran, Iran and spent much of her childhood travelling the world with her family, including one trek through the Himalayas as a toddler where she spent a month living in her father’s backpack. She lived in France, England and Switzerland before she was ten years old.
Since her family moved around so much she found familiarity in books and went everywhere with a book under her arm. She spent her high school years in Los Angeles where she used to write stories to amuse her classmates, including an epic novel called “The Beautiful Cassandra” based on a Jane Austen short story of the same name (and which later inspired her current pen name).
After college, Cassie lived in Los Angeles and New York where she worked at various entertainment magazines and even some rather suspect tabloids where she reported on Brad and Angelina’s world travels and Britney Spears’ wardrobe malfunctions. She started working on her YA novel, City of Bones, in 2004, inspired by the urban landscape of Manhattan, her favourite city. She turned to writing fantasy fiction full time in 2006 and hopes never to have to write about Paris Hilton again. Cassie’s first professional writing sale was a short story called “The Girl’s Guide to Defeating the Dark Lord” in a Baen anthology of humor fantasy. Cassie hates working at home alone because she always gets distracted by reality TV shows and the antics of her cats, so she usually sets out to write in local coffee shops and restaurants. She likes to work in the company of her friends, who see that she sticks to her deadlines.
City of Bones was her first novel. Sword Catcher is her most recent novel.

“I love you, and i Will love you until i die. And if theres a life after that, i’ll love you then.”
even though i reread The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare last year, every time i pick up the next volume in this graphic novel series, it just makes me want to re-experience the whole thing all over again.
this volume covers the rest of City of Glass and i can never get bored of seeing Cassandra Clare’s characters come to life with Cassandra Jean’s illustrations. I always felt like the third book set everything up for the rest of the series so well so i’m really excited to read the next volumes!!
Still happy with these graphic novels. I really feel like they capture each characters. I'm looking forward to the next ones. They are a light read, but still they are entertaining :)
Obviously, I enjoyed the last volume enough to dive straight into this one, and honestly... I can't even rag on this one too hard. A LOT happened here, and for the most part, I thought it was handled pretty well.
Valentine's ultimate demise was very, very anticlimactic and almost cartoonish, but to be fair to the graphic novel, it was anticlimactic and cartoonish in the actual novels too. So really, his dramatic little downfall is right at home in this format. Still, I think they could've done a little more with it. For everything that led up to Valentine and the threat he posed, his end just doesn't have the weight you'd expect it to.
My bigger issue was how casually everyone seemed to react to the Inquisitor dying. Valentine’s projection just RIPPED HIS HEART OUT and everybody basically carried on with the regularly scheduled programming.
Where was the shock? The screaming? The general sense of OH MY GOD, HE JUST RIPPED THAT MAN'S HEART OUT???
And listen, I didn't care for the old bastard either, but damn. His death deserved a little more than that. I thought that entire moment was poorly handled.
I'm still not a fan of the art style, and at this point I don't think I ever will be, but this was a really solid volume. A lot was accomplished and covered without the pacing feeling completely out of control, which has definitely been an issue for me with some of the earlier volumes.
Overall, a very decent volume and easily one of the better ones so far. Clearly it did something right because I basically inhaled it after finishing Volume 5.
This was so much fun again. The further along we get in the series, the more fun the graphic novels become I think. With Vol. 6 book 3 in the series gets fully wrapped up. Loved it.
These graphic novels are fairly light reads, but they capture the essence of the shadow hunter world, the storylines and especially the characters really well.
Can't wait for the next Volume and to start the next book in the series. So excited to read book 4-6 in graphic novels as well, but it'll probably take a while yet before that's complete haha.
Definitely recommend this graphic novel series, it's a great addition to read on top of the shadow hunter chronicles novels if you're already familiar with them and if you're not familiar with the novels yet, I think these graphic novels are a great read as well to get acquainted with a new to you fantasy world.
Docking points purely for the fact that Isabelle's brother just died and the first thing on her mind is sleeping with Simon as a distraction??! Using his death as an excuse to get them to hook up is extremely morally reprehensible tbh. There's a time and place and this wasn't neither, the author could've simply waited or changed the plot-line instead of rushing them. Art is lovely as always!
This was one of the better installments in the graphic novels! I feel like it more accurately depicts the story in comparison to some of the other volumes.
