He’s her only protection From a killer’s obsession
Widowed artist Olivia Hickman starts renting out the Manhattan loft she can no longer afford to live in. When two of her guests are murdered, Detective Jack Stone fears that Olivia might be the real target—and that his attraction to her is clouding his judgment. Will whisking her away from the city save her life, or will it put them both on a collision course with death?
Danielle M Haas is a stay-at-home mom turned author. When she isn’t writing fast-paced romantic suspense novels with mysteries to live for and romance to die for, she’s busy being a taxi driver to her two busy kids and forcing her introverted self to talk to other soccer moms. Her kids and husband are her world, which is also shared with her hyper Bernie doodle, two sassy cats, and one leopard gecko who’s happy to chill on a rock all day. Her days are packed with cuddles, kisses, and a brain constantly thinking of new ways to create danger and romance for her next book.
I liked this book a lot. Olivia is a widow, and an artist. But needs to rent the loft she and her husband were going to live in. Well circumstances didn’t allow that to happen. Her husband’s death lead her to rent the loft for extra money. It was still hard for her when she had to see people there. But it had to be done. The day the renter was to leave she went over there to clean for new people. She didn’t expect to see what she saw. When Detective Jack Stone entered the loft with his partner. Jack asked her many questions about what happened, and about the young women. Olivia was clueless at first about how these things could be happening. Jack brought several things to her attention. She finally saw what he was saying. She didn’t want to believe it.
Jack felt that Olivia was holding things back from him. There unforeseen things that happened, and he wanted to protect her. But the hardest thing was he was falling for her as he did once before. It didn’t turn out well.
More to come.
Preorder this book. You don’t be sorry. I would highly recommend the first Matched with Murder. Ms. Haas does not disappoint.
Olivia Hickman’s husband was killed a year ago by a hit and run driver. Now she has her art and the Manhattan loft that was their home. Renting out the loft, while she lives elsewhere, has enabled to keep the home that means so much to her. When her renter is killed, Detective Jack Stone is assigned the case. Jack is recovering from a previous case where his informant, someone he was close to, was killed. When a second renter is killed, Olivia is threatened not to rent the loft again or she may be next. Jack works with Olivia to delve into her past to find the person who is targeting her life and career. Was her husband’s death really an accident? Powerful emotions as Jack realizes that he has become personally involved in her case and her life. She is the “one” and he must keep her safe and end the threat. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation, from the author, for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
I enjoy a good romantic suspense story and Booked to Kill was very good! Olivia Hickman is a young widowed artist. She is trying to keep her memories of her late husband alive by renting out their beautiful NYC apartment because she isn't ready to let it go. When she discovers her latest renter dead in the apartment she contacts the police and Detective Jack Stone enters her life. Jack is immediately attracted to Olivia but knows from past experience that only bad things happen if he gets involved personally into a case. Danger and death swirl around Olivia and Jack keeps getting drawn further into her life to find and capture a killer before Olivia becomes the final target. I really liked their story. Jack and Olivia are both complex characters with many layers. Booked to Kill kept me turning the pages to the very end. It was told from dual POV and had action, suspense, heartbreak, healing and ultimately and HEA. Can't wait to read more of Ms. Haas books.
Olivia has had a rough year after her husband died and things are about to get worse after a murder in the loft she and he husband use to live in that she now rents out, what's more is she doesn't expect to feel a spark between one of the Detectives working on the case. I really liked how both Olivia and Jack have loved and lost in different ways so makes them both wary of the feelings they have for each other and try to fight them, then there is all the potential suspects to choose from who in some form or another make you distrust them. There are some great twists and turns as well as a roller coaster of emotions to go through as you work through who the killer is with it being at times you wonder how much more Olivia can take before she breaks, thankfully Jack is there and you are cheering them on to see how good they are together if only they will both get out alive!
Olivia Hickman, A widow And artist has a killer after her This killer won't stop until he has what he wants. Taking out anyone in threre way.. Sometimes a path has to be met for a killer To fill Like there in control.

I’ve waited over a year for a follow up to Nov. 2021’s Matched for Murder and it was a well worth the wait. In this installment (Reading Matched for Murder isn’t necessary but a shame if you don’t!) Det. Jack Stone, a relatively new homicide detective, is faced with a killer intent on claiming artist Olivia Hickman for himself. As the body count increases, Jack and Olivia’s feelings for each other heat up. With tragic losses in both of their pasts, watching the way they support one another while trying to solve the puzzle on exactly where the real threat is coming from is a real treat. Well done!
Wow just Wow!! Brilliant story that had absolutely everything I love to read about and more. This was about Olivia Hickman who rents out her loft but the tenants keep getting murdered, and the detective, Jack Stone who investigates the case. Well written, I enjoyed the plot and the list of suspects and how they go through them all. Jack had his issues as does Olivia and as things progress, they work on their issues separately and together. But one thing wins out, their attraction is overwhelming. A great book and if I could give it easy more stars that five I would. Highly recommend this book!!
Danielle M. Hass is becoming one of my favorite authors. Booked to Kill is another 5 star read!
Olivia is a widower who finds two renters of her loft dead and detective Jack Stone thinks she is the intended target. While he investigates the murder, he takes her out of the city where he thinks she will be safe, but will she be? They both have issues to work on and they not only work on them individually, but together as well. Will they acknowledge their feelings for one another? Will they be safe? Will the murderer be found?
What a read. From the moment that I started reading this, there was no putting it down until the last page was read. It moves along at a pace that makes for an easy and enjoyable read. The characters are amazing and you want to be there for them and the story will not disappoint, keeping you interested and reading till the last page is read. This book needs to be on you TR list, no doubt about it.
Wow Jack and Olivia’s story takes you on quite the wild ride. Olivia is a widowed artist with a serious stalker problem, Jack is the Detective trying to help her try and solve who her stalker could be. As the bodies and weird happening continue to pile up Jack and Olivia start to realize there is something beautiful starting to build between them . How they sort everything out to find their HEA makes a wonderful read.
Solid romance with steady pacing, hitting all the expected beats of the genre and offering a good mix of action and character development. Some fun + imaginative scene settings that contribute to character development (scenes/spaces as extensions or reflections of personality). Always here for love interests who act like a team and learn/grow through their interactions with each other -- and Olivia and Jack do. Good comfort read. Would read more from this author.
I mean, I've read worse. The hero's attitude in the beginning was beyond annoying (and did he and his partner ever do any task background checks? He should have known just how much money the heroine had, and that Mason had a brother...) and the villain and their motive (if you can call it that) were ridiculously cartoonish. But, as I said, I have read worse.
Too many getting killed while Liv is aready dealing with grief. Jack is captivated from first look but needs to keep in check. Their attraction is felt & their awkwardness is sweet. A page turner that keeps you guessing while rooting for love!
I loved this new book! It was such a great read that had a mystery to be solved with an HEA! Olivia seemed to be plagued with bad luck but it was even more than that but she had no idea what was coming her way. Detective Jack Stone is trying to protect Olivia and solve the case but he’s not sure he’s reading the situation correctly; can he trust his instincts? Great page turner.
This story hooked me quick. Intrigue, suspense, danger and action as Olivia and Jack try to unravel the mystery of murders and a stalker before it's too late, as well as overcome their doubts to find their HEA with each other.
A year on Olivia Hickman is still grieving her husband’s death. To supplement her low income she rents out the loft they lived in. However, a murdered guest makes her start rethinking her options Detective Jack Stone is assigned to investigate the murder. He can’t quite figure Olivia out, though he’s fast beginning to believe she’s the target. He’s just hoping his judgement is correct, and he won’t lose someone else he’s starting to care for. Working together these two hope to solve the murders. And, if they can stay ahead of the killer they just might get a HEA. This book held my attention from the start. It has plenty going on, and a lot of is it this person or that to keep you guessing.
