Lemegeton, also known as The Lesser Key of Solomon the King or Clavicula Salomonis Regis, is a 17th century demonology Grimoire written by an anonymous author. It contains names of spirits/demons, other sacred names, sigils/seals, invocations and summoning techniques, spells, prayers, rituals and occult knowledge that has been obtained by the author, material which dates between the early 15th and the late 17th century. The Grimoire is divided in five parts called The Books. These are: Ars Goetia (or Goetia), Ars Theurgia Goetia (or Theurgia), Ars Paulina, Ars Almadel and Ars Notoria.
Books can be attributed to "Anonymous" for several reasons:
* They are officially published under that name * They are traditional stories not attributed to a specific author * They are religious texts not generally attributed to a specific author
Books whose authorship is merely uncertain should be attributed to Unknown.
I was curious about the concepts of "demonology" or the book of Solomon and decided to go down the path of checking out these books. The content is dry and is more an informational piece on different rituals, concepts, and seals. Reads like a holy book with the way rituals and depictions are phrased, using old testament language. This version has many illustrations of sigils, seals, and other symbols (don't expect to see depiction of demons). The 5 books that comes in this set talk only of demons, their hierarchy, rituals, seals, and verbiage to use; Do not expect information on a specific religion or philosophical view.
All in all, there really wasn't much content here for the research purpose I had intended for, but it can be a great source of information if you are into the occult.
The Lemegeton, also known as "The Lesser Key of Solomon" is a collection of conjuration of and abjuration of demons, angels, and spirits as written by Solomon the Wise (also known as King Solomon) - The books is filled with incantations, charms, rites, and rituals meant to summon and bind or to ward and protect against supernatural entities. Sometimes hard to read given the language translations from all of the elder tongues (Greek, Latin, Hebrew, etc.) but still a great bit of knowledge and legerdemain for the modern practitioner or student of the arts.
To steal a joke from my favorite vtuber, this is basically a D&D stat and lore book, but for demonology. It can be difficult to read because it’s simply information with no real context. It’s still an interesting read, at least.
