She thought she'd found her place among the fae... but was it all a lie?
Just when I thought I'd overcome the biggest obstacles my fae mates and I could face, I find myself in the hands of their greatest enemies. Enemies who have far more power than we ever imagined.
Enemies who hold so much more sway over my life than I want to believe.
I have to escape, and not just to warn the men I love and defend the home I've made with them. The longer I remain, the more these villains can use me to destroy everything I care about.
If I fail now, the entire faerie world will crumble. I don't know if I can do it alone—but where will I find a friend among the cruelest of the fae?
*Bound to the Fae is a fantasy romance series featuring possessive shifters, dangerous fae politics, and a wounded heroine coming into her own. This 1050-page set contains with the final three books in the series—Lies of Murk, Chained Soul, and Heart of the Mists—as well as two exclusive bonus scenes and a new 50-page bonus epilogue.*
Eva Chase lives in Canada with her family. She loves stories both swoony and supernatural, and strong women and the men who appreciate them. You can visit her online at www.evachase.com.
I finished this series and have come to two conclusions: Talia (the MC) and Laoni are the two most annoying characters ever, and Corwin needed to bond with Kara. Laoni doesn’t undergo any character development, stays her stubborn argumentative self throughout the whole series, is unaffected by a childhood friend’s death, and doesn’t demonstrate many leadership qualities. Talia always gets her way, is irrationally selfless, except for when she wants 5 men to herself and they are all miraculously ok with that. By the end of the last book, I really wanted Corwin to break off his fake soul twined bond with Talia and reconnect with his true soul twined Unseelie mate. It’s totally not fair that Talia gets everything she wants, even her mates indulge her when she wants to tag along with them to fight battles. And by luck she never needs to defend herself or get hurt from the attacks.
Also the smut isn’t worth the bad plot.

I enjoyed the last book a ton but I was disappointed with Corwin’s discovery of a soul twined mate and the loss of Talia’s pregnancy. I also felt Madoc was such a random addition and wasn’t necessary to add in with her other mates. I don’t see the chemistry. Seemed like a lot of tragic filler to keep people engaged but ended up losing my interest at 65 percent in. This book could have been heaps better.

This series was way way way way longer than it needed to be. Skipping chapters didn't help moving along with the story. I felt like I was punishing myself by committing to finish the series. There was too much that wasn't necessary in these books.
The temporary cure for the winter curse is a joke.
I give the overall storyline a 4. I was interested in everything outside of the love story lol. I promise I'm not a hater but 5, FIVE males to 1 female???? I get they are Fae but idk. It was a little excessive to me. One thing I did love was all the talk about the food 😂 it's described so well, wish I could have one of August's pastries! I do have the hardbacks because they are beautiful books, but I ended up listening to the audio just because it's easier with a 5 month old. I didn't mind the narrators at all.

This series was different from what I usually read but they completely immersed me into this fae realm. I loved Talia's growth! I adored the respect & shared love in this book. These books made me laugh, cry, and cringe. I didn't want them to end. Looking forward to reading more by this author!
4.5 stars. Loved this book! I think it was a pretty good ending. Wrapped up fast but that’s not a bad thing I guess.
The one thing I didn’t like though was that there was no confirmation on if Talia is immortal or not!!
She developed a true name mark and said she feels more than human but we still don’t know if she gets to be with her mates forever.
She’s like 22 so she’ll have like maybe 30 years before she’s wrinkly and old while her mates are still young. And that’s virtually no time to the Fae.
I get that it’s a very stereotypical trope to have the human turn Fae but it’s also a pretty necessary one when relationships are involved. But whatever lol
Edit: based on other reviews, I guess a lot of people think she did become immortal-ish when the true name showed up but idk it wasn’t plainly written out so I don’t know. I’m just going to pretend she’s Fae now

Lies of Murk Well, well, well. It appears the Murk rats have a lot more going on than either the Seelie or Unseelie fae are aware of.
Talia has been kidnapped and made a prisoner by the Murk rats. Orion, their self-professed king, is as evil as any of the other fae she has ever met. Violence and cruelty are used to keep his followers in line. He has convinced them, not unreasonably, that they deserve to live in the Mists. All well and good except he wants to annihilate the Seelie and Unseelie, leaving only the Murk rats as occupants. Talia is desperate to contact her mates not only to rescue her but to fill them in on what she has learned. Her soul-twining with Corwin has vanished and using Whitt’s true name causes excruciating pain.
One of the horrifying truths Talia learns is that Orion is who created the curses and who gave her the ability to temporarily erase their effects. He is also the mastermind who insured she was captured by the Seelie fae as a young girl.
Is Talia going to add another stud to her stable? Tails still tend to squick me out but I’ve read some books where they have interesting capabilities. (And that’s all I’m going to say about that)
Chained Soul Guess who’s preggers?
Madoc arrives in the Seelie realm attempting to find a less violent solution for the Murk rats who want to return to the Mists. He also brings news that Orion has set off another spell which will cause Talia intense suffering and eventual death. Orion plans to attack while they are distracted by this.
It seems like Madoc no sooner reveals Talia’s curse than it strikes and gets progressively worse. He even suspects that he may have been the trigger.
Madoc and Talia’s mates attempt everything they can think of to ease her suffering and end the curse. They even plan to meet with Delta, a Murk rat who hates Orion, who may have magic strong enough to cure her. The meeting does not go well and Madoc is blamed.
Madoc is finally apprised of what will cure Talia and makes the ultimate sacrifice. Talia won’t take this lying down.
Heart of the Mists Talia’s survival has caused Orion to declare war and she and her men head off to battle. Another attempt is made to engage Delta and her followers to join their side.
5/18/24 dnf - I think I got bored by reading the final six volumes back to back. The story’s not bad and the characters have stayed on point. I am curious about Corwin’s supposed soul-twined fae and how that’s going to shake out. I just need to read something different and then come back to this in a day or two.
5/20/24 I’m back.
Kara - Too bad, so sad. Sucks to be you. Seriously, wouldn’t the soul-twin diminish after a time since Corwin doesn’t acknowledge it and it hasn’t been consummated? It seems that some fae spend their lives never finding their soul-twin. Or is the fact that it was triggered on her part make it a permanent torment in her life? I kind of see her point that it was Murk magic that bonded Talia and Corwin and that Kara may have a more valid claim (much as I hate to admit it) OTOH, why doesn’t the Heart fix her?
I believe it’s this book that says Sylas' eye had been injured by a Murk attacking him with magic. I may be wrong but I thought an earlier book said he’d foolishly taken on several at one time and a Murk’s claws caused the injury.
The war with Orion gains momentum and the seasonal fae are hard pressed and losing ground. Orion steps up using his curse to smite the seasonal fae. Talia comes up with a plan that they ultimately use despite her mates’ misgivings.
Nothing is simple and many situations are addressed. How the Seelie faced the first full moon after believing the curse had ended would have been a nice touch.
After the final chapter there’s a sample from the book The Stalking Dead. I’ve already read that series but am glad that I decided to read this part again because following is where the bonus chapter Celebrations of the Heart can be found.
Is Talia no longer human? That question isn’t answered. Will she ever have a child by Corwin? I’m still disgusted that they can’t fix her foot.
This boxed set, like the two previous, could have been condensed and made for better reading. There were so many recaps prompted by an event disguised as a memory or feeling or reflection and it just got to be too much! I skipped so many paragraphs and sometimes pages because it was someone’s inner monologue recapping a past event in order to make a current decision. I can’t even really say recap because it would basically tell everything all over again.
Then there was the inner monologue that went on for ages in the midst of an actionable event, like going to save someone or getting important information to someone. You would think they were acting when the trigger to “do” came, only to read several paragraphs of thoughts to find out they haven’t taken one step to do the thing that requires urgency.
Then there’s the soul bond between Corwin and Talia. It was built up so many times that if one of them had a strong emotion when the wall was up, it would bleed through. It was also said they could see through each others eyes if they opened up the bond completely. Then in this set, Talia panics and gets kidnapped and he doesn’t feel it, at a party where there shouldn’t have been a wall up at all. Talia is confronted by Kara, Corwin doesn’t see or feel it. And in this set, they are more open with the bond than the were before they confirmed it. So how could it be that strong to do all those things before the confirmation and then after, nothing.
No consideration was brought back about the Sage, Nuldar. We don’t know what happened to Orion’s body. We don’t know what happened with the Murk who fled through the portals. I’m still trying to find out why she didn’t get her foot fixed in the human world. If they were moving from dvd’s to streaming, surely they could have broken her foot and shaved the bone and reset it. The fae could have healed it the rest of the way. Speaking of bone, Aerik’s affinity was to bone and his keep was made of it… so why wouldn’t he be able to fix her foot under close supervision? Who was the third Murk Archlord? Why, in ten years, has Jamie never visited the Mists? What happened to him talking about a weekend visit? Why hasn’t he taken his wife?
So many questions left at the end. The author tried to cover everything but I guess those things either weren’t important or, she wasn’t expecting to do a time jump of ten years but wanted to give them some kids so she had to make the time jump appropriate. 🤷🏽♀️
Going to see what else Eva Chase has to offer. See my notes, highlights and commentary on Goodreads. Happy reading!
I read each of these books as an advanced reader. My reviews are voluntary.
Lies of Murk
Talia can't catch a break. Just as she finally gets to publicly claim her three summer fae men, with the full approval of her winter fae soul-twined mate, she gets snatched by the Murk and taken from the Mists back to the human world. There, she finally learns exactly where she came from and she is left reeling from the knowledge. With her mate-bond to Corwin suppressed, she has only a tenuous connection to Whitt through his true name to call upon. Unfortunately, she is too far away to get more than a broken, disjointed message through before the pain in her head forces her to break off the communication. She has one Murk male that at least treats her like a person. She doesn't trust Madoc, but she doesn't think he will abuse her like the Murk king does. Though King Orion sometimes treats her like a pet, he is a cruel, twisted male who is set on destroying the summer and winter fae and taking over the Mists. She has to escape and get back to her men to warn them, but how? With only her bronze bracelet and her knowledge of a few true names, she has her work cut out for her.
Chained Soul
Wow! Lots of things happening in this one. Be sure you have read all the preceeding books in the series so you are caught up on what's what. I am not going to spoil this one for you so I will just say there is plenty of drama, love, and sacrifice. A new curse will appear and a new ally. Enjoy.
Heart of the Mists
I must say that after eight books (this being the ninth) I am still sad to say goodbye to Talia and the fae. I am not going to ruin this book for you, I will just say that all questions will be answered, all loose ends will be tied up. The seasonal fae are at war with the Murk and things are never going to be the same when this war is over, but will things be better or worse for Talia and those she loves?
At first, I struggled a bit going through the 7th book. I thought we were spending a lot of time on Talia kidnapped by the Murks and wanted things to move on. It's only when I read the 8th and 9th books that I understood the importance of this kidnapping.
I had really high hopes for this last three books, and it met my expectations.
There is only 1 thing that bothers me ; I wanted Talia to become fae. When she destroyed the fake heart and was absorbed by the Heart of the Mists, I was so sure she would come back as fae. I was waiting for the moment someone would point out she had pointed ears. But it never happened. Is she still fully human because true names are showing on her skin? Will she live longer than a normal human?
Also, I feel like Madoc is not as well incorporated to the relationship as the others. It's true that the guys have evolved to having non hostile feelings toward him, but do they feel as comfortable around him as they are with each others, I don't know for sure.
The bond between Corwin and the girl (I think her name is Kara) pissed me off. I understand that it was relevant for the plot, but it kinda breaks something. Talia's bond with Corwin is less pure to my eyes.
However, those are some details and this series is definitely the best one I read in 2023
I think I started this series in June, and it feels bittersweet to end it. I spend so much time reading it, and now it comes to an end. It has been a journey, a very good one. I'm glad I know the end of the story, and Talia has an happy ending but knowing I won't get to read about these characters anymore pinches a bit my heart
The reverse harem concept isn’t my favorite. But I enjoyed Eva Chases The Dragon Shifter mates. In that series there was purpose in the heroine having four mates. The theme flowed. I liked the first 6 books of this series well enough. But honestly introducing a fifth mate is just overkill. There wasn’t a reason for Tahlia to love Madoc. Maybe he could have fallen in love with her over the years he spied on her. But he kidnapped her from her mating ceremony. She spends a short period of time with him and suddenly she loves him and wants to bring him into her bed and the lives of her mates. I can’t imagine any woman wanting to have sex with someone the day after she miscarries her child. The author introducing this fifth lover diminished the story.
Also, Kara could have had an interesting twist. Corwin could have recognized his fated soul twined mate and mated with a woman who would have possibly waned to be faithful to him. A woman who could have provided him with true blood fae children. Then Tali could have lived happily ever after with the three brothers who she first loved. The fifth lover introduction was my tipping point. The story went from entertaining to ridiculous. I can’t imagine a woman alive even in a fantasy who wants to go to bed with five men. It grossed me out. Talia doesn’t even have enough orifices to accommodate her five lovers! Do not bother reading books 7-9. It isn’t worth the time or money.
I am so sad this long journey is over. 9 books is a long time with these characters and some new ones. I’m really gonna miss them.
I am sad that we didn’t get a full scene of the reunion with family. I really wanted to know what they would think about the fae and where the hell she’s been all these years.
This is just me being greedy because the story did end beautifully. But I wish I could have been able to see how the parenting dynamic went between the mates. It took a while for everyone to bond with each other. I would eat that stuff up!
STOP 🛑 SPOILERS - - - -
Also we didn’t get to what the true name tattoo means for taila. Is she fae now? Will she get to live a long life like any other fae?
I’m also sad my favorite fae man Corwin didn’t get a raven baby even if he’s with not having one. But that also leaves unanswered questions. What is he gonna do now that he can’t have a heir? Since she’s not true blooded…wouldn’t that mess up the royal politic system? I was excited to find out but ole well i guess. I also expected the other winter fae lords to ask not only that question but the whole fake bond thing. That subject was completely avoided…which is surprising because they fought so hard against Taila. I mean I didn’t expect them to fight too hard but I expected at least and argument. 🤷🏽♀️ I guess the summer arc lord has the same problem.
All in all, I loved this series. It did throw me off that she found mate in every realm and ended up with 5 in the end but I still loved the story! I loved the romance, the trepidation, the insane plot twists, and the ending was very well written. The vocabulary in this book definitely made me want to improve my own. I did wish there wasn’t so many scenes of her wanting to kill herself but with her trauma and her connection to the people I can see the means for the thoughts. I also like the fact that we didn’t know who Ivys father was out of the wolves and that mason was Madocs; I feel like most books similar to this always to to have every single person have their own kid but she only had the 2 in 10 years and talked about a future possibly with Corwin. I think Corwin was my favorite out of all her mates along with Madoc. I absolutely loved the scene where he bowed to her forgiveness over the mind wiping thing, his sense of music, his shyness, sense of family, and his family connection with his mother. I loved the whole fated mates thing. Was an extremely long series though but I enjoyed it very much. She went from being held captive and tormented multiple times with a weak scared mindset to falling in love and growing in this insane world of magic. THERE WAS SO MUCH RACISM/Prejudism in this series which made the ending beautiful!

Book 7 in the series. It picks up where book 6 ends. Wow what can I say , Eva again knocked this out of the ball park . The heroine Talia is kidnapped by the murk. The murk know what they are doing, they know that Talia is the cure for both the winter and summer Fae sickness. Both the Fae worlds need to learn to get along become strong and get Talia back She means to much to both worlds . Do they rescue her .
Book 8 in the series. Eva Chase outdid herself once again. This tale has everything, romance, suspense, mystery, Betrayal and conflict between the 2 realms . I know Talia is suffering very much. Grab it and see what the Murk king did to her before she was let go .
Book 9 Wow so sad to see this series end . Book 9 and the end of Talia story . Eva Chase knows how to write heart gripping, attention writing stories. . Eva story’s have everything you want , mystery, suspense, strong characters plus very well detailed stories.
The performance of Ryan West and Savanna Peachwood is fantastic. They will bring you right into the story. . It will seem your right into the Fae world
TITLE: Rats of Murk GENRE: Paranormal Romance AUTHOR: Eva Chase TROPE: PNR, Why Choose TYPE: Series (Bound to the Fae Books 7-9) POV: Multiple POV MY RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5
This boxed set includes Lies of the Murk, Chained Soul and Heart of the Mists. Rats of Murk is the last of the boxed sets in the series and concludes the story of Talia and her men. The storyline had building tensions from the previous books, but at times it moved a bit slower as the tale unwinds. I enjoyed the Rats of Murk and the Bound to the Fae series. I loved how Sylas, August, Whitt and Corwin were always so accepting of Talia and trusting in their relationship with her. The twists and turns in the storyline led me away from where I thought the story might go, keeping me, as the reader, on my toes. The balance of spicy scenes with the storyline was also the right amount. I highly recommend the audiobook for this series, which is also available in the boxed sets. I feel like the story wrapped up in a way where I also have enough closure. I will be checking out more paranormal romances by Eva Chase in the future. I am giving a rating of 4 / 5 Stars.
We're back with another case of Talia being kidnapped, honestly it's getting a little old at this point. Yet another male to join the Talia Simp Club. However, I'm happy to report the "middle book syndrome" from book 6 is gone. The pacing is up again and we finally got some actual plot going on. Hurray! Not gonna lie, the second book was pretty heavy. Especially with the which I already had spoiled for me by reading the content warning in the synopsis. Then there's the I didn't expect these books to get quite so dark. My main issue with these final books is the main villain who's revealed is just so... one-sided. He's cruel for the sake of being cruel. That's it. That's his whole personality. It's too bad because these books have great pacing, good tension, enough emotional twists and a grand finale at the end. I'm glad to see the books improved after the utter disappointment I experienced with book 6. It was worth continuing this series all the way to the end.
"I stole you when you weren't even a day old... Then when I'd worked my magic, I swapped you back. You already held the kernel... I planted it in your grandmother, urged it on in your mother- these things take time to fully bloom, you know.'
Imagine your life has changed so quickly. Finally feeling like you have a hold of who you are, where you stand in the world and proud to have grown so much. Surrounded by love and being cherished for everything you are, not just what you have done. Now it is going to be publicly shown for the entire realm to see. Until the rug is pulled out from beneath you once more and you find yourself in the belly of the beast and a whole new hell feels like it is being unleashed.
I have enjoyed Talia's journey, her growth, her resilience, her strength, her vulnerability and her love. To watch her get pulled back to the beginning of her story was so hard, but it was nice for her to get the answers she had been so desperate for for so long was beautiful. I really enjoyed the wrap up of this long journey.
I’ve held off writing a review for the previous books for no other reason than wanting to immediately start the next book.
The world building was really strong and has given a detailed and visceral sense of the mists. She has cleverly woven modern cultural references from the human world into a fae environment. I felt like I was part of the world and Talias journey.
At times in the latter sections of the book I found I was getting frustrated with yet another problem that needed solving (I just felt constantly tense as I was so absorbed into talias inner thoughts). However I would say that’s probably a sign of good character writing and development as I was so engaged with their drama it was like it was my own.
I really enjoyed the epilogue and found it rounded off the series well
Talia is back and so is the action, danger, surprises, upsets and a bit of kidnapping thrown in to add to all the fun her life has been lately. Instead of having fun with her men this time around she is kidnapped and has to stay alive and figure a wait to escape. Lots of fun times and Talia showing what a girl can do. Just a good story that kept me glued to the end to see how and what Talia must face this time. Entertaining with some heat and surprises. Just a steamy fun entertaining story with twists and turns, danger, adventure, and unknowns. New and old characters pop in and add to the fun. Hard to put down.
There’s another man now, he’s a rat lol. Some good enemies to lovers action. There‘s some pregnancy tropes in this one which I don’t love. This trilogy was a little slower for me, I felt myself struggling to get through certain parts. I kinda thought the main character would have gotten a lot stronger by this point but she’s still kinda useless? Like she started learning magic in the earlier books which I thought was really cool but they kinda just stopped? & for most of the time she’s sick & bedridden with a curse. The ending was satisfying enough though so not a total loss.
It’s okay we finally got a change of scenery as our female protagonist was kidnapped in the end of the last book by the rat shifters.
We got answers as to where her abilities ti temporary cure the curses came from.
Their king is a sick man who seems to love pain no matter whose it is. The rat shifters have had a hard time and you feel for some of them. Yet like any of the other fae there are both good and bad. One rat shifter who came to see her way helps her in the end but we will definitely see him again.
I’ve blazed through reading all the books in this series in the past week. The writing is great, characters memorable and the world building fantastic. I loved every moment of reading this series. Truth be told, I’d been a bit hesitant to read it because I thought it may be a little too angsty or dark for me to read as the author’s Villains series was but I adored this series and know that I will think about it for a long time afterward.
As much as I liked the addition of Maddox into the group I just couldn’t deal with the stress of Corwin having another possible mate. I honestly skimmed the last 1/4 of the book just to find out what happened with that situation. I really expected the heart to make her into a human-fae instead of a shifter at the end. Instead I’m kinda just left guessing to what she is now with no real answer other than her aging has slowed and she has the true name tattoos like other fae.
I’m really happy I’ve finished this series. This third box set was mostly about the rats and the war. In the end, Talia not only becomes a hero but she also gets her happily ever after: all five men. My favorite were the wolves. The love for them seemed more genuine and not selfish. I would’ve liked to see Twila’s children be from August. But it was still a beautiful paranormal romance. I enjoyed it.
I loved these books from start to finish. The entire journey of book 1 through book 9 was an amazing journey. The story held my attention and kept me so intrigued. The plot was epic throughout every book. The character growth was absolutely fantastic. This is my first book series by this author, and I was not disappointed. The stories weave a clear image with beautiful descriptions. The ending was perfect. Loved every second of this series.
Overall the story is good, a little flip floppy sometimes and the racism between the fae factions and the fae snd the humans is exhausting. The romance is beautiful though and well written and the world complex. I do think that each trilogy could have simply been a duet removing three books from the series in total. It became difficult as the story dragged on to stick with it. Otherwise i did like it and the spice was decent.
Didn't so much read this as skimmed through it to get the high notes of the plot, just to see how it played out. And it was disappointing. Bring in the 5th guy Madoc? So overkill. I was already bummed that she got a soul-twined bond that was essentially pointless. I mean, that is like the ULTIMATE of relationship bond closeness, but she feels exactly the same for Corwin as she does the other FOUR guys. Ridiculous.
