Loved it

Well Lex Faulkener has done it again. Another action packed ride for Andrew and Fiona. From a Roman leader to a possible nuclear war the author has delivered a page turning roller coaster story with twists and turns through out. These are all stand alone books however I do think they should be read in order personally. The amount of research that he puts into these books are amazing and help to complete the adventure.

Excellent read slightly different to the previous books that it does not have very much of a historical story. The story seems that it could be quite literally happen in the future, which makes for a frightening thought.

I like to alternate my reading between non-fiction serious and brain candy. Lex Faulkner’s books are currently my favourite of the latter. I’m now up to book 5. They are all a combination of archeological and historical adventure combined with terrorist plot thriller. Great stories and a good combination of history, politics, and special ops action thriller. My only criticism would be that some of the historical background monologues from the archeologist character ‘Fiona’ are a bit long winded, which I don’t mind especially as they are mostly accurate, but it might deter some. Otherwise thoroughly reccomended for a distracting read.

A great story, but with some unrealism

I thoroughly enjoyed the story, but there were points where the author either resorted to prolonged lecturing or misunderstood some military/technical matters. You can't shut down or switch off a nuclear reactor. You can minimise the chain reaction and reduce temperatures, but it is quite a lengthy, slow procedure. I am a submariner with 25 years Royal Navy experience, including nuclear powered submarines.

Explosive

Another blockbuster adventure from Lex Faulkner.

Nuclear war to cleanse the planet paving the way for a new civilisation with a megalomaniacal dictator at its head.

Andrew, Fiona and the special ops team race against time to stop a doomsday conspiracy from destroying the world.

Very believable scenario, pacey and fascinating submarine knowledge
