A Christmas Celebration
When Paige turns up unannounced at Wynthorpe Hall, she discovers the place she knew when she was growing up has changed beyond all recognition. She’s only planning to stay for a short time, but is quickly pulled into local life.
One night while driving home after delivering library books and shopping to residents she stumbles across an isolated cottage and meets Albert, its elderly and rather grumpy owner. She quickly realises there’s more to Albert than meets the eye and the same can be said for the other man she can’t seem to help running into, handsome but brooding Brodie.
All three of them have a secret and a desire to hide away from the world, but with Christmas on the horizon, is that really the best way to celebrate the season?

*Secrets & Celebrations*
This is book #9 of 9 of the standalone books based in Wynbridge. It is definitely worth reading in order to avoid some spoilers.
On this occasion Iol, I completely missed book #8 which I will read
Wynthorpe Hall seems to be a place that collects people that have a past that they are wanting to keep hidden. Each one says they will be only staying temporarily but it never works out how they think it will.
On this occasion at Wynthorpe Hall Aid Worker Paige turns up at the hall without warning. She also happens to be the God daughter of the owners Angus and Catherine. She is tight-lipped as to why she has returned to the U.K. from Jordan.
She turns up in the nick of time as some of the team are away. And with Christmas looming they need all hands on deck. One of the jobs she takes on is volunteering which includes dropping off books, groceries etc for the vulnerable and those in need.
One day after getting lost she knocks on the door of a rather grumpy man as she asks for directions. She makes it her business to go back to see how she can help him. She also knocks into Brodie a rather offish Mr Darcy type character. She becomes drawn to him despite how infuriating he is.
We see Paige’s journey with these two characters, they each have secrets, will they find any common ground? There are the usual assumptions, the magic of Wynthorpe Hall with Angus the larger than life character always up to something. There is fun, laughter and wonderful surprises right at the end.

It wouldn't be Christmas without a trip to Wynthorpe Hall easily one of the most festive places in fiction. I absolutely adored catching up with the Connelly clan, seeing what ideas Angus may have to make Christmas even better than the previous amazing years, and to meet some wonderful new characters too.
I also loved every single second of this lovely heart warming book, that I just couldn't get enough of. I love this author so much and she always writes such marvellous stories, that I have to keep coming back for more and more.
I especially loved getting to know Albert, and seeing him come out of his shell, as Paige gets to know him. I enjoyed Paige getting to know Brodie too, and discovering just what makes both of these men tick.
And Paige on Anna's delivery rounds to the community, is enough to bring a smile to your face, and also gets us to meet another rather interesting character.
I could picture so much of this so vividly, due to Heidi Swains wonderful descriptions and felt as though I was at the Hall, alongside the characters.
It's just a gloriously warm and wonderful festive story that I heartily recommend.

Back to Wynthorpe Hall and Wynbridge, catching up with everyone and meeting Paige. There is something very special about Heidi’s books, especially her Christmas books. I love how the characters from her previous books pop up. Wynbridge and the Hall sound like the perfect place to live with such an amazing community spirit. When can we move there?!

I generally enjoy a little bit of Christmas schmultz but I struggled with this one and definitely didn’t feel it had Heidi’s usual panache. I nearly had to dnf during the first half as it is very repetitive & waffly & the plot seemed to consist of vegetable deliveries and not a lot else 😬. My other buddy-readers felt the same and one did abandon it altogether which I totally understood. Thankfully, the unfurling of Albert’s character & his circumstances (albeit way too easily resolved) helped and the second half was more readable. Definitely not my favourite Christmas read. 2.5*
(Also- the main characters all seem to be named after Virgin River characters which was amusing/irritating/all of the above).

It took me sometime to decide how to rate this book and I'm truthfully sorry to have to say it wasn't for me or, at least, it wasn't for me in this particular time of my life. Unfortunately, I'm very cynical of lately, and this book, though easy to read and heartwarming, was a little bit too on the "saccharine" side for my liking. I'm particularly sorry because I've read other books by the same author and loved them.
I truly loved Albert though, reminded me of my lovely Grandad!

A perfect seasonal read - You really can't go wrong with a Heidi Swain book!
It was lovely to be back at Winthorpe Hall and to meet Paige. The friendship she strikes up with Albert wass my favourite part and to read how she encouraged him to embrace life again and find joy everyday - that made my heart happy.

Absolutely loved this read! Another great Christmas book by Heidi. Such a nice, easy and Christmasy read to get you in the festive mood 🎅.

Goodreads informs me this is Heidi's 9th book set in Wynbridge (which astonished me, how time flies!), I'm happy to confirm it was just as engaging and enjoyable as the preceding 8!
This book focuses on Paige, a thoroughly likeable character, who returns to her godparents home at Wynthorpe Hall to assist in the run up to Christmas - making friends along the way of course. I adored Albert and the relationship Paige had with him, it reminded me of a similar relationship from A Taste of Home (one of my fave Heidi reads!).
I didn't find the story overly festive, but that's not a bad thing, and it's the perfect book to read leading up to the festive season snuggled under a blanket with a hot chocolate (and snacks) whilst the evenings are dark.
A big part of my enjoyment was just how many previous characters we came across, even just snippets, and it's made me want to re-read some earlier books now. I found it very clever how Heidi manages to give them a small role, we visited the Cherry Tree Cafe and the vets (Will from Coming Home to Cuckoo Cottage) for example. However in saying that, this can be read as a standalone.
Overall, I highly recommend!

Another Christmas offer from Heidi Swain! Another story set at Wynthorpe Hall! What's not to like, I thought!
Sadly, there were tons of things that I didn't like. I couldn't befriend this book from the very beginning. There was not a plot, not an idea behind this story, it focused so much on the background characters that the main characters felt very, very flat and underdeveloped. And if we are by the characters, well, half of the time I really didn't know who is who, there were so many of them, and I really couldn't care less about them in the end. Also the names felt almost the same. Albert, Angus, Catherine, Katharine, I really couln't tell one character from the other.
The plot couldn't keep my interest. I tried, I really tried hard, but it was so superficial, simple, predictable and sooo saccharine, everything run smoothly and if it didn't, it still felt schmaltzy. I know this is what I can expect from this author, but this time even I couldn't take anymore. I actually skim - read this book, reading a sentence here, a sentence there, without a feeling that I am missing something.
Altogether, too unrealistic, too simplistic, without a good idea behind the story. Sadly. I was hoping for another brilliant festive read from this author. Luckily, I am in minority and tons of the author's fans adore this book.

It was so lovely to be back at Wynthorpe Hall with Heidi Swain. A Christmas Celebration felt like a total treat in book form. I do think, however, that Heidi Swain’s books should come with a warning. I’ve read so many that I ought to be used to it by now, but I swear I put on half a stone just reading her glorious descriptions of food. She has the ability to make me ravenous as I read.
There’s a smashing plot in A Christmas Celebration with all the Heidi Swain hallmarks I’ve come to expect, including a warm and uplifting sense of community, a fizzing romance and a totally engaging and entertaining story that transports the reader away from the cares of the real world for a while.
I love the way in which Heidi Swain blends romantic fiction with just a touch of mystery – in why Paige has left Jordan – and illustrates that the most wonderful sense of self worth and satisfaction in life can be achieved not through material riches, but through being kind and helping others. A Christmas Celebration is the most gorgeous antidote to the depressing negativity that pervades much of the real world. It leaves the reader feeling as if they’ve found real human connection again.
Alongside Paige who is a convincing amalgam of strength and vulnerability, and the attractive, enigmatic Brodie, the character who is most wonderful is Albert Price. He lends the story such a depth, reality and genuine morality that is utterly convincing. What I found most affecting was the way Heidi Swain explored how we so often have to live within the bounds set by others and how difficult it is to be true to ourselves. A Christmas Celebration might be a light, festive read, but that doesn’t mean it lacks emotion, gravitas and profound themes.
If you want your own festive joy, you really need Heidi Swain’s A Christmas Celebration. It is pure Christmas essence in book form and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Since discovering Heidi Swain it has become a tradition for me to read her latest Christmas book in December. For me her books are everything that Christmas should be and get me in the mood for the festive season.
The Wynbridge series is probably my favourite of Heidi Swain’s with Wynthorpe Hall being the highlight for me. I love the entire family and the ethos that surrounds them. From loveable Angus and his crazy antics to Molly and her sight seeing ways, this family have so much to offer the community of Wynbridge.
I loved Paige and how seamlessly she settled into life at the hall. She arrived at just the right time and certainly wasn’t afraid to muck in and keep herself busy. The mystery surrounding her departure from her overseas job was very intriguing and having something new to focus on clearly helped but she obviously had some unresolved issues and trauma to deal with. This part of the story was dealt with such sensitivity and gave a much needed issue some spotlight.
Heidi Swain always delivers with the swoon worthy male and this was no exception. Brodie was the leading man we all wanted and I loved the slow burn romance between him and Paige, things certainly got hot and sweaty at points and I loved seeing the magic spark between them.
Now I couldn’t end this review without a shoutout to my favourite character which is Albert. He absolutely melted my heart and reminded me so much of my nan with his independent ways. He was the gem of the story and it gave me feelings of pure joy to see how his story progressed.
The only downside to reading this one now is that I have to wait another year for a Christmas story from Heidi. Thankfully we have a new standalone book to look forward to before that because a whole year without Heidi is not something any fan wants.

A pleasant Christmas time read. Stand alone or part of a series, certainly references to characters from other books by this author. Perhaps not one of her best as the message of not dwelling on a mistake becomes a bit laboured at times as does the inevitable romance. Hence only 3 stars.

This was my first ever Christmas book and I can’t wait to read more this month! It was incredibly easy to read and get through. At the beginning it was giving major Hallmark film energy but once you get past that it’s just such a warm and lovely book. There are a lot of characters to get to know which sets you up for the other stand alone books that are based in the same town. I was obsessed with Paige’s friendship with Albert as I really resonated with it. I feel like the romance within the book isn’t a major part of the story and for me the friendships she made along the way meant more to me. I would still recommend this book as it’s just a nice way to get into the Christmas spirit.

Christmassy reads are always books I pick up not expecting too much. They’re usually just easy romance reads that get me into the festive spirit. However this book was so much more than a cheesy Christmas read. Yes, it definitely gave me Hallmark movie vibes but I think that’s a good thing.
Despite having the underlying romance elements within this book, it wasn’t its only focus which I enjoyed. There were lots of likeable characters with interesting relationships / friendships and I especially loved the dynamic between Paige (the main character) and an isolated elderly man called Albert. Seeing Albert come out of his shell throughout the book due to the support of Paige and his local community was so heartwarming. Also, I loved the description of the small town setting and it definitely made me feel festive.
Overall a perfect festive read for those looking for more topics covered than just a straightforward romance.

A feelgood, heartwarming read with an entertaining set of characters in the beautiful setting of Wynbridge. After a devastating experience when working as an aid worker in Jordan, all Paige wants to do is hide away and lick her wounds this Christmas, but instead she is talked into heading for Wynthorpe Hall to help with the Christmas preparations. She soon finds herself busily helping out in the community, helping a cantankerous old man and trying not to fall for a handsome but grumpy Brodie, who are themselves dealing with their secrets. I quickly found myself engrossed in this lovely story.

A Heidi Swain Christnas novel set at Wynthorpe Hall again? Yes please! I was so excited to get stuck into this book and see my old friends from Wynthorpe hall once again. I cannot tell you how wonderful it felt to read those first few pages. It was as wonderful and festive as always and the book lets you catch up with these characters just enough that you get some satisfaction from it but not so much that it detracts from the main storyline. We also get some nuggets of information about those other characters that leave me with some questions that I really hope will be picked up again in future books because I need my answers!
Fear not, if you have never read a book set at Wynthorpe hall before, or indeed a Heidi Swain novel before, you do not need to have to enjoy this book. This book works whether you are new to this author and her world or if you are a die-hard fan of this location like I am, there is quite literally something in here for everyone. I will also say that if you are worried that this novel will be too festive or too much about Christmas, please don’t worry. There are festive elements here and people are gearing up, as always, for the winter solstice as well but this book is about family and community and finding help in the most unlikely of places.

She is a bit broke and there is a certain element of mystery surrounding the fact that she has returned from her role in Jordan earlier than expected. Paige definitely needs some family and some rescuing and she will find that in ways she never imagined. Then we have Albert, a mystery himself, what is his back story and why is he living in the state that he is living in. I loved meeting both these new people and they slot into this world so perfectly, I can’t wait to hear more from them in the future.
In terms of the romance in this book, it definitely wasn’t as hot and heavy as last year's festive offering but I enjoyed the slow burn and then the friendship and family elements of love that are explored in this novel. Everything feels warm and cozy and you are just so behind every relationship whether that is romantic or not. I definitely feel ready to open my advent calendar now and I feel sure that this book will leave you with a warm and slightly festive feeling too!

Everything feels warm and cozy and you are just so behind every relationship whether that is romantic or not. I always love a book by Heidi Swain, so I was excited to read this Christmas release. And I wasnt disappointed.
Back to Wynthorpe Hall and this time in the run up to Christmas, Paige has had a stressful time working abroad and returns home. When her parents ask her to go and stay with her godparents, Angus and Catherine at the Hall, Paige doesnt know what to expect or what she is going to do there to pass the time but goes along with it anyway. Paige soon finds herself drawn into the life of the village and its residents.
I really loved meeting Albert and watching the develping friendship with paige. We get to learn about his past and how far he has now come.
And not to forget newcomer to the village Brodie, who keeps popping up in and around the village wherever Paige seems to be.
Will there be some romance for Paige this Christmas or will she decide to stay alone and enjoy the festive period with friends!.
Heidi Swain, once again delivers a great festive read leaving you feeling all snuggly with a blanket and worth reading with a mug of hot chocolate. Great characters as always and it makes you feel right at home. The beautiful descriptions throughout and the surroundings of the story leave you wanting more. Cant wait for more from Heidi Swain.

This book reeled me in with such an intriguing start. What was the huge mistake which Paige had made when working for a aid charity in Jordan? Her new friend Molly says that the universe ensures people are where they are meant to be exactly when they are meant to be there and although Paige didn’t expect to be in Wynbridge it seems that Molly was right, both for Paige and for some others.
Although she thought she had wanted a quiet Christmas alone to gather her thoughts after her unexpected return from Jordan, Paige is soon off to Wynthorpe Hall where she’s warmly welcomed by the residents. And that’s what Heidi’s books often feel like to me. I feel that as a reader I’m being welcomed back into a community I know so well. It was lovely to see mentions of The Cherry Tree Cafe, Skylark Farm and Wynter’s Trees to name but a few, as well as glimpses of the lives of characters from previous books.
Paige is one of life’s good people. She has a strong sense of justice and fairness and wants to do what she can to help others. So it’s not surprising she agreed to help with the volunteering at Wynthorpe. Even though it wasn’t in a war torn region, her work was just as important in its own way. I thought the idea of prescription and food deliveries around the neighbourhood was just brilliant. That was one of the few good things to come out of the pandemic – people being more aware and looking out for their neighbours. There’s a real sense of this community looking out for everyone.
People following their passions is so important in this book and I’m not just talking about love. Two different characters were made very miserable when parental disapproval meant they couldn’t follow the path to do something they loved. Both found their lives transformed when they finally were able to follow their dreams.
With secrets, community spirit, friendship and of course romance, A Christmas Celebration is an ideal book to help you get in the festive mood and to celebrate Christmas. Get yourself a mince-pie and some mulled wine and a copy of this heart-warming read.

But reading this one as a standalone was never a real problem – it’s very much Paige’s story, and I soon felt the same warm embrace that she did at the heart of the Connelly clan. And the warmth of the story was what I really loved – so many of the characters have their own problems and challenges, many dwarfing her own, and the magic of the festive season makes everything look a little brighter. I loved her relationship with Albert and the way it transformed both their lives – and the twists and turns of her tentative attachment to Brodie were so well handled, a smouldering romance between two damaged people that I really believed in. And on the Christmassiness scale, it’s just perfectly judged – plenty of lights and sparkle, but a stronger focus on love and kindness and the elements that really matter.
Yes, I really loved this one – and I’ll happily declare myself a fan of Heidi Swain’s lovely writing, excellent characterisation and wonderful storytelling, and will look forward to reading more. Highly recommended by me.

A Christmas Celebration is my first Heidi Swain book and I'm asking myself why as her books seem right up my street. Certainly, this book was an absolute joy to read and it got me right into the festive spirit.
Paige has been working as an aid worker in Jordan but due to one or two unexpected developments she finds herself back in the UK and a suggestion from her parents leads to her turning up at Wynthorpe Hall, the home of her godparents. Being pulled into the heart of the Connelly family is just what she needs as she embarks on a new stage of her life. She steps into the breach to help local residents with their shopping, library books, and to provide simply a bit of company, and in doing so meets Albert, a man who has become very isolated. Add to the mix Paige's growing feelings for Brodie, who is also new in town, and I found myself reading a totally uplifting and heartwarming story.
This book provides the perfect blend of a gorgeous, cosy Christmassy read without being twee. The characters were lovely to get to know and there's a strong community spirit with everybody mucking in to help others. I now wish I could visit the town of Wynbridge and have a hot drink in the Cherry Tree Café and a wander through the Winter Wonderland at the hall. Although it's my first book by this author, I recognised some names from the blurbs of other books and can't wait now to read about those characters too. I love the way there's a thread running through all the Wynbridge novels but each can be read as a standalone.

I really enjoyed being back at Wynthorpe Hall, and having another wonderful Christmas time. It was lovely to meet everyone again!
I liked the different backgrounds this time, with a main character just returned from volunteering in a refugee camp. Though even more of a draw for me was Albert, the older gentleman who is way too proud to admit he's struggling. He felt so real to me and i wish I could go visit him. He's definitely my very favourite character in the book!
Yes, things are going way easier and smoothly than they could go, yes the end is very predictable. Does this hurt the story? In my eyes no. Not at all.
While I prefer my Christmas books to have some deeper topics and problems, I still want the book to be mainly hopeful. To be full of friendship and support and a bit of Christmas magic.
The romance is more a side dish than the main course in this installment, which I thought fit the story well.

Another amazing book by the author set in wynbridge mainly around the hall. Paige arrived back to stay with her godfather Angus. Whilst out helping other residents she stumbles across an abandoned cottage and meets Albert its elderly and grumpy owner. She also has Brodie who is handsome and broody.
For me Albert got my heart. Loved reading him come out of his shell. Wynbridge hall has a special place for me and all the characters there are so great. Really enjoyed this book.

A Christmas Celebration by Heidi Swain is a brilliant festive read that you can cosy up with a blanket and a hot chocolate on a cold afternoon.
It is a beautifully written Christmas romance with brilliant characters and story line that will give you all the festive feels and put you in the mood for the Christmas season.
I definitely recommend this book and would read more by the author.

Thank you Simon & Schuster UK and Netgalley for this copy of a Christmas book. I liked the story and it was intersting to read about. Maybe I would love more if I knew the previous characters. Or maybe it was in my mind after seeing is a series. Anyway lovely and lovely cover.
