Saving a cat shifter and his son was NOT part of the plan.

Zander, along with his six year old son, ran away from his litter. One wrong turn leads him into the arms of his true mate, someone from a completely different world.

Ronny doesn’t understand the feelings welling up inside of him. He’s used to getting answers from behind the screen of his computer, but this time, he’ll need to learn to trust his gut.

With Zander’s past breathing down his neck, will the walls around his heart always be in place? Or will Ronny’s eagerness to be the best mate possible be enough to have them come crumbling down?

Hunting for Love is book two of A Collection of Hunters and while it can be read as a standalone, it is better enjoyed as part of the series. This story is filled with acceptance, found family, adorable cat shifters, true mates, mpreg, and of course, a happily ever after.

Toby Wise is a stay at home parent who hails from a tiny town in Wisconsin. Contrary to popular Wisconsin stereotypes, he’s not a cheese-head who enjoys beer but rather an introvert who spends all his time on the internet, drinking coffee, spending time with his kid, and cooing about his adorable cat, Pikachu.

In April of 2019, A Collection of Strays was born after the world of fanfiction drew him back into his love of writing. Now he’s writing all things omegaverse as long as it includes silly moments and found family.

I’ve said this before about Toby’s books, but his books are just easy. They aren’t messy, they’re sweet, sexy, fun, found family, and just a dash of drama to round out books that just make me happy.

This one in particular is just so dang cute. I love how Zander and Ronny meet. I love the dynamic with JJ. This is fated mates so while I wouldn’t call it insta love, it is insta bond. Which I love as long as it’s done well and it is done well here. We get to revisit our previous couple and find out a little bit more about the supernatural world they live in. It’s just fun and easy and entertaining. A breath of fresh air in this dramatically over saturated genre. Can’t wait for more.

How can you not just love this series? It’s sweet, it’s adorable and it has babies.

Zander has run from his litter with his son, JJ. The littler alpha, John, is a POS and Zander knows he has to get his son away from him. He meets Ronny and instantly knows that Ronny is his fated mate. Ronny was so adorable. He was earnest and eager to be a mate when he found out. I loved how he took care of Zander and JJ. No questions asked and all the protection offered. There are some spicy little tidbits that fit well with the story and weren’t gratuitous at all. I also absolutely loved the way John was “taken care of.” It was in such a Ronny way.

These books are so sweet and always leave a smile on my face. I’m really enjoying this series and it’s evolving to be one of my favorites.

Ronny was an absolute sweetheart and he was perfect for Zander. These two were beautiful together yet it was their unconditional love for little JJ than completely stole my heart.

Fantastic book and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hunting for Redemption, #1: Rating: 5/5

Hunting for Love, #2: Rating: 5/5

A tiny part of my chest longs for something like that, a love so firm it transcends all understanding. But being a human means that’s probably not something I’ll ever experience. - Ronny

Main Character Information:
Ronny: Human, Hunter
Zander: Omega Cat Shifter

Stuff I Want To Mention:
Even thought he could not sense the bond being human, I still feel Ronny knew it in his soul. Do you know how freaked I would be to see a kitten I saved turn into a little boy? I give Ronny props for not panicking, or at least, panicking internally. After dealing with John, Ronny was the mate Zander needed and deserved. It was sweet and I loved the addition of JJ. I love how he fit in immediately and loved playing with Lily.

Hunting for Acceptance, #3: Rating: 4/5

Hunting for Magic, #4: Rating: 1/5

It can be safely assumed all of my reviews are from books that are 1st Person, have a HEA, and have no intimate or spicy scenes with anyone/thing other than MC(s). I try to rate books objectively if they have something I don’t typically like (i.e. Break Ups, SA, 3rd Person, Single POV, Sharing Partners). If it’s still written well the author deserves the praise but I will make note to avoid for myself in the future. I do my best to mark different triggers/warnings as well as the intimate acts performed in case anything listed/done might not be something you would want to read. If M/M, Age Play, Interspecies, Insta Love, Erotica, MPreg, or Incest are something you actively avoid, you are probably better off avoiding most of the books I review.

DNF: Something off, couldn’t finish because of it.
1 Star: No, thanks. Something super wrong.
2 Stars: Oh that was something but it was not something for me.
3 Stars: Decent, some things didn’t sit or read right but it was worth the effort.
4 Stars: Really enjoyed it, might read again even.
5 Stars: Super duper enjoyed, written well and read well.

Another great story. You cant be disappoint by this author!!

Contains: hunter, cat/human, heat, mpreg, fate companions.

I love how sweet this author's books are. They always give us sweet, angst-free and totally adorable stories. Their characters are always catchy, we fall into their life, into their friendship, it's their chosen family, where even the strays has access to love and happiness.

The only thing I would have liked to have more is more detailed events about their mystery to solve, they are hunters after all.

*May contains spoilers**

In this book, we meet a cat and her kitten who run away from their "ex-alpha". By pure Fate, they find themselves on the path of their fate mate, a human! A human who does not know that the cats in his possession are shifters. How will he react when he discovers the truth? Will he understand what Fate has to offer them? Will he be able to accept them and become a family?

Haaaaa, Can't wait for the next one. Cooper & Martin and a third??? Eeeee, yeah.

And And I'm on a curiosity overdose for Carlos. I can't wait to see what he's hiding from his past and why he's hiding it. Cant wait for this one neither. No pressure for the author, but seriously I'm dying of curiosity.

Hunting For Love by Toby Wise is the second book in the Collection Of Hunters series. It's just as good as the first if not a little better than the first.

In this book we get to see Ronny meet his fated mate Zander. I really enjoy shifter books and for almost half the book it's about Zander being his shifter counterpart which I absolutely loved. While Zander's a cat Robby has been talking to him, letting Zander get to know Robby better until Zander can shift back into a human. Once he can shift back though that's when the heat starts... Quite literally!

I adore the characters Toby Wise creates, they are all so adorable and interesting in their own way. I'm looking forward to reading Martin and Cooper's story, but the character I really want to know about is Carlos... What type of shifter is he? A wolf? Some type of dog..? I need to know!

I think this was a great continuation of a very promising series. I'm eagerly awaiting the next book.

I recommend this to anyone who loves cats and kittens, found family, fated mates, Rv life, mysteries to solve and you can't forget the vampires!
This is a quick read, I finished it in about an hour.

*I received an early copy of this book and this is my honest review.*

This was a really sweet story of two soulmates who luckily find each other under very unlikely circumstances. Zander has escaped from an abusive relationship with just his son and nothing else. To make getting caught more difficult, they travel in their shifted forms of cats. After being injured they are luckily rescued by Ronny, a human who doesn’t know exactly what he’s come across. He just has an underlying need to help these two helpless animals. An unexpected transformation by Zander’s son show’s Ronny what he’s really dealing with. I actually enjoyed the fact that Zander had to say in shifted form longer in the beginning as it showed more how soulmates are just drawn to each other instinctively rather than by looks or other means. I also liked the fact how even though it was during a short timeframe in the actual story, it didn’t feel like they rushed into their relationship. My only critique would be I would have liked a scene where they actually confronted Zander’s ex directly. Can’t wait for the next installment in the series as I really enjoy all of the characters and seeing where life takes them.

This is a great low angst, fated mates story.
One of my favourite things about Toby's series' is the found family. This book, more than the first, has the group spending time together and getting to know Zander and JJ. Ronny and Zander fit together so well, regardless of Ronny being human and Zander a car shifter. Ronny is so lovely, just wanting to do everything he can to make Zander and JJ safe and happy, and Zander is able to finally relax and enjoy being around people he knows love and care for him and his son.
It's great getting more time with all of the group while their on the road for a case. They're fun to be around, looking out for each other, personally and professionally, whilst also working hard on whatever case they have at the time. I'm really interested to see how the next book turns out with who is hinted at it involving.
A really great short story for those who enjoy fated mates with a very little angst, easy reading with enjoyable characters.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

Hunting for Love, the 2nd book in the Collection of Hunters series is an angst-free, easy read.

Ronny, a human hunter, rescues a injured cat and its kitten. He doesn't understand why he feels the need to keep and protect these cats.
Running from a bad situation, Zander steps in a trap and is injured. To get loose, he shifts into his cat, but while travelling as cats, Zander and his son are rescued by a human. Zander immediately recognises the human has his true mate.
Ronny thinks that he has rescued a pair of cats, and what follows is cute one-way conversations Ronny has with the adorable, tactile feline.

Hunting for Love is a cute read. This book is the definition of meet-cute. I loved Ronny's protectiveness not only towards Zander, but JJ (the son) as well.
There was no miscommunication and no angst, which made for a pleasant, refreshing read.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the Hunters finding their HEAs.

"Hunting for Love" received TWO AND A HALF stars.

I liked the beginning and half of the middle, but the last portion of the book was too sappy-sweet for me.

The novel gained *stars* for these items:

* gained for: "The book caught my interest in the first five pages."

1/2 * gained for: "I thought about the book when I was forced to set it down and re-enter society."

* gained for: "There were no info dumps, poor writing, or copy edit mistakes that jerked me out of the story."

The novel failed to gain stars for this item:

NO STAR gained for: "I was sad when the book ended. I wanted more!"

NO STAR gained for: "That's it. I'm hooked on this author. I will automatically try anything she/he/they writes."

A sweet and fun fated mates story

Toby Wise is great for sweet, low angst, heartwarming stories and this is more evidence of that fact. Ronny and Zander were lovely together. I really liked that Ronny gave Zander the sense of belonging he so needed with sweet possessiveness; so often dated mates are almost aggressive in their possessiveness and whilst that can work, a sweeter softer version is lovely to see also. Zander needed to feel wanted and loved in a gentler way and Ronny was perfect for him in that way. Ronny was a total sweetheart - he might not be a natural fighter (being more the tech guy) but he still protects those he cares about in the way he best knows how. JJ was adorable (I giggle snorted when he picked his dad up). I’m hoping that maybe we’ll get to see his story in a spin-off down the road. I can’t wait for the next one!

This was a super sweet, little to no angst romance. Ronny was the absolute sweetest character. I loved how even though he was human, he only wanted to be there for Zander regardless of the circumstances in which they met. Ronny also accepted JJ without any hesitation. The fine details of JJ and Lily's relationship. He cares for her in such an honest childlike way, but with so much adult emotion that you can see it impacting the future of their lives.

Toby Wise has a funny, fluffy writing style that seems effortless. I can always rely on ending Toby's books with a sweet soft smile on my face. I am eagerly awaiting for the next book in the series.

What a sweet, easy, absolutely lovely read. We don't really get to see much hunting action here, but honestly, it wasn't needed. I loved Ronny and Zander's story and this found family that Toby is building. My favorite part was actually when Zander was still in his shifter form as I felt we truly got to know both MCs during that time and get a feel for how great they could be together. If you're looking for no angst, adorable shifters, and honestly just the best pile of fluff, this is definitely a book for you.

Hunting for Love is Book 2 in A Collection of Hunters series. I really enjoyed this sweet mpreg story. I liked the way Zander found his fated mate, though it wasn't under the best of circumstances. Zander and his son JJ were on the run in search of a better life. Ronny happened to find them and took them back with him to the others, his crew and found family. JJ is just the cutest. Zander and Ronny are so sweet together. I look forward to the next book as another member of the crew finds their mate. I recommend this book.

This was an adorable story. Ronny is sweet and geeky and the ways he takes care of JJ and Zander is, to use the word again, just adorable. Zander at one point thinks about how amazing it is how soft these hunters. He's right, they are just marshmallows when it comes to those they care about.
The hunt they were on this time was much more side story. This focused on the growing relationship of their found family.
I'm looking forward to Martin and Cooper's story.

Super sweet

This is just such a sweet story! I loved Rommy in this book and how even though he is human he is totally accepted by everyone around him and is so accepting of the supernatural world.

JJ is just the cutest kid and I just want to give him a hug! He’s so brave and strong. And Zander is so protective of him but also so cautious, it was great to see him open up to everyone.

This is just a super sweet low angst book and was just what I needed

Zander and his son JJ are running away from Zander’s ex John when he is caught in a trap. He and JJ escapes in his cat form and is rescued by Ronny, a human and Zander’s fated mate. Ronny feels the pull to be with Zander. I loved Zander and Ronny! They had great chemistry, sweet, and steamy. I loved the secondary characters and cannot wait for their stories. Overall, a great read! Well written with nice pacing that hooked me into the story.

Hunters and shifters and vampires... oh my!

What a great continuation of this series! It's filled with revelations, compassion, passion, true mates, and adorable kids. Ooh, and a unique wishing well with a surprise. Read the blurb. There is HEA, but this story continues in the next book. I can't wait! I recommend reading the first book. Time well spent. You are simply gonna love this book!

This book was such a breath of fresh air to read! A lot of authors feel the need to make communication a bigger obstacle than it needs to be, but this book was soooo amazing about communication. There was no angst and all the characters were easily likable! I love the first book but this one was even better. I hope this trend continues and the next book blows me away too! I’m new to this author but I’m definitely going to stick around now ❤️

The great thing about Toby Wise books is that you know you are in for something sweet.

This one was no different. Cute cat shifters on the run, desperately needing some help and Lady Fate steps in.

I loved how despite the bond they got to know each other first and Ronny waited for Zander to be ready.

There wasn't a lot of drama which makes this an easy, shorter read.

Ronny and Zander's book was Fantastic,  Toby Wise writes with their heart and soul. The love between these two is off the charts, then you add JJ into the mix. Oh be still my heart. The trust, love, and family feeling will have you head over heels with this book. I also loved how the whole pack was there for each other.

This book was just adorable. So cute and fluffy and super sweet. I adore Ronny he’s not oblivious as he’s a hunter who investigates wrong doings with his group. He’s just a little oblivious to the fact that Zander’s a shifter. As for Zander and his son just down right cute. Cat shifters for sweetness!

Overall I liked this new book in the series a lot. However I very much dislike the whole revenge thing on the ex. Ian’s firm believer the people are not only bad or only good and therefor it felt wrong what has been done to this person even if he did terrible things.
Besides that I very much liked it.

💜💜💜💜💜

This is a paranormal queer romance, the second book in a series that should be read in order. I’ve always wondered if a cat shifter could be mistaken for a pet and this book made me giggle with a “Yes!” And then they shift and you learn that you have a human as a true mate! What a fun story amongst the angst of the past.

Double the cuteness

I really loved Zander, and Ronny is absolutely loveable. It is so cute seeing the family growing. I am equal parts disappointed and relieved John didn't show back up. Ronny's revenge was absolutely better then just killing him. Ruining him like that? Gold. And probably more cathartic for Zander. Overall still loving this series!

Hunting For Love was a sweet and romantic story with mpreg and paranormal/shifters. I'm absolutely loving mpreg. I really enjoyed Zander and Ronny's love, fate-mated story. I'm just not a fan of the dual first person point of views. But I enjoyed the story.

Lovely as ever

The one thing I really love about this author is that the books are usually light hearted with a family feel. This story was no exception and left me looking forward to the next wondering if maybe it will be a MMM.

Another quick read by Toby Wise. Ronny and Zander are a cute couple. I would have loved more of a story (the mission). The guys are being mated one by one and I'm ready for the next one.
