What exactly do a guy who I’d swear was a cannibal, a grown man dressed like a banana, and the proudly self-proclaimed “Beat Your Meat Specialist” have in common? Spoiler they have all somehow managed to find me, despite my efforts to hide in a hole under my porch from this dating dumpster fire.
Just when you thought one woman’s savage search for a soulmate couldn’t possibly offer any more insanity, I bring you Confessions II. More dating mishaps and silly life scenarios, more off-the-wall girl chat, more naughty sexploits… but still the same number of suitable prospects. (That number was zero in case you’ve forgotten.)
*Includes Bonus Chapter & a Sneak Peek of my upcoming psychological crime thriller, Stolen Pieces!
*Mature Content, Sexual Situations, Strong Language
Soulmate Setbacks is more of the same hilarious storytelling of these no-good-not-even-close-to-being-potential-suitors. I was happy to have been entertained by a whole second book of over 200 pages of men’s fuckery. By no means is this a man-bashing book. It’s bittersweet to read about other men who seem thisclose to going somewhere, but the only place they go is into the abyss, like ghosts. It simply highlights the dead ends Mason keeps finding herself in, which you’d think the app filters would help to avoid. However, while also laughing with Mason, I feel disappointed and sad on her behalf because she has yet to be successful in “catching” a great man. Educated, homeowner, career woman—she’s a freaking catch! There is a fun story of her masterminding and executing a plan to catch a rogue chipmunk at the fertility clinic she’s visiting. It's one of the few wins in the book, and you can't help but to root for more.
Bring on another instalment! Having enjoyed the first in the series, I jumped into this one with high expectations. As I’ve become increasingly familiar with the writing style, culture and language, I now understand more about where the author’s coming from ... or not coming, except maybe on the porch. While I found a degree of empathy with the tales of woe, as a bloke, reading about some of these guys also made me feel rather better about myself ... everyone has their flaws, but some are certainly greater than others. Despite hoping (sincerely) that the author eventually finds her own ‘Mr Right’, I also hope it takes a few more books before she does so. This is a highly entertaining series.
Okay, who knew I’d enjoy this more than the first book? But I truly enjoyed this in-your-face tell-all. I would love to see this made into a scripted series on BET…Did you hear that BET?
The characters she meets are quite interesting but not all in a good way. Yet, the author’s inner monologue keeps the pace moving and your belly jumping with laughter.
But in all her misadventures with the opposite sex (and even the same sex—spoiler), I’ve never wanted anyone to find happiness more than this author. She truly deserves it.
Gemini seems like an interesting follow up to book three—yes, I said Book THREE!! But as long as it’s not Diego or any of these ghosting, deadbeats, I’ll be satisfied!
My hope is some awesome dude will read this, call up the author, and be the man of her dreams!
As much as my man be working my nerves, I definitely don’t want to jump back into the piss filled dating pool! All these chapters gave me flashbacks. What is wrong with these men??? Again, I enjoyed book two just as much as the first one. I especially love the humor. We gotta laugh to keep from crying… and punching someone in the throat. LOL. As much as I loved this book, I don’t want you to go thru more BS for us to have a book three… but if there is one, I’m reading it! I’m here for it!
Soulmate Setbacks was a brilliant follow up to the first book. It gives you more hilarious and true stories of her dating during the pandemic. Just when you think it can’t get any worse the next chapter happens. Don’t even get me started on chapter 19. You definitely don’t want to miss it! The details from the conversations she had with her friends had me dying. We all need a group of friends like that. Don’t hesitate and buy the Confessions Series.
This story would probably resonate with any Black woman in today's society. The difficulty women face when trying to find a good man is ridiculous. This was hilarious, depressing, and therapeutic all in one. I'm hoping the author finally meets Mr. Right one day.
Get the hazmat suits ready! Take the plunge back into the bacteria infested dating pool! If you thought book one was bad, just wait, there's more! I honestly don't know if it's just the narrators taste in men, or if what passes for men these days has just gotten so pathetic... I'm convinced these are the ones women talk about when they say "all men"! Just makes it that much harder for the rest of us to even get a chance anymore....
