Though lacking much authentic Welsh blood, Kim Lawrence comes from English-Irish stock. She was born and brought up in North Wales. She returned there when she married, and her sons were both born on Anglesey, an island off the coast. Though not isolated, Anglesey is a little off the beaten track, but lively Dublin, which Kim loves, is only a short ferry ride away. Today they live on the farm her husband was brought up on. Welsh is the first language of many people in this area and Kim's husband and sons are all bilingual she is having a lot of fun, not to mention a few headaches, trying to learn the language! She is a keen gardener and cook and enjoys running often on the beach, as living on an island the sea is never very far away. She is usually accompanied by her Jack Russell, Sprout don't ask, it's long story!
With small children, the unsocial hours of nursing didn't look attractive so encouraged by a husband who thinks she can do anything she sets her mind to, Kim tried her hand at writing. Always a keen Mills & Boon reader, it seemed natural for her to write a romance novel. In 1995, she published her first novels and now she can't imagine doing anything else.
Just re-read The Prince’s Forbidden Cinderella by Kim Lawrence and I’d forgotten how sweet and satisfying this romance truly is. It felt like a whole new experience!
The story opens with Marco, the Crown Prince, and through his inner thoughts we learn that he’s a widower with a five-year-old daughter. Marco carries a heavy burden of guilt over his late wife, who died during childbirth—a woman he was never in love with. This guilt fuels his emotional distance from his daughter, and honestly, this is where I wanted to shake him! While he clearly loves his daughter, he's an absent father, yet somehow finds plenty of time for his endless stream of short-term flings, which are anything but discreet and always splashed across the internet. He’s the classic “I don’t believe in love” hero (yawn 🥱), but thankfully, the story doesn’t leave him there for long.
Enter Kate—the new nanny. She's sweet, outspoken, and refreshingly unafraid to call Marco out on his neglect. From the moment they meet, there’s instant sexual tension, though Marco refuses to acknowledge it (at first). He’s clearly intrigued—and hooked—despite himself.
I really enjoyed the slow burn of their relationship. It was lovely to see them genuinely connect before anything physical happened. They don’t give in to their attraction until Chapter 9, which made their eventual intimacy feel all the more earned and meaningful.
In terms of romance "safety"—no OW/OM drama, and Marco hasn’t been with anyone for a while before Kate enters the picture. So if you’re particular about that, rest easy. This was a truly enjoyable, emotionally rewarding read, with a charming heroine and a hero who (thankfully) grows up in the best way.

This book is about the h taking the position of nanny to the H’s daughter, her mother had died in childbirth. The H felt guilty because he didn’t love his wife as a husband should, they were best friends. His wife loved him. The h had discovered she was adopted and was hurt and confused. She loved his daughter and made him see that his daughter needed him. They overcame their difficulties to find their HEA. Great epilogue.
The hero was disappointing with how he was so absent in his daughter's life for 5 years (even her birthdays), yet he made time to sleep with so many different women. Also was disappointing that he admitted that he would have had a mistress eventually in his first marriage if she hadn't died.
The heroine was great, I liked her connection to hero's daughter and how she changed her for the better. P.
