I really enjoyed this man turned monster inside (Jack Creature, LOL... who didn't think about Jack Reacher here?) preying upon other monsters. This time it is the legendary bogeyman. Small town setting, missing children, nice atmosphere and convincing showdown. Read like a part of a good TV show. Hope the author will come up with more novels on Jack Creature. Could be the start of a very good series. Uncanny, supernatural, plausible main character. Can highly recommend this pulp horror tale!

What would happen if Jack Reacher was experimented on by a secret government group and turned into something supernatural?

An intriguing story, and one I'd like to read more about. Jack is a military experiment gone rogue, hunting supernatural monsters. I've read others of Mr Markhams work, and this short story is a very good one. I need to know more about Mr Doe.

Huh. This is exactly a Jack Reacher book, but with paranormal stuff added in. It's short, and it's punchy, and I'd read another one.

There's not a lot of character depth (it's a Jack Reacher story, so ... duh?), there's no character growth, there's no real explanation for the paranormal stuff, but it's fun and easy to read, so what's not to like?

Has a lot of potential, and I'll definitely read more. I feel like the writer is going to need to put down a lot more words to flesh out the character. The protagonist is a drifter and a little lacking in passion. That might play out well across more pages, but in a short story you don't feel that gripped by the plot. I'd say 3.5 stars.

This is basically a Jack Reacher story...if Jack Reacher had been experimented on by a shady government team and released to hunt supernatural baddies. The first chapter even has him getting off a Greyhound bus in a random tiny town (sound familiar?). And his name...Jack Creature, come on...obvious.

I loved this tale! Creature is on the run and is doing his best to lay low. Unfortunately, he rolls into a town where some children have went missing and his nose gets the better of him. He needs to find out why and who is responsible, whether human or not.

It's very well written and is super similar in style to the Jack Reacher novels (wonder if Lee Child has seen this?). I would have liked this story to have been longer but there's plenty of scope for future books to fill in Creature's history, and even more spooky cases for him to crack. I really hope this continues into a long running series.
