Brooke Ramsey is a true crime fanatic, plot-twist lover, and author of twenty-one romantic suspense novels.
She wrote her debut novel in 2015 after walking away from a career in Nuclear Medicine. Instead of spending her days working in hospitals, Brooke spends them creating heart-racing and heart-warming stories that glorify God.
Christian Romantic Suspense is a new genre for Brooke, and she is loving the challenge of weaving well-developed characters into intricate plot twists in her cold case murder mystery series.
Her favorite compliment from readers: ‘I wasn’t going to read this because I don’t normally read Christian Romantic Suspense, but I’m so glad I did—I couldn’t put it down. What a page-turner!’
Brooke's Christian Romantic Suspense books are standalones with no cliffhangers.
I absolutely loved this book. I think this was my favorite of the 4. I really liked that the story was already ongoing when I started it. It allowed for more suspense throughout the story. I really liked that both Jackson and Anna were hard headed and focused. It just added more to the story. All the characters were very believable and I liked that the story was the main thing but still allowing some romance between Anna and Jackson. All in all, I would highly recommend!
This book is touted as a Christan romance, but I’ve never read one like it. Ms. Ramsey's character development and riveting suspense is dramatic and gripping at the same time. The Christian theme is minuscule compared to the action in this book.
Anna is out to avenge her missing sister, Olivia. She has sacrificed everything for the last three years to find her sister by infiltrating Diaz Smith’s circle and pretending to be his girlfriend. However, Jackson the head FBI agent of the narcotics team is about to break this case wide open and he wants to use her to bring down Diaz. Should she trust him or will he throw her under the bus?
Anna is a true badass. She’s extremely smart and focused, savvy with a gun, and she will not stop her mission to destroy Diaz until justice is served. She’s come this far alone, and she’ll finish this alone until Jackson with his self-confidence and faith in God convinces her to partner with him and defeat Diaz’s organization. Jackson also has a personal interest in this assignment because Diaz supplied drugs to his dead brother. He is professional, motivated, has good instincts, and believes he can trust Anna. She has had several opportunities to rat him out to Diaz, but she has kept quiet.
The attraction is subtle between these two as they focus their efforts on keeping alive and getting their target. As the action ramps up more secrets are revealed in Diaz’s operation, and Anna’s life is in jeopardy. It’s just a matter of time before she is exposed and Jackson’s promise to help her may not be in time. I loved the buildup to the finale which is very exciting.
If you love captivating characters and compelling action and adventure, give this book a try. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.
Thank you to Ms. Ramsey for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
Olivia is my first book by Brooke Ramsey! I love trying out new authors. I was intrigued by this romantic suspense read-a girl pretending for years to be a gangsters girlfriend in order to find her sister's body.
Anna is the shit. She fooled a majorly scary guy into thinking she loved him. He was a drug king and killer who had murdered her sister and she was still able to convince him she was in love. She was so determined to find her sister's body. Jackson is an FBI agent determined to bring the drug lord down. He decides to use Anna as his informant.
The story jumps right into the thick of it, which I appreciated. There is a "Christian" theme but it is super small. Jackson discusses his faith as a Christian. That is really the extent of it. I didn't realized this was considered Christian Romance until I went to goodreads to write my review. So, if you don't like any mentions of religion, skip this. If you are okay with a character being Christian and talking about it occasionally, you would be okay with this book. If you are looking for a Christian romance where Christianity is the many focus, this book isn't for you.
All the Christian talk aside, the story is interesting-FBI agent determined to bring down a drug lord, sister determined to find her sister's body, team up to achieve their goals and in the process, fall in love!
authors like Christy Barritt, Lynn Shannon, Colleen Coble...then you will probably like Olivia!

Pros • I like the storyline, the mystery and the suspense. • The christian content is appreciated.
Cons ❌ The book needs finessing - the story is *raw* rather than *polished*. In addition, inasmuch as it's fiction, it generally comes off as movie-ish i.e unbelievable fiction compared to realistic fiction.
❌ Unnecessary explanation - such as Diaz's men not realizing Jackson has back-up at the bar, the possibilities of how the Christmas family photo was captured, the history behind Anna and her love of supercars, the repetition of Anna's motive (revenge) throughout the book, the reason why the bartender remembered Jackson & his drink, the list goes on. It's all unnecessary and needs to be cut out because it's irrelevant.
❌ Use of foul language - God clearly states in the Bible that we're to avoid foul language. He doesn't give us examples of any foul language e.g s***t, h*ll, w**re, etc but we - through the Holy Spirit - know exactly what He means. The point? You can write about foul language without using examples e.g Frustrated, Anna shouted a slew of curse words at Diaz, etc etc.
❌ Non-Biblical doctrine - "But the more Jackson leaned into his faith, the more he realized God was never going to remove the challenges from someone’s life, but promised to walk through the challenges beside them."
• That's partly false doctrine because when you read your Bible from Genesis to Revelation, you'll realize God does both; starting with man's greatest challenge: sin. Which God helped us overcome through Jesus Christ His Son.
• In addition, poverty and sickness is not God's will. If it were - why would Jesus say that by His stripes we are healed? Why did Jesus heal all as it is written in the Bible? Why did God bless Abraham, Joseph, Isaac, Jacob, Solomon, David, etc with wealth? Why does God say Jesus took on our poverty that we might be rich (and the context in that particular chapter is not spiritual blessings e.g joy but literal wealth e.g money)?
• Lastly, it's also contradictory because the author proceeds to write about Jackson asking God for help such as wisdom to know what to do. Why ask God for help to solve challenges He's never going to remove?
❌ Immodesty and immature romance - the towel scene between Jackson & Anna is unnecessary. That was the author's inspiration rather than God's inspiration.
• The romance is not well developed. There's also the aspect of the Biblical instruction of not being unequally yoked to non-believers.
❌ Few grammatical errors - e.g the use of *impressive* rather than *impassive* to describe Jackson earlier in the book.
If you think your in for a romance with a bit of crime thriller thrown in for good measure, your wrong. This was the complete opposite, with maybe a slither of romance near the end. Anna has infiltrated a drug ring, the leader Diaz she knows is responsible for her sister Olivia, disappearance so she set her sights on him and has been his "girl friend" now for the last 3 years. Whilst she has no illusions that Olivia is alive, she is determined to find her body and bring down Diaz and the gang responsible. Jackson is the new boy in the FBI and he also has his sights on Diaz and the gang, he also has his own private reasons for wanting this gang brought down.
Anna and Jackson's first meeting comes whenb Jackson and his FBI agents do a raid on one of the gangs warehouses and Jackson finds himself with Anna holding a gun to his chest. Jackson quickly realises that Anna could be just the person her needs on the inside of the gang but persuading her to become his informant will take some work, he needs to prove to her she can trust him.
What follows is a riviting game of cat and mouse, with both Anna and Jackson walking a tight rope, one slip and one or both of them will be dead. Diaz knows he has a mole, which means he is highly suspicious of everyone in his gang, Anna included. As both Jackson and Anna navigate their way through, they both realise that this drug gang goes a lot deeper than either of them knew. Anna shows an incredible strength to do what she originally set out to do, no matter if she survives or not, whilst Jackson has to use every bit of training, instinct and calm rational thinking to both save Anna and bring down Diaz and his gang.
When I first read the blurb for this book, I was immediately intrigued. I was also a bit nervous as I wasn't certain how heavy of a christian fiction novel this was going to be. I've read christian fiction in the past, and there was a time in my life where that was my preference. My preferences have changed, but I still wanted to give this book a go. And I'm glad I did.
First off, the christianity portion of the story is very small, and it was more so just Jackson speaking (to self or to friends) about his faith. So if you see the religious aspect when mentioning this book, and that doesn't appeal to you, I ask that you still just give it a try. The suspense will keep your mind occupied.
Also, the romance aspect is extremely light. It is more like a start of a relationship. We witness that connection being established.
The storyline though? OH MY WORD! That was fantastic. Yes, things started a bit slow, but that base had to be built. We had to get a lay of the land so we could see things building. I loved the organized crime storyline, and going through the case with Jackson. Anna was fantastic in the role that she undertook, and she did what was needed to get her revenge.
Seeing everything ramp up, and then moving into the big scene, I could not put my kindle down. I HAD to know how this was going to be resolved. Oh and that little revelation that happened, yeah, my jaw dropped. I began questioning a few things.
Brooke Ramsey has written a wonderful book, and I fully enjoyed reading it.
When I first got this book, I had no idea it was a Christian romance, just missed that completely. To be honest, I probably would not have read it had I realized. There are certain keywords that are always a no from me, like wholesome and clean. But somehow that fact slipped by me and by the time I realized it, I was too invested in the story to care. There’s a lot of action and compelling characters so I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. The religious aspect is minimal, it’s mainly Jackson discussing his faith so it wasn’t a huge part of the story but it’s not a topic most characters ever mention so it was slightly distracting.
Nevertheless, I still enjoyed it very much. Anna is one seriously bad*ss babe. She went undercover to solve her sister’s murder and has been playing the part of dutiful girlfriend to a vicious drug kingpin for years. YEARS. Jackson’s a federal agent tasked with taking down the kingpin and when they meet, he witnesses Anna execute one of the bad guys. He’s immediately intrigued and wants to know what Anna is doing. They’re playing a dangerous game with their lives on the line but despite the risks, they’re distracted by one another. If you enjoy fast-paced suspense with minimal romance, you’ll love it.
Brooke Ramsey is a new author to me, and I am glad I took a shot at this book; it was a page-turner. Now I have other books to add to my TBR as I thoroughly enjoyed this Christian suspense novel. I have to say, having read a lot of Christian fiction in the past, this author integrated Jackson's faith into the story without overwhelming the reader or sounding preachy. It's just a part of his life (an important part), but it doesn't make him into a walking saint who never does wrong. He's a man walking day-to-day with his faith. He's an FBI agent on a mission to take down the drug trafficker who caused the death of his brother, and that is where he meets Anna. Anna is on a personal vigilante mission to take down the man who she knows had a hand in her sister's disappearance. She has managed to be accepted as the leader's girlfriend, and she feels she's getting closer to the truth. As twists and turns abound, new information is discovered. Betrayals, lies, and surprises surface. The tension is torqued up on high for this story as the leader begins suspecting Anna, and she has to outsmart him or die. Jackson tries to gain her trust, but Anna doesn't trust anyone. It all leads to a satisfying conclusion that lets you know you've read a really good book. I definitely will read more by this author.
Brooke Ramsey is a new to me author, and while I don't normally read clean type of books (I'm less sweet & more spice at the end of the day), the suspense was next level so I didn't even notice it that much to be honest, and I will be reading more of her books. Anna has been on the search to find her sister Olivia, who disappeared 1345 days ago, and she's under no illusion that her sister is still alive when the book kicks off, but she just wants to bury her sister & get revenge (a girl after my own heart). She's gone undercover on her own with the dangerous gang responsible as the leader, Diaz Smith's girlfriend, and the way she managed to keep on her toes the whole time was outstanding. Things started to unravel when Jackson (a new member on the FBI narcotics team) got involved, and he could definitely blow her cover. Jackson is actually a very good man, who just wants to put Diaz (bad man) away as he has a bit of skin in the game as well, and he's determined to get Anna on board to help him. I was on the edge of my seat cover to cover as things escalated quickly when Diaz got super paranoid as the twists were coming in hot so the race was on to put him away before he puts Anna in a barrel! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I only just realised this is the 4th book 🤣 but it works as a standalone so it's all good. This was a good fast paced read for me. I love a good crime thriller!
I got sent this ARC by @greyspromo and I read it in a night.
Meet Anna, who's sister Olivia disappeared 3 years ago and all she had to go on was a tiny note left in a vase at her mother's grave. Anna goes undercover in one of the biggest criminal organisations in her town determined to fins her sister ( or her body ) and lay her to rest. What she doesn't bank on is it taking 3 years and an FBI agent named Jackson coming along and putting a kink in her plan with his own revenge motives. It was a little frustrating in some parts because the gang leader Diaz is a paranoid knob tbh 🤣.
Jackson finds Olivias body and shows Anna he can be trusted and together they work to bring down the people responsible. Which they do. She finds closure and he gets the girl. There's not a massive amount of spice. Would definitely recommend 👌
On the edge of my seat! Although I felt like the book started and I was confused because of how it started abruptly, I quickly caught onto what was going on and I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what would happen between these characters. Anna is searching for her sister Olivia, hoping that she is still alive after going missing, and she figures that they only way to do this is to go undercover unofficially to get the truth from the people her sister dated and hung around before her disappearance. – Diaz Smith. Jackson is an FBI agent that has been recently assigned the case against Diaz, having a personal interest in it as he was the dealer that provided the drugs that his brother overdosed from. When Jackson figures out that Anna isn’t like Diaz and his group, but rather Olivia’s sister, he vows to help her get closure while she also helps him get the proof, he needs to take Diaz down. This book had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out everything and see if both of them make it out alive! This was my first book from Brooke, but won’t be my last! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I received this book as part of an ARC group in return for an honest review. Olivia is book #4 in Brooke Ramsay's Christian Cold Case suspense mystery. It is a stand alone Novel. I found "Olivia" a little slow to start but it didn't take me very long to be hooked on the story. Olivia is missing, 3 years in fact, most likely dead. Where is her body and why did she go missing. Her sister Anna is after revenge but only has a cryptic clue written on a note that was mostly left for Anna to find on her parents' grave. Anna is tough and secretive but she needs to be, to discover the truth, while pretending to be someone else entirely. Is she losing her true identity in the process or will she die herself before unlocking the truth about Olivia. Anna's life is not her own. She trusts no one except her cat. That is until she is tempted to trust Jackson, the FBI agent. Not even his fellow agents can be trusted and may even blow Anna's cover, which seems to be about to unravel at any moment....
New to me author and I really enjoyed this one. Brooke does an excellent job of building the suspense and keeps you wanting more. There are bits of religion and prayer sprinkled throughout so if that’s not your thing, be aware. It’s not overwhelming or center to the plot and I found it refreshing.
Jackson is new to the FBI task force working to take down the drug ring that killed his brother. While working the case, he gets close to the kingpin’s girlfriend, Anna, who may not be what she seems. Anna has been undercover and on her own since her sister Olivia went missing three years ago. She knows that Olivia got tangled up with the cartel but she hasn’t been able to figure out exactly what happened. With a vow to continue until she can put her sister to rest, Anna realizes that Jackson is going to be a problem…or just maybe, the two of them together are the solution.
This was an amazing read that I found so very hard to put down. It had so much suspense and drama it had me biting my nails a few times. My heart broke for Anna who is seeking to solve the mystery of her missing sister. She was such an incredibly strong woman who never wavered in her search and fight against the man responsible for her sister’s disappearance and her need for revenge. Jackson was an FBI agent who wanted to bring down the same man only for different reasons. The uncertainty in all their lives was a huge burden for them but ultimately Jackson and Anna were able to work together in their quest for justice. Loved the characters and the story line. A great book and series that I highly recommend.
I received an arc copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
A sister out for revenge and the FBI agent trying to turn her to his side? Yes and yes. It was exactly what made Olivia my first read from Brooke Ramsey. That being said, I found the start a touch slow but somewhere around thirty percent things started to really pick up.
I liked that both Anna and Jackson were so strong in their convictions. Working towards the same goal, just going about it in completely different ways. Anna infiltrates the organization to bring it down from the inside. Jackson going after them with everything the law allowed.
With criminals and double agents and a dash of faith thrown in, Anna and Jackson's romance kept me on my toes until the end. I do wish there had been more time with them actually together as a couple, but it was also refreshing to read something that was heavy on the characters as individuals.
Brooke Ramsey was a new-to-me author with this book, and I’m so glad I took a chance on her writing. Romantic suspense has always been my favorite genre, but so many times, Christian Romantic Suspense comes across as unrealistic or “preachy.” I thought she did a wonderful job blending real-world issues Christians face without being unrealistic about the struggles we all deal with. And the suspense was terrific, providing plenty of twists and turns and an ultimate one I didn’t quite see coming, which is always a plus to this reader. The pace wasn’t all action but ebbed and flowed as good suspense should until the climax. Then it had me reading and turning the pages as quickly as I could. It was a very entertaining and satisfying read, and I definitely look forward to reading more of her work.
Olivia Book 4 Cold Case Murder Mystery Series Brooke Ramsey Jackson a man mindful of his faith and duty. A police officer recruited to the FBI who is dedicated to cracking the case. Anna is trying to avenge her sister and will cross all boundaries in the process. An edge of your seat thriller/ suspense with a touch of romance and some deliberately Christian characters. Watch out for the dead bodies and all of the twisting plot points. This book is so hard to put down I absolutely loved it! This is my favourite in the series so far. I enjoyed how well developed the characters are and the tension built throughout the story. This book is part of the Cold Case Murder Mystery Series but can be read as a stand-alone novel with hea. I received an arc of this book. 5 stars
Olivia has been missing for a long time, and her older sister Anna has spent 3-years infiltrating Diaz Smith’s gang, as he is responsible for Olivia’s disappearance. Jackson in a newly recruited FBI agent, who is desperate to prove himself worthy of a high-risk mission, and when he finds himself on the wrong side of a gun, he recruits Anna to become his informant. Jackson and Anna are both focused on their task, never considering that love would become a factor in their lives. This is a well written story which is a slow build, with revenge, suspense, intrigue, romance, mystery, danger, and love, which leads to a riveting and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Olivia Book 4 in the Cold Case Murder Mystery Series Brooke Ramsey Jackson is trying to bring down a drug dealer and runs smack dab into Anna who is trying to find her missing sister by working undercover. She is sure Diaz killed her and she is trying to find out what happened to her and where her body is. Thus, they keep running into each other and begin to work together. Plenty of action packed suspense and surprises for these characters who grab your attention from the very beginning to the surprise ending. I received an ARC for an honest review. I am now going to go back and read books 1, 2, and 3 in the series.
Olivia is a suspense romance novel. It’s my first book by Brooke Ramsey. Anna has infiltrated in the gang of Diaz for the last three years. She has been searching for her sister ever since, but has not found her yet. Jackson, a new FBI agent, is part of the raid happening at Diaz’s warehouse. His plan for her to be his informant starts that night, but she doesn’t give in easily. She doesn’t want to blow her cover. Eventually, she learns they have to work together to survive this.
This book got me hooked from the beginning. Normally I don’t read a lot of suspense books, but I really liked it. The story really gets to you. Every time the chapter ends, you just want to know what is going to happen next. It keeps you on the edge of your seat.
This was the first story from the author that I have read and I have gotta say I was impressed with the story at first sure but then I realized that I liked how the story progressed and was really great too. Anna risks her mission for revenge/vengeance when she meets Jackson, an FBI agent with high beliefs in the power of God and his belief that they both will be able to complete their missions without risking the other's life. There is a romance element but if you were expecting erotica this might not be for you.
Wow Absolutely loved it. Anna infiltrates Diaz’s criminal organisation to find out what happened to her sister Olivia, Anna’s lies and perfect acting lead her to become Diaz’s girlfriend. Anna has been in the organisation for three years already and that is where we pick up the story. A raid on Diaz,s warehouse changes everything for Anna. That’s where she first meets Agent Jackson and the three years of her infiltration could come crashing down. Anna is strong, calculating and cold in her search for revenge. Fast paced with a lot of action.recommended.
Wow once again Brooke you deliver an amazing fast paced story. Once you start this book you won’t be able to put it down. This is book 4 in the series and it hits the ground running from the first page. The story is involved and entertaining whilst keeping you on the edge of your seat I loved the characters and the plot. The Christian message is always there but never in your face so you get immersed and involved with these people as if they were your own friends. Wonderful story and I can’t wait for the next book you write. Awesome book and series.
My FAVORITE book in the series. We meet Jackson in LANA and I was hopping for his book. Jackson is now undercover with the FBI trying to bring down a drug lord. Anna has gone undercover to try to find out what happened to her sister who went missing 3 years ago. When these to meet the sparks fly instantly. This book will keep you turning page after page as the story unfolds in a fast paced race to the end. I would love for Jackson and Anna to have more stories in the future!!
This is the first book I've read from this author but I really enjoyed the suspense and storyline. Anna is trying to find justice for her sister Olivia. She has gone undercover, on her own and with no training, to try to get information that will take Olivia's killer off the street. In the meantime, Jackson has joined the FBI and put on a team looking to put away Diaz Smith and his gang of drug dealers. When Anna and Jackson's paths cross, she has to decide whether she can trust him. The suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat, especially as it gets closer to the ending.
This is the question we can't answer. As always, Brooke Ramsey pulls you in the moment you open the first page. Anna is searching for her missing sister and has gone to extreme and dangerous measures to find her. Can she trust the handsome FBI agent that has said he will help her? Page after page, we get closer to answers as Anna and Jackson try to trust their instincts and each other. Just be sure you have nothing else to do as you start this Christian Romantic Suspense from Brooke Ramsey because you can't put it down.
Once again an amazing fast paced suspense read with both FBI agent Jackson & Anna who is looking for revenge for the presumed killing of her sister Olivia who has been missing for 1,345 days. A Very focused & interwoven story that has you reevaluating throughout what you think is true. Well done, a fantastic read & once again shows that a Christian romantic suspense story doesn’t have to be dogmatic but Brooke writes as a very realistic person of faith.
I really enjoyed this book. It has a bit of everything that you would expect. Jackson and Anna’s story is one of determination to find answers… for Anna it was getting answers as to how her sister Olivia died and for what reason and wanting revenge to. Jackson is the undercover FBI agent who lost his brother to drugs supplied by the people whom murdered Olivia and he too wanted to bring an end to their drug business.
Suspense Thriller Romance wrapped in morals- what’s not to love?! Anna and Jackson are incredibly strong characters. Anna is loyal and strong, living in a very tense setting, yet she manages to maintain her fun friendly spirit through it all. Jackson’s morality and strength of character, persistence and intelligence help him stick with her and become her hero. This was a fun page turner- I couldn’t put it down!
This is the first book from this author that I've read. It's book 4 in the Cold Case Murder Mystery Series, but can be read as a standalone.
This book was different from what I typically read, but it was a refreshing change of pace. It's a fast paced thriller that is steeped in suspense and action. It is loaded with unexpected twists and surprises throughout that will keep you on the edge of your seat from the beginning until the very end.
