The end of the world began on a Tuesday morning. The day started out like every other day with Diana getting ready to go to work, but Earth had different plans.
First, it let out the magic.
Then, it destroyed humanity’s ability to make electricity. Diana rescues Sam, a man who suddenly can Shift into animal form, and they cling to each other as the world falls apart.
Can Diana fight the attraction she feels for Sam? Will Sam learn to control the magic thrust upon him? How will they solve the problem of there being only one bed?
The scenes where Sam is a squirrel made me snort laugh. The mating was pretty quick, but in a way I can readily accept both for shifter romance reasons and the intensity of the circumstances. I’m intrigued to see where this series will go in a longer format!
I was lucky to be a Beta reader on this delightful short story and just reread the published version. This is urban fantasy/eco crisis romance. The earth is fed up with our nonsense and decides to take action. This story has two delightful protagonists and some fun steam. I look forward to the first full novel of this exciting new series!!
This story was interesting. I was confused yet fascinated by the whole concept of The Shift. It was a quick read, too. Good characters, good writing, and some steaminess that made me blush more than I'd like to admit.
I love Evelyne so much, thank you for putting this out! I love this story, I love the idea of where it can go, and I can't wait to read the next one. This sets up such a fantastic world that I can't wait to read more of. Genuine a strong start/prequel to a series. It has some quirks and I'd love in like 2 years for Evelyne to come back, flesh this bad boy out, truly add more depth to the characters and have a good time fluffing it out because the only flaw is this prequel is too short. I wanted more in the moment interactions, more dialogue even while sam's a squirrel. I just genuinely wanted more which is always a fabulous sign. Absolutely would recommend for a super swift read and fun smut. 10/10 Recommend.
