This is the 9 th. Book in Mariah Stone series, Highlanders Claim starts with Doctor Jennifer Foster and her friends are on vacation in Scotland to celebrate together, the year is 2022. While on a boat ride the boat breaks down and Jennifer and her friends are taken to a small Island to wait. Jennifer has a appointment with a fertility clinic in ten day's to help her have a baby of her own, Jennifer meets Sineag (she is a Faerie) who tells Jennifer in the year 1313 her true love is and would love her. When Jennifer puts her hand on a rock with a hand print on it she is transported to that year, Jennifer thinks she is stranded on the Island and sees a ship that is near the Island and waves so ship sees her. Aulay MacDonald who is Laird (Chief) of Clan MacDonald, is looking for a English ship that was sunk that has treasure they want on it. Aulay MacDonald is a older man ,early 50's and Jennifer is in her later 30's was delightful reading this book, and the attraction between them, Aulay didn't trust Jennifer thought she was a spy for the English. This story is so good, couldn't put it down once I started, the people were so easy to relate to and the problems of that time period, Aulay family and friends were so close friendship between them all, The fighting scenes were so real you could almost see them. Jennifer needs to get back to her time to keep her appointment with clinic, she wants her own baby so much, and Aulay wants her to stay with him. I was given this book as a ARC to review and honestly I'd review it I bought it, it was super exciting, I felt what some of the people were feeling, Mariah Stone books just get better with each one I read. So much pleasure in reading this story. Can't wait for the next book!

The characters in this story are easy to identify with. The strong bond between the friends travelling and celebrating together is very true to life. Loved this book! Aulay MacDonald is a middle aged incredibly strong and sexy highlander and Jennifer is past the blush of youth herself. She is transported through time just when she is close to being able to fulfill her dream of having a child. Her one shot is with the fertility clinic and with a surrogate. Aulay has already lost the love of his life and has never been interested in another. Their story is so full of passion and romance and also danger and longing that you will not be able to put it down! They have many obstacles to overcome and learning to trust is only the beginning. Absolutely must read! Find out if love really does conquer all. Thanks Mariah! I am anxiously awaiting your next book and hoping to find out what the future holds for Colum!.

Highlander’s Claim is the ninth book in this series. You do not have to have read the previous books to enjoy this one.

When Jenny Foster puts her hand in a rock on an island in Scotland she is sent back to 1313.

In 1313 Laird Aulay MacDonald is searching for a shipwrecked English ship carrying treasure and weapons. When he sees a woman on an island waving her arms, he takes her back to his castle.
Aulay is still grieving his wife who died in childbirth seven years before.
Jenny desperately wants to return to her time to attend a fertility appointment she thinks will be the last chance she has to have a baby.
Aulay thinks she may be an English spy and will not let her leave. She is the first woman since his wife died that he is attracted to.

Aulay and Jennifer are both strong characters. Can they learn to trust each other?
This book has lots of action and sexy romance.

Once I started reading this book, I just couldn't put it down! I adore historical time travel romance stories and Mariah Stone never disappoints me. I always look forward to reading this author's books.

When Jenny, a pediatrician, finds herself traveling back in time, all she wants to do is go back to her time because her last chance to have a baby lies with an appointment she has in a few days with the fertility clinic where her eggs can be transferred to a surrogate. Laird Aulay MacDonald, who has lost his wife and 7 unborn babies throughout the years, would love one more chance to have an heir. When he finds Jenny, the attraction is mutual and he thinks his problems are solved but then finds out she can't carry a child because of health issues. It seems that all is headed for heartbreak but the author makes sure they have their HEA:)

It was so nice to see a story with mature main characters. Both Jenny and Aulay have personal issues to overcome-which just makes them relate even better with each other. I had to shake my head at at how women with knowledge and innovative approaches in a historically male domain were historically viewed as witches. I enjoyed Jenny’s medical navigation of this time period including a clear connection with Aulay. Battle with the English, medical situations and injuries needing more advanced treatment and the emotional ups and downs of true love made this a wonderfully satisfying read.

A great time travel story to the Highlands in the 1300’s where Jenny meets Aulay for the first time. I love that two people from different times have a second chance at happiness. Determined to return to her time, Jenny wants to leave until Aulay is seriously wounded. There is a lot happening in this story that includes meeting Robert the Bruce. I love how a little of real history is woven into the story. This is a great story that I enjoyed. It is well written and entertaining. I would highly recommend it as a great read.

Highlander's Claim
Historical Time Travel Romance
Mariah Stone
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It's 2022 and Pediatrician Jennifer Foster is in Scotland celebrating with her friends and more than a little tipsy when their boat breaks down near Achleith Island. After being put ashore to wait for rescue from the coast guard Jenny notices a rock with some strange markings on it. Then when an enchanting fairy shows up and explains some things to her she knows the poor woman must be out of her mind, but she high fives the carved handprint thinking it can't be real and ends up hurtling back through time to the Middle ages.

It's Scotland 1313 and Highland Laird Aulay MacDonald ia hunting for an English treasure ship that if found can help alter the war. Passing near the island, he sees a woman frantically waving her arms. Could she be a lone survior of a shipwreck? As he gets closer he realizes she is not dressed properly and quite indecent compaired to the medieval style of dress. She babbles nonsense in his ear so he throws her over his shoulder like one of his Viking ancestors would have done and returns to Dunyvaig Castle where he can question her further.

Jenny knows her last chance at a fertility appointment is in two weeks, which means it's her last chance at Motherhood, but godlike Highland Laird won't let her leave. And the most awful part is the more she sees of him the less she wants to go back. Auley hasn't let a woman get close to him since his wife died in childbirth. But if anyone can heal a broken hearted man it's this feisty modern day American woman.
Many things will happen along the way and some hard choices will have to be made, but if it's possible Jenny will move time itself to help Auley in the end.

Mariah Stone is absolutely fantastic. This is one of my go to time travel authors and I'm so happy that I found her. Her books are full of life, strife and lots of historical tidbits. These two characters were probably my favorite so far. Their banter was witty and I really enjoyed it. I could picture these two in my minds eye and the look that was on Auley's face when he realized she really was a doctor (or healer) was hilarious. I was so glad to see these two get their happy ever after, and it never hurts to have an experienced Pediatrician in Medieval Scotland. Ms. Stone you kept me entertained for hours and wrote a top notch book.

Simply captivating read, wonderful characters and story scenario’s

I guarantee that you will be totally blown away by this wonderful addition to the Called By A Highlander’s Series which unbelievably continue to become more complex and more engaging to the reader.

The year is 2022 in the Scottish Highlands and Jenny Foster has been celebrating with friends when the boat they were travelling in breaks down and they are all put ashore on Achleith Island for their safety. Jenny who has a great interest in history and all things to do with druids and stone circles etc.. comes across a stone which has what appears to be a hand print and she decides then and there to “High Five” it.

As Jenny is sucked into a vortex, she finds that she is in the same place but certain things seem to have changed and as she waves to catch the attention of a passing ship, she discovers that the year is 1313 and the rescuer is non other than Aulay MacDonald.

It is obvious that she seems to have gone back in time but Jenny is aware of the belief in witches and burnings so knows she has to be very careful about what she says. She also knows that she has a very important appointment that she has to make but s the days pass her priorities begin to change somewhat.

Auley MacDonald is an enigma that seems to have taken her heart and mind in his hands and she knows that she loathes to leave him, can you really fall in love so quickly? She feels as though for the first time in her life that she may have met her other half, also the other people she has be friended are so important to her as well.

I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

Dr.Jennifer Foster and a group of her close friends are vacationing in Scotland. Jennifer is also here for an appointment at the fertility clinic as she wants a baby of her own. The boat they were touring on broke down and they were taken to a small near by island. While on this island Jennifer met Sineag who told her love is in the year 1313.
She puts her hand on the print in the rock and is transported back in time. Here she sees a boat passing by and flags them down. On the boat is clan McDonald Laird Aulay. Now the two have met and the attraction starts. Both are of mature age and life experience. She is welcomed into his clan with open arms and treated well. Time has come and she must go back to her appointment with the clinic but Aulay wants her to stay. Which will it be?
Another fantastic book!.

Loved, loved, loved this story. To see how Jennifer finds people who mistrust her, and finally gets the recognition she deserves. The hardships the people endured. The Laird who finally believes her. And the enduring love that is truly deserved. Highly recommend this series.

Trust, such a little word, but it means so much. The chemistry between the two main characters sizzles. Part of it is the attraction between the two, while the other part is the intense friction from lack of trust that’s tearing them apart. Both are afraid of being hurt…. again.

I enjoyed this book, just as I enjoyed reading the one before this installment, but I didn't love it as much as I did the previous one.
This book tells the story of Jennifer who after a drunken boat ride with her 21st-century friends, falls through the time portal into the past. She is rescued and then held prisoner by Aulay MacDonald, laird of the region. Aulay is still mourning the loss of his wife seven years ago. Widowed without any children, Aulay is immediately caught up by Jenny's beauty. Jenny, a pediatrician, is divorced and cannot have children, so she has turned to IVF and has an appointment in a few days. She must get back to her time.

The entire story brings up the fact that Jenny can't have children but desperately wants one several times and countdowns to her having to leave for this IVF appointment. It also notes Aulay's loss at not having children. Throughout we start to see him falling for her but any little step out of line, Aulay becomes suspicious and shuns her. Ok, so as mentioned I liked this story but I didn't love it and this was just one of the reasons why. We understand that people who were different in medieval times were shunned and suspect. What I couldn't wrap my head around was that if Aulay was so in love with her, why did he have all these doubts, and then at the first sign of that doubt, he drops her? I also never felt Jenny's love towards him, it was very one-sided. Then there is the whole time travel which in these books of the series is very believable, but if there are these time travelers and many as mentioned at the end have chosen to stay in the time, then how come Aulay and Colum and others are so suspicious and wary of her story of time travel? They had just met the others from the future in previous books! Then at the end, Aulay mentions ever so casually that oh there are those same stones right here on the island. WTH?

As I said this is a very enjoyable story but I don't feel that it meshed well with the others in the series. It can very much be a stand-alone novel. It did rush through things at the end but it does capture your attention throughout. Aside from some sentence structure and paragraphs that could have used a rewrite to be more succinct, Mariah Stone has a great ability to pull the reader into her world and put you in the action. I do really like her books and highly recommend them all.

Can they find a way out of their actual predicament to make things work …

Aulay was introduced in the previous book, a man who has lost everything dear to him, yet who continues to live for his clan and legacy, believing the secret arche into his heart will stay forever.
Jenny has let time pass by her, until it caught up with her and left her alone and forlorn, holding back by a thread, putting all her hopes in one single appointment, she is blind to any other option when the answer was standing in front of her.
I loved Aulay and Jenny, they are flawed, their thinking altered by centuries of traditions and misguided certainties, when they could have it all if only they were able to think and see differently.

Sure it is more than a tale of childlessness, it is a tale that explores all the misconceptions a men’s world put into women, too weak, too fragile, sinful, volatile or mindless. Still paying for the original fault, from a tale told by men for men.
Jenny is to face, with her life and safety at stake, ignorance, misplaced fears, indoctrination, senseless folk-tales …
All the rubbish applied to womanhood by fear of the “weaker sex” and its resilience in adversity.

A lovely hymn to parenthood and the toughness being a female implies in a men world.

During this time she meets a fairy name Sineag, she predicts that Jenny’s future is in the past in the year 1313!

However Jenny soon finds out this fairy was telling the absolute truth, as she sets her hand on a rock and is transported to the past in the year 1313! Jenny sees a ship and waves it down and it is her future love Laird Aulay MacDonald.

Now this Laird Aulay is searching for an English ship rumored to have valuable treasure on it which could help with the war efforts. Now Aulay was very suspicious of Jenny thinking she was an English spy. Now life hasn’t been easy for both Jenny and Aulay as he is a widow who lost his wife in childbirth and she who is her late 30’s and wants a child desperately, but if she does not return to her own time soon it will be too late!

The attraction is there between Jenny and Aulay but can the trust be mended? She needs to go back so she has a last chance to have a child, the one thing she desires most but this highlander is holding her hostage. Will he ever realize this bonny sassenach is not the English spy he suspects but the love of his life? Will Jenny ever have the child she burns for? Read and find out.

I enjoyed that this book had an older couple and again Mariah Stone pens another phenomenal tale you can really sink your teeth into. You can read any of the books in this series as a stand alone book. I absolutely highly recommend Highlander’s Claim another superb time travel romance by Mariah Stone.

I received this arc from Booksprout.co for an honest review. So sorry it is late due to me having covid and being in the hospital.

Islay, Scotland, October 1306, Aulay MacDonald and his friends sit drinking uisge while they listen to Aulay’s wife in the birthing bed. He is Laird to the Clan and his wife Leitis and been to the birthing bed six times before for miscarriage and stillbirths. His brother Eoin’s son, Colum, who is Aulay’s heir, and the younger brother Seoras, believes it was the Earl of Pembrooke who took his brother.

July 2022, four women who are doctors are celebrating one’s divorce. The boat they are on dies and they end up pulling onto land at Islay. Dr Jennifer, Jenny, has two weeks left before going to the clinic to get her remaining eggs out and would need a surrogate to carry for her. They are pretty much sloshed. They go to the faerie rock that has a hand print. Uh oh . They all tap up a high five until Jenny and then the rock glows… and Sineag comes. Hoo boy. I love Sineag. Now I wanna watch Outlander. Everything this author writes is awesome! Especially with Sineag in it.

Now Jenny is back in 1313. Poor Jenny is culture and time shocked. My heart aches for this time period. So much is going on and so much will be lost within the next 100 years from Scotland’s rich history. But I also love stories like this because love is a glimmer of hope.

So much is going on. I love the kids in the orphanage, they are too cute and funny. Plot twists, some good, some not. I loved the book. I’ve missed a few of the books in the middle of the series, so I’m going to have to catch up! Worth it, and I can’t wait for the next book!.

Wow, I have waited for this book as soon as Aulay was introduced to the stories. I just knew he would have his own story. With the loss of the woman, he loved for years, after many miscarriages he has given up on love. He wanted a child more than anything and blames himself for death. Many women of the clan would love to be with him. He has his nephew to take over ruling when the time comes. Now he is just the best laird he can be and helps with the children left with no parents.
While looking for a treasure ship on an island in Scotland, Aulay finds a beautiful if strange woman instead. While she is talking nonsense he can't tell if she is friend or foe. She he takes her home to figure it out. Poor Jennifer just wanted to celebrate with her friends before returning home for her last chance at being a mother. Instead, she drank too much and wakes up in Scotland 1313 ! She is a Dr but no one will listen to her.
Now she is not only lost, but the brute who has taken her doesn't believe her ! He is Hugh, handsome as sin and she feels strongly attracted to him. She has not felt anything for a man since her last boyfriend hurt her. These two are from different worlds, but love and understanding can't tell time.
With so much against them can it work out for both of them ? There are a lot of ups and downs, with secrets and twist and turns you will not see coming. This is a beautiful story. I feel it's best to read the series in order but most can be read as standalone too. Such wonderful characters and history in all of this series. I can wait to read the next one. I received and ARC from the author and wish to thank her.
This is my honest opinion and am freely giving it.

Getting whisked away back to the Highlanders of Scotland for another journey which was a wonderful adventure. I’m glad that we finally got to have a happily every after for Aulay, we met him in the previous book and he has such an interesting history that I could not wait to understand and unravel his past. It did not disappoint that is for sure, but most importantly like all the other Highlanders we had to find his match but as luck would have it his was born in another time. Jenny was just trying to figure out how to cope with this next part of her life and deal with the past that keeps haunting her. Then as luck would have it she gets thrown back in time and meets the man she was meant for but things don’t go as planned. She is an absolute fish out of water. She is a sassy headstrong smart woman who knows what she wants and doesn’t need a man to tell her what to do, but in Medieval Scotland That causes some friction. Once she meets Aulay sparks fly they challenge each other for sure. He has this attraction to her that he hasn’t had with another women since his wife died in childbirth that scares him to death. So as they navigate trusting each other and getting over past issues they become very close. Of course it never goes as well as they need it to after a rollercoaster they end up closer then ever and finally get their happily ever after and everything they ever wanted. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Jennifer is on a trip with her girlfriends, but she must return home by a set date, a date she has at the fertility clinic. Jennifer was betrayed by her husband and once divorced, had not found anyone she wished to be with but she dearly wants a child, hence the appointment at the clinic. When their boat has difficulties, they are left on an Island where Jennifer comes across an intriguing rock. She touched the rock and falls through time.
Laird Aulay lost his wife years ago when she died trying to birth his heir, six times the infant had been still born but the last time too his beloved wife also. He is now in a race with the English to find a treasure ship that wrecked near his home. While looking he sees a woman waving on a beach and takes her hope against her wishes, she may know about the treasure.
Jennifer and Aulay do not see eye-to-eye and are constantly bumping heads, which makes this such a great read. Jennifer is head strong and knows what she wants and that is to rule her own life and not let another man humiliate her, Aulay leads his clan as best as he can and will not tolerate charlatans, which he suspects Jennifer is as what she says cannot possibly be true!
I have loved each and every book in this series, it’s such a great idea, but this is by far my favourite.
I voluntarily received and reviewed an ARC copy of the book.

FANTASTIC READ!!!!! Highlander's Claim by Mariah Stone his book 9 in the Called by a Highlander series and I think this was my favorite so far but I think I say that after I read each new release of Mariah’s. Though in a series this book can be read as a stand alone but I recommend you read the entire series, it really is fantastic and you can learn the characters. What I loved about Highlander Claim is that the couple is older and not young love. Both had been already married and either the spouse passed away or they got a divorce. I found this time travel medieval story easy to read, a tad sad at times, original, vivd descriptions, wonderful characters and just a true joy to read. I could not put this book down!! Mariah’s is one of my favorite authors and she never disappoints. This story has a pediatric doctor, a laird that is morning the lost of a wife and child, wanting a child more than anything, trying to help orphan children from impetigo, needing modern medicine, saving a child & mother, death, a baby that is orphaned, needing to get back before it is too late, thinking she is a charlatan or witch, only wanting to help, a life threatening injury and falling in love and making a choice. I am so highly recommending this book. If you love the story Outlander… you will love this book.

Mariah Stone's books, especially the time travel stories, are great to read. They are easy to read and always full of confusion (because how can you suddenly be 700 years back in time) but also full of love with the love of your life in a different time period.

In this book, that happens to Jennifer. A contemporary woman from 2022, a pediatrician, who still has little chance of having a baby of her own at the age of 39. In 2 weeks she has an appointment to have one of her last eggs fertilized, where her sister will be a surrogate mother. But then she meets Sinaeg who tells her about Aulay and that he is the love of her life. When she falls through the stone and ends up in the middle of a group of Highlanders, she doesn't know how quickly she wants to return.
Caught in a time where people are dying from unsanitary environments, no antibiotics to fight disease and people treat her as an enemy instead of the healer she is. Slowly, respect and love develop between her and Aulay and she faces the most difficult choice in her life, to stay or go back in time.....

Lovely story with a few characters from previous stories at the end

Highly recommended!

Thanks to writer Mariah Stone and for giving me an ARC. This review is given voluntarily

This is a story about a silver fox, who is built like a bear, and the wee red fox who stole his heart. Aulay MacDonald, laird of his clan, lost his beloved wife Leitis in childbirth seven years ago. Since then, no female enticed him until he rescued (or kidnapped, depending on your point of view) Jennifer Foster, who appeared to be stranded on the Isle of Achleith. Jenny, a twenty-first century pediatrician, was on vacation with her friends when she placed her hand on a handprint etched into a fairy stone and found herself in the year 1313. What follows is a trust rollercoaster ride. She is accused of being a British spy, a whore, and a witch before she performs a modern day procedure using Middle Age tools. This story has gut wrenching and heartbreaking moments; times of terror and fury; and some rather sweet and steamy encounters. It is a fast paced, emotionally charged, captivating tale that you will want to read in one sitting. I love that the fierce, loyal and upstanding Laird got his happily ever after.

🌊She left her heart on the Isle of Islay...

4-4.5🌟 stars
The love story is good and Aulay, the male lead, is such a gem. He's seasoned and sad, a fit but graying widower with lots of clan and family but lacking that special someone to light up his life. Jenny, the modern era pediatric physician who falls back to his time, has huge choices to make. Her compulsion to heal and the mystery of her background create problems among the superstitious 14th century Scottish community where she lands.

I liked the dynamic between the leads and their interplay with the children in the community. But I was a bit turned off by Jenny's salty language; otherwise she's a great, strong character looking for it all: motherhood, a career serving others and a loyal man to love.

I loved Aulay, understood Jenny, got into the plot and liked the way things worked out.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
