There is a story of the ocean rising to meet the sparks of the sun to find you in all the shades the world cannot see you in except in the pages of Wild Fire and Magic. If you ever find yourself wondering if you should dive into any of Miriam Otto’s books, I would suggest you stop hesitating and just pick them up. Maybe you may not read it right away or maybe you will but know this, once you do, you will drawn into her worlds and yet whether it is chaos, contemplation or clarity, she will always walk beside you. Every piece, every layout and every page in this book is dipped into the stories from her heart. You will feel her energy and know that she is the girl who loves the seas, the woods and the unknown because that is also who she is.
The author is a skilled artisan of words, art and creativity. She loves asking many questions because she takes pleasure in the answers that arise from her curiosity. Journaling, creating workshops and hosting evenings to encourage understanding of her book are some of the most beautiful journeys that she undertakes with the community. The lines in this book are exactly like pathways with the chapters acting as doorways and the pieces themselves becoming the rooms you need to dive into the depths of your own soul. Her poems have healing properties as they serve to curl under the darkest spaces of the things we don’t speak out about. Gently, she draws out your dreams and invites them to sit on the surface before journeying into the reality of all they hold. Her voices of expression are fierce like a tribe of tigers roaring at you to conquer, to overcome and to believe in yourself. In the might of her quill, she has the wings of a dragon as she watches your own darkness and lays a trap to help you battle what you cannot alone. There are times when she describes the travels made by mermaids with silver tails as they vanish underwater but then again she is also familiar with the language of unicorns.
Through her art, whether it is calligraphy, poems, colors, journaling, photography, workshops or sketches, she reminds us of our childlike ability to rebuild our castles, to add more layers of ourselves in growth and to ignite magic in our own souls so that they can spread it to other souls in need of this light. While she often sees herself as only a spark and encourages individuality of voices, she does not make a big deal of how she holds your hand literally—reminding you to practice healthy routines, implement your boundaries and take care of yourself—while fanning the flames of your dreams to bring out the wild courage of love which is the very heart of magic itself.

Stunning , relatable & inspiring!
What a beautiful book this truly is! This is the second book that I have read by Miriam Otto and it is one that I will enjoy returning to again and again! Not only for the magical and relatable poetry - but also for the inspiring and motivating advice - that just helps you to focus on what you value in life and how it can be a happy and positive one too.
Wild , Fire & Magic: The Universe Within is an anthology that I can relate too as both a lover of reading and writing poetry, but also as a person who values life, not just the beautiful sights - but all it’s imperfections that set to challenge us too- through a mixture of poetry, personal journalism, messages of hope, encouragement and writing tasks . Miriam Otto is a talented poet with a unique and powerful style- that is just captivating. My favourite poems are Spiced Winds ( beautiful imagery) Unmasking Myself ( a powerful concept) You can’t pause a Wild Fire ( metaphorically stunning) My inner critic ( relatable) and My very own song ( inspiring)
If you want a magical and unique read - this is the one for you! Highly Recommended.
