New deputy in town, a single mom, two wounded hearts with a puzzle to solve together--will love spark under the mistletoe?
Sage Dietz lost her first love and must now raise little Tucker alone. Garrett Connolly thought he'd found a lasting love, but instead has left his home for a new start. Fellow deputies, Sage and Garrett find themselves working side by side to solve escalating vandalism aimed at the influx of affluent residents in their small northwoods town. Who is targeting the homes of new people who bring so many needed jobs and fresh cash to the struggling community? On the personal side, can Sage feel love again? Is Garrett chancing a rebound romance, a big mistake? And should fellow deputies be feeling more than friendship?
Welcome back to Steadfast, Wisconsin, a town with people and mysteries you may never forget.
Lyn grew up loving books. Her favorite night of the week was Friday night, when the Bookmobile came to her neighborhood in Illinois. She’d spend those two hours chatting with the driver of the Bookmobile and the librarian and making the big decision of the week — which books to check out! In those distant days, children were limited in how many books they could check out. Lyn could only take home six a week — and there were so many to choose from. Her favorites were Cotton in my Sack by Lois Lenski, The Little House series and the One of a Kind Family series. Later, she discovered Georgette Heyer’s Regency romances! This love of books led to a desire to write. Lyn won prizes in high school and college for her poetry and, not surprisingly, Lyn became a history and English teacher. When she became a mother, she gave up teaching, and while raising a son and a daughter, she began working on her first novel. Then she wrote her second and third. Long years of rejection followed — as it does for most writers. Finally in 1997, Lyn got "the call." Her first book, Never Alone, was chosen to appear in the first year of the new Love Inspired line. Lyn has written many articles on writing and the emerging Christian Booksellers Assoc. (CBA) fiction market. In 2006, Lyn's book, Chloe, is a finalist for the RWA's RITA, the highest award in the romance genre in the inspirational category. Now, Lyn spends her days writing books that show the power of divine as well as human love. Her nest is empty and she and her real life hero, her husband, have more and more time to spend together in their home on a lake in the lovely northwoods. And books are still dear to her heart.
Mistletoe and Sage by Lyn Cote is book 4 of the Northern Intrigue series. I tis an interesting story with hints of family issues, small towns and a mystery. It also is a clean romance which happens in the course of life for Sage and Garrett. Lyn Cote creates a story line that keeps your interest. It is well written. The characters are developed and capture your interest. It does well as a stand alone. This was my first book in the series but I want to read the rest now.
Hold on, wait, what?! Really enjoyed this book, but it ended pretty abruptly! The story was well developed, as were the characters. This fourth book continued on with the previous story lines and characters, and introduced us to Sage and Garrett, both new deputies working under Rodd. Sage and Garrett have histories that we were just starting to get into, and a friendship was just starting to develop between them. Ma Havelicks role in this story was just adorable, and I was also happy that Bruno was featured more in this book. The mystery was a bit easy to guess, but even in that, as the story is progressing, the lid blows off the mystery, relationships form, and the books ends. Just like that. The bones for a great story were there and the pace seemed to be perfect, so I'm not sure what happened, but it felt like 5 or 6 chapters were left out and all the sudden, we skipped to the end.
The faith based content wasn't as strong in this book as the others, but it was clean and appropriate. I am enjoying this series, so I'm looking forward to book 5, although I'm disappointed with how this one ended.
Mistletoe And Sage by Lyn Cote Northern Intrigue Series Book Four
Deputy Sage Dietz has a busy life. The loss of her husband, her first love, still hurts but she has a young son to raise and an old farmhouse to remodel. A criminal to catch. The last thing she needs is to be attracted to her new coworker.
Deputy Garrett Connolly moved to Steadfast, Wisconsin to leave his past behind. To let his heart heal and start fresh. He's reminded of his mom's words not to fall into a rebound romance—so he fights his desire to know Sage better. Easier said than done.
There's a vandal to catch before the out-of-towners come back to Steadfast for the hunting season. The fancy new subdivision that is being vandalized brings in much needed revenue for the town. Working the case—not to mention Ma Havlecek—keeps putting Sage and Garrett too close for comfort.
I loved this romance between Sage and Garrett. Sage is a widow with a cute two year old son named Tucker. She is a police deputy. Garrett is a police deputy at the same office. He had moved there after his fiance dumped him right before the wedding when he changed his occupation from lawyer to police officer. When Sage and Garrett are assigned to work together on vandalism targeting new homes being constructed, they are attracted to each other. I highly recommend this short story with likeable characters as a clean Christian romance. I was gifted a free book by the author and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Sweet story! I enjoyed my first visit to Steadfast, Wisconsin!
Fellow deputies, one a single mom, two wounded hearts with a mystery to solve...
Deputy Sage Dietz lost her husband and is raising her adorable son Tucker with help from the delightful Ma Havelicks and her husband Bruno, who helped raise Sage. Sage works, takes care of her son, is restoring her old farmhouse, and has no desire for anything else.
Deputy Garrett Connolly recently moved to Steadfast, Wisconsin to leave his past behind, to heal and to have a start fresh. He is NOT looking for a new relationship.
I really enjoyed this novella and recommend it for lovers of romance with a dash of mystery!
5 stars I purchased Mistletoe and Sage by Lyn Cote and this review was given freely. This is the fourth installment of the Northern Intrigue series. Widowed and single mom Deputy Sage falls in love with the new deputy Garrett while solving a rash of vandalism. Steadfast Bruno supports his meddling wife MA as she toddler Tucker and tries to spark a romance between Sage and Garrett. Intrigue, a complex and loving family, an abrasive land developer, opinionated towns people, and a clean sweet build to romance make this an enjoyable Holiday short romance.
Steadfast is a small town where everyone knows everybody's business or think they do and don't have any problem airing it out even if it's decades old. But there is also modern day problems with teens, relatives, fear of change. I've read all 6 books and not one let me down. But it took me this long to figure out why I couldn't post a review. If your interested in reading a clean romance (key word "romance") without sex, swearing or other nasties but with a little mystery Sreadfast is for you. Thank you Ms Cote.
After Sage and Trav marry & have finished their respective educations, he is killed in a car wreck, leaving her with a six month old baby. She returns to Steadfast to have family support. Garrett Connally was left at the altar by a fickle bride-to-be, so he packs up and leaves Iowa for a job in asteadfast. Since he and Sage are newbies on the police force, they are partnered together. Of course you know what happens. It was a very good story, just not long enough.
What an interesting story, a bit of a mystery that was wrapped around a love story. Sage is a woman of strong resolve. She lives to fight against all of the gossip and prove that people can be reformed. Garrett is a man on the run from his feelings but finds himself hitting a dead-end and has to face those feelings.
I’m truly enjoying this series by Lyn Cote. Though this is a novella, it’s still well done, only a little rushed at the end. Thankfully the love between the MCs isn’t one of the rushed things and came across as natural. If you’re looking for a sweet, lightly inspirational romance woven into a suspense story, this could be your next book.
Sweet story/romance with a bit of mystery. Made me interested in the series – will have to check them out. Discovered via the Sweet Christmas Kisses 3 boxset. Not really a Christmas story. Bit of religious/inspirational vibe.
I enjoyed the previous books in this series. But this one was much shorter. It was just getting interesting and it was over. Seems like the author ran out of ideas so she just ended the story.
This is a Novella that is part of Lyn Cote's Northern Intrigue series. It is not pivotal to the series.. more a tag on. A quick and lighter read. For me, it was a bit of a space filler while my brain took a break from heavier books.
This is the fourth book in this series and Sage works hard a an officer and Garret is attracted when he hangs mistletoe he gives into feelings Another very good story
3 1\2 -4 stars I didn't realize this was a series. A sweet, Christmas, Christian, Romance Suspense. The suspense storyline going was OK. Loved the characters and setting though.
It was ok. Readable. But I was bored. it took me 5 days to read a 70 page novella. That just shouldn't be a thing. I felt like the author was very redundant and limited in her words, and would describe different things and events the same way over and over again. Not really intending to read more from this author.
