Dame Jilly Cooper, OBE (born February 21, 1937) was an English author. She started her career as a journalist and wrote numerous works of non-fiction before writing several romance novels, the first of which appeared in 1975. She was most famous for writing the six blockbuster novels the Rutshire Chronicles.

Good old Jilly. I enjoyed this collection of articles - a little time capsule. As per, Jilly's views are terrifyingly misogynistic and snobby. But she really is insightful when writing about family and friends.

I did laugh at the article (written in the 1970s) about someone telling her that her most recent book contained some out-of-date ideas!

And reading between the lines her husband sounded truly truly dreadful.
