Falling in love was the beginning of her nightmare…

Addie

My husband turned into a monster the day we said I do. So I ran.

I didn’t expect his head of security to help me escape. I always thought Jude was dark and violent. Just another monster.
He’s more than that, though. He’s also my protector, watching from the shadows as I live my new life.

One day, he’ll come for me like he promised—and I’ll be ready.
Because no matter what, Jude is my monster now.

Jude

I never intended to save her. But seeing her broken was more than I could take.
Once she fell into my arms, I knew the truth.
Addie is mine.

But she looks happy with her fresh start. So I’ll stay hidden. For now.
And when my boss comes, I’ll be ready to do whatever it takes to keep her safe. Then we will be together.

Because no matter what the fairy tales say, monsters do get happily ever after endings…

Addie found herself in an abusive marriage, and since her husband is a powerful man, it's not like there was a lot of help for her without him knowing. Luckily, his head of security, Jude, helps her leave, and promises to find her. Jude does find her, and lives in the shadows to keep her safe in her new life because he knows her husband will come for her. These two had a lot of chemistry when they finally were back in each other's presence, and I cheered them on while they did so but you'll have to hit those one click buttons to see how it all plays out. Silent Cries is a short novella that packs a punch & is easy to read in one sitting since it's impossible to put down after picking it up until every last page is devoured. I do wish it had been longer because I wanted more desperately, so yeah, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

It’s hard for me not to fall madly in love, with every book I read, by Tracey! This book absolutely falls under that category. It’s a novella, so a quicker read, but that, by no means, means that this book is lent involved! It is tangled and full of passion, want, fear and all the other emotions that come with being stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Coming from a family that was involved in a similar background to the main character, I found myself entwined in her mess, longing for her to find her new way and really wanting things to work, but I also ate up the angst that was thrown my way and really just felt as though I was there with her.

The pace was truly excellent, and really kept the feeling flowing nicely. The level of detail meant I honestly did get to feel as though I was part of the story. Honestly, I haven’t read a novella this good in a very very long time.

Hats off to you Tracey, your words have blown me out of the water. I’d give more than five stars, if I could!

What a cracking little novella! This story definitely gave me some Sleeping With The Enemy vibes for sure.

Erin has been suffering in an abusive marriage with Elijah, desperately trying to find her way to escape. Help comes unexpectedly via Jude, one of Elijah’s brooding employees.

The story then follows Erin to her new found happiness in a new town, a new job, friends and more confidence in herself. However, all is not what it seems and Erin is now facing the possibility of her husband finding her….but her saviour Jude turns up unexpectedly too!

This novella has some great twists and turns. I definitely feel the author can expand on this story. It has great scope to become a full novel I feel. Maybe going back to when Erin met Elijah at the start of their marriage and when things started to go downhill. More background to Jude would also be great, as he seems such a mysterious character, I want to know more about him!

So yes a jam packed novella, which I thoroughly enjoyed! Oh and can we talk about the book cover!? How gorgeous is that! 😍

After escaping her abusive husband, Erin moves to Alaska and changes her name to Addie. There she builds a life for herself. When the one who helped her escape shows up, her life is shaken yet again. She must fight for what she wants and to keep herself safe.
Opinion
For such a short novella, this story packs one heck of a punch. From the very beginning, this story has the reader on edge hoping for the best. There is a point where she has quite a few love interests and it gets quite intense.
Many thanks to Bare Naked Words for providing me with an ARC of this book.

Quick read. First time reading this author, and books gave whe slue of emotions. Addie is married to an abusive and powerful husband and when she finally gets the courage to leave, Jude helps her get away. He promises to find her. This is a novella so a quick read and HEA. At times I felt more could have been done but overall a good fast read.

This book had a brilliant storyline and some fun characters. I loved that despite the fact Jude and Addie hardly knew each other, they were able to reunite easily and their chemistry was instantly still there. Overall it was a good, quick read.

What an excellent Novella. The chemistry between Jude and Addie after been apart for so long was electric. There was also enough suspense in the storyline to keep me interested and once I started it I just had to finish it.

Erin was in an abusive relationship until one day she couldn’t take it anymore. She escaped and started a new life but things keep happening. Did someone from her past find her? Jude helped her when she needed it but will she ever see him again?

I voluntarily read this book as an ARC

Erin is married to Elijah Anderson, a man she loved until she didn’t.

He’s a controlling a-hole who’s not afraid to use his power and force on her…….then the opportunity comes for Erin to flee……but…….all is not smooth sailing and Elijah wants his wife back!!!!

An excellent must read

I loved this book. It had me gripped from start to finish. I loved Addie and loved watching her character grow and become more confident and happy. I loved the plot twists, I am normally pretty good at guessing who will turn out to be bad and who is good but this book had me shocked by parts.

What a great novella this is!

Addie has run from her husband, who has been a different person since they got married. She has endured so much that she can no longer live with that danger anymore.

Jude, who works for her husband, is her saviour when he helps her escape.

Fast forward a year and we find that Addie has started to build a new life for herself with the help of some friends, but will she always be looking over her shoulder and wonder if her husband will try and catch up with her.

This book is a great short read, it gives you a bit of everything but I want more (I’m always greedy)

I received this arc for an honest review.

Wow, first time reading this author and omg. This story had alot of emotions, alot of twists and unexpected events but most of all it had a HEA.

I won't go into too much to ruin the story but I loved watching Addie grow as a character and the connection with Jude. I will say beware of the triggers, I loved the story as it showed a real life scenario but, it may not be everyone's taste.

Highly recommend this book and the amazing author.

Suspense, twists, angst & spice ✅

This was my first read by this author & certainly won’t be the last. The chemistry was incredible, and despite this being a novella, there was so much plot packed into the pages.
I just wish it was a full length novel

It’s been a while since I’ve reviewed romantic suspense and I definitely made an excellent choice to return to the genre.

Erin Williams believes she’s won the happily-ever-after lottery when she falls in love and marries wealthy Elijah Anderson, but the ink isn’t dry on the marriage license before he shows his true colors as a master manipulator and mental and physical abuser.

She’s lost much during their brief marriage. Her home country of Canada, the closeness of her family, and her independence. Isolated and alone in Detroit, Erin reaches her breaking point, and when a chance to escape presents itself, she’s ready…but with no clear plan.

But Jude does have one. Elijah’s head of security is the only person who’s shown Erin any kindness, and though she’s afraid to trust him, she knows it’s her only choice. After a shared kiss, Erin leaves with a new name and a promise from Jude to find her one day.

As Erin begins her new life as “Addie,” the plot twists come fast and furious! If I hadn’t been swiping the pages of this novella so fast, I’d have started a scorecard to keep up!

Jude is the perfect dangerous man with a heart, and though a bit too “tortured” for my tastes at times, Addie did win me over as she fought to reclaim her dignity and sense of self.

Kudos to Elodie and Asher for being a great support team. I wouldn’t mind reading about all these folks again!

Enjoy!

Silent Cries
By Tracy Jukes

“I’ve lost so much. My friends, my family, and most of all, my identity.”

Stuck in a life filled with abuse, Erin cannot go on anymore. One fateful night, she decides to get away, and has help from an unexpected source.

“My savior, whose face I have yet to see but already know doesn't turn around, launches him to his feet and sends him on his way. Then he vanishes.”

Running away as far as she can, Erin becomes Addie, a woman who just wants to live her life for her. Enjoying her new life is easy, except for the fear that someone is always watching. When someone from her past finds her, pieces begin to fall into their places, and Addie must do what she can to keep her newfound life.

“That’s another bridge we have to cross. For now, I need to mend my broken heart and work on waiting for however long it takes for him to be released.”

Filled with suspense and mystery, Silent Cries will have you on the edge of your seat. You will cheer Erin/Addie on, and hope that she can keep going, even when things get tough.

So this isn't my usual genre of book- I'm usually very fantasy/YA based but dear gods this was so damn good!
From the prologue I was hooked- Traceys writing style is effortlessly easy to read and get sucked into.
I automatically felt sorry for our MC who has been abused by her husband and then flees to live a new life.
The story always had you on the edge of your seat-knowing something was going to happen.... But when?!
The twists towards the end of the book were brilliant and I cant believe how much emotion and action was crammed into this small novella!
If you like spice you'll love this! The scenes were perfectly written and definitely get you feeling hot under the collar.
What an incredible, well written short story which I cannot recommend enough for something to get you out of a reading slump or while waiting for another book release!

Hearts hope

I loved this book. It is an captivating read that had me hooked from the first chapter.
Addie is on the run from her abusive manipulating husband. Always watched, always confined chances to escape did not come along. Until one day a sliver of hope appears.
Jude has seen Addies hell and vows to do all he can to help her. Escape is the first priority, then keeping under the radar.
All is well for a while but everything is not as it seems.
A great twist tale that captured my heart.
These characters are written with feeling and heart. A beautiful story that I could not put down.
I highly recommend this book and author.
