Risk-taking and danger start to unnerve Shog and Jancie and make them jittery. When Class Act, a famous, international modelling agency, welcomes them to its private world of extravagance and luxury, they can't believe their luck. But as the newness of luxury begins to wear off, it is replaced by terrible fears. A thriller from one of New Zealand's best and most-loved writers.

What a great story. I really enjoyed it. Joy Cowley has a way of taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary. Getting caught up in a nefarious plot to kidnap children, particularly those who have no families to protect them is strengthened with each tense and twisted scenario. I found myself rooting for the children and continued to do so until the very last page. Wonderful. Highly recommended.

I decided to read this book as I love Joy Cowley's books and I wanted to read a book by a New Zealand author and lots of people recommended this book.

The category this book fills on the bingo board is 'A book by a New Zealand author'. I liked this category because it was nice to read a book by someone from the same country as I am as there aren't as many New Zealand authors as there are from other places.

"It's the loving heart that finds heaven on earth, Jancie girl." is "It's the loving heart that finds heaven on earth, Jancie girl." This is my favourite quote because I think it is put beautifully and really good and true advice. I like how it gave me a knew perspective on life that I hadn't really considered like that before and it worked well with themes that were in the ending chapters of the book.

Something new I learned from this book is how deep the bond between twins can be. Jancie and Shog completely understand and trust each other. They always seem to know what the other is thinking and feeling and why. While they don't always agree with each other, they always figure something out and know they are in everything together.

A character I find interesting in this book is Jancie Donoghue. I find Jancie interesting because she is very passionate about things and as Shog puts it "always whirling in excitement between love and hate". She seems so strong and fearless yet she breaks down whenever her Gran is mentioned and completely lost control when she discovered the secret behind Class Acts facade. Also, when she became her astral body she was faint and not very strong which was surprising. Another thing I find interesting about Jancie is how she looks. Her looks are a cross between the Jamaican and the Irish in her as she has a high nose and wide dark eyes yet copper-coloured tight curly hair.

This was a childhood favourite, so when I saw it at a second hand bookshop (brand new, but still second hand price!) I had to buy it :P

It's a lot darker than I remember as a kid, I feel like it should have scared me when I read it as a child....still just as good though!

A children's dystopia: short, sweet, spunky, and a little bit scary. Perfect for ten to thirteen year olds.
