What on earth did I just read?!?!!! 🤯🤯🤯 Y’all!!!! This story was every bit toxic and forbidden. Well maybe not forbidden but HIGHLY questionable!! I meeaannnnnn!!! This was a doozy!
Imani is a 23 year old college graduate that has just returned from studying abroad. She is carefree and ready to start really living her adult life with her lover that she’s kept secret from her family for the past 4 years. Why a secret?! I’m glad you asked 🤣🤣 it’s because this nxgga is her fathers 56 year old best friend Don!!!!! Baby when I tell you that the moment this was revealed and no longer hidden thing took a turn!!!! I mean we twisted and turned so much throughout this book I needed some Dramamine for motion sickness!
Imani’s mama was real life trash and I really hated her in this book! She was so selfish and honestly ruined EVERYBODY’S life only thinking about herself! I was NOT expecting this book to end the way it did and I’m not sure how I feel about it. I totally understand why Don did what he did but dxmn!!!!
If you’re looking for some good ole fashioned ghetto toxic entertainment then this is the book for you! Also to note the grammar and editing could’ve been tighter but it didn’t pull away from the story!

IT'S A MUST READ FOR ME🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
BAY-BE Queen Penny Blacwrite most definitely earned them 5 🌟 and then some. This book was recommended by my Booski and I'm so glad she did cause this book right here😳👀🤦🏾! It was so raw and a topic that has become from page news, older men dating younger women. Although I've never dated a man old enough to be my dad, I've most definitely dated older men🤷🏽
Rob😢. He pretended to be blind to the ish bit, he gave them ALL the shock of their lives😳👀😂😂😂.
That bih Bonita was a selfish bih until the end😡. Talk about a grimy IDGAF about nobody but myself a** person. The levels she went to to keep her secrets hidden😔. Even after it all came out she was still trying to keep up her lies. Oh but, Rob's karma to her😳😂😂😂😂😂. Greedy bih😜. She treated her daughter Imani like she was competing with her🙄😔. Just hateful, jealous, bitter and miserable asf😡. I've NEVER wanted to choke a character out more than her🤷🏽.
Don😔. You couldn't help but to have a love hate relationship with him. It's like on one hands he was considered a predator, on the other hand he was sooo attentive, supportive, loving, caring, had BDE😜. What he did to Imani was unfu**king forgivable😡😡😡.
Imani was just dealt a bad hand all around. Nobody protected her😔. Her momma was too busy disagreeing her😺all over town, her daddy was either working or too busy gaming to pay attention. Unfortunately that mad her the perfect victim to be groomed😔. My heart truly went out to her from dealing with Donte phuck boy a** leaving her after his friend got killed. To dealing with all the tea that was spilt by Charlene a**🤦🏾, to everything that transpired after the fact. And Rob's Will definitely set the tone for EVERYBODY'S future. In the and she came out on top, made sure her and her brothers got the therapy they needed and took care of them and her blessing that she received💕. One thing Don did was insured she was taken care of no matter what.

umm idk what I just read
Let me start this review by saying I love forbidden romance and age gaps stories but that's not the reason I didn't like the book. This storyline was all over the place and it was so many inconsistencies that it was almost impossible to follow along. Like it was no real plot to the story and no the problems was never solved. It's a no for me

I don’t even know what to say…there was so much going on.. I don’t know.
The dysfunction of the Bleeker family was on a level I have never seen before. So many lies and SO MUCH betrayal. I thought for sure when Imani was seeing the therapist that would be a turning point in the story for her but hell nah. She went full force. And her mama? Girl…this whole mess is actually her fault. She ruined this family before they even had a chance. The fate of her and Don was a lot.

The author pulled no punches with this one. We were given everything in the “Ain’t Shit” canon, but left with no real resolution. The story was ok, but extremely superficial. I know, realistically, stuff like this happens to people. I just wish the story had more depth by addressing the issues that were presented and not running away from them with that sidestepped ending we got.

This book definitely lived up to its title! My mind was blown but I was able to keep up with all of the secrets. This is a trope that I don’t read a lot but idk I may have to dabble in some dark romance now. Lol. The book is well written and will definitely keep readers guessing what will happen next. This is new to me author but I plan to check out more of her work.

Imani Bleeker is a nineteen-year-old Daddy's girl, who is also in a forbidden relationship with his best friend and her godfather, Don "Greedy" Davidson. There's were so many skeletons in the closet, which once revealed, at times proved deadly.
This book by @pennyblacwrites took me on an emotional rollercoaster. I couldn't believe half of what I was reading, and it pissed me off so bad. If I had to choose a favorite character, it would be Robert, Imani's father. That lick back was something serious! My least favorite character was definitely Bonita. She was the grimiest of them all.

What a damn ride!!! I wasn’t expecting this story to take the turns that it did. I did enjoy the read. I just felt it left me with some important questions that were left unanswered. But overall I was truly entertained!

My first but definitely not my last!!!!!!!
I really don't have words!! This was my first book by Penny Blacwrite and I must says she's a star on the rise! This had all the twists and turns and really just left you flabbergasted in the end! I felt bad for Imani she really thought Don loved her just to find out he was using her this whole time! Her mama Bonita was a whole $&% I was glad when Rob finally read her tail. THIS WAS SOOOOO F'ING GOOD!!!! I want to say so much more but I don't want to give anything away

Wow
Truly enjoyed this story. Poor Rob I knew holding on to Bonita's secrets end the end I think he couldn't handle it anymore and finding out that he was sicker than he expect I think it wasn't an accident I think he took his life. Just like Don did after all if the Betrayal from the love of his life and the way he handle her secrets to realizing that getting back at Bonita only lead him to fall in love with her but the cliffhanger was him taking his life before he died not knowing I'm anni was not his daughter therefore he was not sleeping with his daughter. Happy that I man I decided not to out her brothers through all of the extra grief, betrayal and mothers dirty little secret. Bonita was indeed a love sick person to take her life after finding Don she didn't even think about how her sons would feel discovering they lost all of their parents were dead. Great story

I have never read a story like this before, I had read a lot of stories from other authors but this took the cake. I don't understand why Don killed himself without finding the results of the paternity test. Bonita was selfish when she killed herself and left her son's alone, I guess if she couldn't have Don in life she'll have him in death. Imani now have Don's son that he never got to meet, this was tragic and sad. I felt sorry for Rob and Imani the most. Don should of never started a relationship with Imani and Bonita was selfish. It's like they deceived everyone, That text he sent Imani about getting back at Bonita was messed up. This was a great story and I'm glad I took the time to finally read it. I been sitting on this book for a while now, I just decided to read it. Great job!!!

A whole lot of messed going on
I want lie I was ready to put this book down and move onto another one but I promised to read it so I kept doing it. I ended the book with mixed feeling going from it was OK to wow I didn't see that happen. It was so many secrets going on between the characters and yet the only ones thats seemed to have a real emotional attachment was Imani and Rob her dad. I felt like growing up with Don always being around that though she felt she was in love with him that really was the case. The ending was crazy before the very end which was a good way to end the book. Poor Dennis if this was a sitcom he wouldn't have made it to season 2

Whew child that Bonita and Don should have been put in front of a firing squad why did she tell her son everything but not her daughter who needed to hear it the most Don knew how to get Imami young girls will fall for money attention and promises it sure didn’t take much for him to in between Bonita legs poor Rob he was wrong for that will those boys were innocent he took care of them all his life knowing they weren’t his why reveal in his will and dump being there dad this book was phenomenal I bet Imani pregnant and Don answered that phone hey girlfriend so so easy

VERY GOOD!!
I just wished that Rob could have lived! He didn't deserve to die considering how he loved a woman that was cheating on him the whole marriage. She used him the whole marriage! It was so sad. But, he loved Imani even though he believed she wasn't his. Don was so wrong! Imani was so wrong, and Bonita was so wrong! And to think Don was using Imani to hurt her mother all because she married his best friend! He was still in love with her too! The fact that he told Imani that was sooo wrong! But, she still wanted to be with him even after knowing that! Best book I've read by this Author!

That mother was something else! All the secrets of twenty years came out full force! I understand how someone could have a relationship, end it, then reconnect, but when it keeps on and on when your involved / married to someone else that's not a good look! How dumb could you be and not wonder if the children is yours but go on and have relations with the product of your so called friends. I wonder what his paternity test really said? Was she his daughter or not. Like they say what happens in the dark will come to the light eventually.

And The Oscar Goes To....
While this entanglement was indeed a toxic one, I felt the story was hurried and not detailed enough. In all honesty, I read this cover to cover and I am confused AF. I have so many questions... Sooo many questions. Ron was the biggest shock. He desrves an Oscar. How could did he pretend knowing all the facts surrounding his wife and best friend? Ron should have definitely had a POV...maybe through his eyes I could have understood this better...Sadly, no one won...but the betrayal left a ton of brokenness

Or did the test get mixed up because she was pregnant and they thought he wanted to know if her baby was his. Either way the ending took me out. Another thing why did she get all that money when he didn’t give his own sons as much. I still got questions she need her own book with a updated at this point.

This read was so good! I can’t believe Imani’s mother was that ratchet! I was so sick thinking Imani was sexing her father, glad that wasn’t true! I truly believe none of those kids were by her husband! And the tragic ending was so horrible! I didn’t feel sorrow for Imani’s mother, however I felt for Don a bit. At least everyone had a good bank account to fall back on! I really loved this read!! Thumbs up!!!!

This book kept me on the edge of my seat staring at the first page. All these twists and turns. All the supposed unknowns that were known. All the drama!! I’ve read older man younger woman books but this one right here took the cake. Right when you thought you knew you really didn’t. This is my first book by this offer and this book alone she has a new fan!! Highly recommend this book! If your looking for spoilers you won’t get them from me. Enjoy this wild ride!!!

Four stars because I’m not easily gagged but this book definitely gagged me. To say this book is a wild ride is an understatement! Toxic is the story of completely amoral people doing a bunch of mind blowing foolery all around ATL.

All I got to say is' Whew Chile' the level of deception was at all time high, the fact that Bonita held that secret and watched her daughter have affair with her own father was to much for me ,that suicides was crazy but understandable because the truth was to much to bare ,then Mani had the baby by end was crazy but her decision to live in denial!

I’m so glad I don’t have a mother like hers!! Rob wasn’t any better because he should have nipped everything in the bud instead of being a petty coward and exposing all that in his will! Once I found out all the stuff the mama was hiding, I didn’t feel bad for her son going upside her head.

I know I didn’t…
I CANNOT believe this story!!!!! My jaw is still on the floor!!! I wasn’t the biggest fan of Greedy but I was NOT expecting his ending to go that way. Bonita made me want to jump in the book and slap her! This book gave me all the emotions. I hate rollercoasters and this book definitely gave those vibes. 5 star read for sure!

Words cannot express how I feel about this novel, I just wish it had ended on a better note, look into the lives of these people where secrets that come out hurt the ones you love!!! Penny Blacwrite wrote the book, this is all I will say bc I am a person who tells the whole story and spoil the ending, this book is a must read

Heavy on the mind
There is a lot to unpack here and you just have to read it to believe it. I liked it well enough but the end was so saddening to me. With the subject matter I totally get why it is so devastating but it’s a page turner and it read quickly within a couple of hours.

Title speaks for itself!!
All I can say is wow! By the title I expected this book to be a lot but that is an understatement. The ending was really unexpected. I know every story doesn't have a happy ending but poor Imani. She came out strong though. Proud of her growth at the end. Great read.

Say whoa Chile!
This was definitely a good book. I was a bit disturb about the age gap between the main characters. It gave me predator vibes. Yuck. Then to find out he was a hot toxic mess, by Indulging in the Mitochondria DNA. JUST YUCK. THE ENDING took me by surprise.....WOW! PLEASE READ THIS BOOK ASAP!!! YOU will not be disappointed.
