I never thought my dreams of being a healer would come true, but it looks like they are about to.
Tempest Tanner is a true witch from one of the original lines of light magic. All he’s ever wanted is to be a healer, and now, thanks to his new family, he can begin his training.
But a dark spell puts Tempest's life in danger and his magic out of action. Thankfully, Ben Stone, the local mechanic and wolf shifter—and brother to the Alpha— is on hand to help.
With danger lurking around every corner, can Tempest survive long enough to snag his man and receive perfect tens?
Once again E. broom takes us to the town of Cadenbury for another adventure full of laughs, thrills, love, and a bit of mystery. I absolutely love this crew and everyone in it. Ben and Temp were absolutely adorable together. I loved how Temp punished Ben by sending him annoying songs on repeat through the mind link; that had me cracking up.
I don't want to wait for the next in the series! I have some suspicions for sure. Loved this installment of the series. Cannot possibly reccomend it highly enough!!!
While this is cute and has some action i find that parts of this book drag. This is the type of book I pickup when I dont have anything else to read. It's fine, the characters are fine, the storyline is fine, the spice is minimal.
I had really hoped that the third book would see a change in course back to the style and level of storytelling that I found so charming and engaging in The Crazy Bookshop. Then came Where There’s a Witch There’s a Way and what I felt was a breakdown in the narrative which left huge hunks of exposition untold as well as serious character issues and plot issues left dangling.
I was going to leave the series there. But saw this release and thought, maybe the issues I had in book two were just items the author was saving until now. Hence , Double Wolf Dare You.
Reads book.
Me: *hitting head against desk*
Author: ?
Me: remember issues from last book?
Author: nods
Me: not resolved. Added more.
Me: a Big Bad from Books 1 & 2 calls the MC, Temp, threatens him to strip him of magic?
Author: yes
Me: The MC says nothing to anyone. Because, hey, he doesn’t feel it’s a threat . Even though the person says he, a former enemy , is coming for them all AGAIN. Right?
Author: yes
Me: Then of course, he gets sick and blah blah because he told no one.
Author: yes
Me: so if anything logical or smart as telling ppl a former enemy was coming to strip everybody’s magical abilities AGAIN, uh well, 🤔.. you wouldn’t have a book? Correct?
Author:
Me: So stupidity , miscommunication , and repetitive plot issues are in store for the readers for the rest of the narrative because of that factor?
Author:
Me: sigh
And I’m really finally absolutely done with this series. No amount of small imaginative details can save it from decision making like that.
Honestly, towards the end I was flipping pages to save myself a headache from reading the increasingly worsening situations and dialogues before me.
Oh no! Let’s go back to the town full of evil magic and endless catacombs that we should have finished off in Books 1 and 2, and said so , but didn’t because we needed to be idiotic and return in Book 3! Plus it’s the only evil town around apparently. SMH
Yes, I’m done with characters that are TSTL, TSTC, and plots/writing that just are so narratively illogical and plain awful.
I don’t know who’s a fan of these stories, I’ll leave them to you. I’m bowing out.
Cadenbury Town series: 🔹The Crazy Bookshop 1 🔹Where There’s a Witch There’s a Way 2 🔹Double Wolf Dare You #3
My reviews are my own. If you liked this book, I’m glad you enjoyed it. If not, I respect your opinion. This is merely my opinion, so let's keep it courteous.
Blocking callers is an option...that was the lamest excuse for communication. Both for Ashole Tim and the other guys' parents. Just Saying! Why do you even pick up their calls?!?!?!
Insta-Love Not as bad as in the first two books, but still no relationship development.
Food Fixation and Other Useless Info Dump Same as the first book, I believe this author has some food fixation issues; the topic brings nothing to the table since neither of them is a chef or baker, or cook, but we keep reading about food. Several other topics have no value to the main story, but we get info dumps about them.
Characters I like the characters as separate beings, but not the chemistry between them coupled; the relationships are just weird. On this one, the witch knows Tempest from previous books, but all of a sudden, she comes up with a lame and sexist nickname. Why does Molly have familiars but the other witches don't? I never got that, or maybe I missed it?
Scorecards This author is definitely a one-trick pony. Again with the same?
Counsil There is a council of witches, but nobody is prosecuted for harming others. So it is ok to kill whoever you want as long as non-magical people know about it? Like, why wasn't Tim originally taken in, and now all of a sudden they are taking the Baltazar guy?
Poor Decisions They are aware that the caves were used for nefarious purposes, yet they leave them open with no protection. Also, the "dark mages" are supposed to be less powerful, but once they have encountered them, they are super powerful. Yes, they say is because others have given them the powers, but they are beyond powerful, especially the Tim guy, who was stripped of powers, but all of a sudden he is so powerful with powders from he dark-web? BS
The story still suffers from major editing issues, if there was any editing at all. The timeline is also ridiculous, just like previous books. The story moves at a lightning pace, so it makes you feel like you are on a drop from a rollercoaster. Copy-paste from the previous books, nothing new. Poor development. You can write cozy stories without all the sap.
The editing!!! I love this series so far even despite the lack of sex scenes. But the editing is rough. In the last book the author accidentally called Alfred, Albert. And now in this book they called septamus “septimius”. I can understand some grammatical errors… but when you start messing up character names it bothers me. Obviously not enough to stop reading, because now I’m invested, but I wish the editing was better. Still a good series. And unlike other books, I can’t figure out how this is all going to play out. I have my theories, but I can’t actually say what I think will happen and that intrigues me! Normally I can always tell where a book is going and what is going to happen but not with these books! Which is amazing.
I am loving this series! Never a dull moment in Cadenbury. Every time this group of witches and wolves solve one problem, another pops up. This time Temp and Ben are targeted as Temp's brother Tim attempts to steal his magic back. There's also a group of mysterious dark witches that want Temp's magic for themselves. With all the drama going on this group still finds time to have fun sassing one another. A fun installment but now I am worried about the little revelation at the end. Can't wait for the next one!
This is a modern paranormal one POV romance, the third book in a series that should be read in order. This is one of those “fated mate” stories but it was kind too f a slow burn from the last book where it gave a hint they weeee crushing on each other! The magic is so wonderfully written and the mystery of who are the baddies is killing me! It did have the same “fade to black” for the sexy times but they didn’t cut the affectionate and lead ups which made me feel this couple’s connection so much more!
The scorecard I'm holding up definitely has a ten on it. All the books in this series deserve them. Although the next time Ernest and Adhan kiss, I might just hold up a nine! Spiteful diva! Cadenbury is a wonderfully fun place to live and visit. Filled with family, coffee and cake. And magic. So much magic. The author has a light, quick touch and gives us humorous dialog and memorable characters. Can't wait to read more.
I so loved this book. Temp and Bens story is really cute. The characters were more than well written. I fell in love with them and their story. I will definitely read it again in the future. Whoopsi I don’t want to spoiler anything so I just say I genuinely liked the plot as well. It was actually thrilling. Can’t wait for the next book and how it will proceed.
A great addition to the continuing saga of Cadenbury town. Much better writing and grammar in this installment, just a few punctuation errors were noted. The storyline is decently constructed with a definite positive slant and a reasonable resolution at the end of this book, even though it’s not yet the end of the series.
I continue to enjoy the series. The MCs, supporting characters and the town are sweet. I love a story that has an interesting storyline, plot, action and love. This series appears to be light on the steamy scenes as they are mainly kissing and what I deem more of fade to black kind of love scenes. Yet, I'm still invested in the story and looking forward to see how the series will evolve.
He and Ben are wonderful together. Temp is my favorite character in this series. He is always calm and cool, just one step a head of the evil. He has fun with his magic but he learns to love the little things that goes with the process. He also is so happy with his life with Ben and love so deeply for his new found family.
I really enjoyed this story. It was engaging and flowed well, just a little fast. I found myself hoping that Temp would have an animal familiar claim him, as animals seem to like him. I will definitely read the next book in the series. Wonderful story.
This was a wonderful read. I am absolutely loving this series. So many questions I can not wait to see who is up next. Definitely would love to see some side characters get thier happy endings ans pray Molly says around forever. ❤️
Another winner in my book. This third book in the series was full of mystery and mayhem. The witches and shifters in Cadenbury Town were chasing their "tails" for a while. Love the characters and love the story. Recommend reading.
I am addicted to this series every book brings a little something different to the table where you know something big is going to happen in the last book.I am so enjoying the series and can't wait till the next book.
I am absolutely loving this series,it's a magical mystery full of sass, action and love. The characters are brilliantly done, the stories keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you wanting more, more, more. Highly recommended loved it
Another one falls to the love of their fated wolf mate. Keeps getting more tangles with dark witches. The pack stronger then ever but learning someone close will betrayal
This is the 3rd book I have read and love each of them. I really like the action, mystery, and humor. I also like that the love scenes are left to your imagination, and not long or drawn out. If you are looking for a great read with insta-love, humor, and magic then this series is perfect!
