An encyclopaedic collection of resources for anyone looking to enter the literary industry…
The Writers and Artists Yearbook is an encyclopaedic collection of resources for anyone looking to enter the literary industry – it contains pretty much everything for any writer or illustrator across any genre who might be looking towards publishing. Although it is UK centric, there is so much within that any literary creative from anywhere in the world could benefit from. A huge part of research is not just directly learning about the subject for me, but to look into everything surrounding it and there are so many stories within this guide that motivate, inspire and inform. Many of the guest writers share their own experiences of success alongside practical advice that have given me plenty of ideas going forward for my querying journey.
The listings of literary agencies, publishers, competitions, newspaper, magazines and more is hugely detailed. To me they serve as a guiding light towards where I hope to be going and many of us who are seeking representation want to know we are going to a trustworthy place. For anyone who is looking to understand more about publishing to those ready to query – this is the book for you. I’ll be moving towards another round of querying quite soon and with this book, I’m hopeful for success.
A useful tool for anyone looking for an agent or indeed for more insight inot the world of publishing with huge cross-genre references, advice and examples set out in a logical and easy to navigate manner. Because of the amount of content, the book itself is quite bulky and there's no way Icould have used a Kindle to navigate my way through it, which is why I bought a physical copy.
For anyone who is writing, written a book etc this is for you! I submitted to 3 publishers and was offered a hybrid contract from the first reply...it was so helpful
