Nympho Fallen

Havensea. My city. Sounds like a nice place to live, doesn’t it? Well, it’s not.

My name is Whisper Gray. I have no home. No home, because my boyfriend, Marco, kicked me out. Why did he kick me out?

“You’re nothing but a f***ing nympho. A filthy, disgusting nympho.”

Which is his word for “whore”. Laughable, since he’s the one who made me what I am.

But now I’m out on the streets. Back on the streets, where I was so many years ago, before Marco pulled me from the gutter, cleaned me up, and turned me out. At some point he took a liking to me, claimed me as his, put his mark on me.

I still have the mark, but I don’t have Marco. He’s rich. I’m not. All I have is the streets. The streets of Havensea.

God help me.

And then Liam Slater appears...

Content Warning: This is a dark romance tale for mature readers. Contains strong language and sexual situations, moments of violence, and potential triggers. “Nympho Fallen” is Book One of a series, and ends in a cliffhanger.

Oh god, this book was so over the top I'm still laughing/smirking. So in that regard, I definitely was entertained. However, I think I found hilarity in parts that weren't supposed to be funny.

This book will definitely not be for everyone. Most of the people in this book are half-naked or nude for the majority of the book. The heroine was a prostitute in the past and becomes a pole dancer in the hero's club in this book. On a side note, the cover is gorgeous, & I think is a good representation of the heroine.

I loved the premise and concept of this. I wanted to love this book so badly, especially since it's been a hot minute since I read anything classified as dark romance (the romance wasn't dark, but the story was), but the execution fell a little bit flat. I think the writing was somewhat to blame with the choppy sentences every couple of pages, and the over-the-topness of the story, Slater's constant violent thoughts, DeeDee never wearing pants/underwear & in the beginning repeatedly attacking Whisper to the point that it got annoying. Here's an example of the choppy writing. It's not the best example, but

"I sink my teeth into his ankle and bite fucking hard. Tear. Come away with a bloody chunk that I spit into the gutter. Go for another bite."

Is that even possible? How sharp are her teeth? Is she a vampire? Are we resorting to cannibalism now?

Another example: "I sit back down. Start on my makeup."

Another 2 things regarding the writing that I didn't like were the use of 'rage (what are you abbreviating?) & 'tude (for attitude).

The hero was still fucking another woman at 35%, though this was still before he and Whisper got together. I wanted to put that out there because I know it will definitely bother some readers. It didn't bother me, but at the same time, I didn't love it. The hero also thinks how nice the OW's vagina feels.

I will say that I was impressed with how the hero's POV felt very realistic to a guy's. Then I found out the author is a guy, and everything made so much more sense. How many references to breasts there were, how the male characters were always checking out the girls' racks, the use of "twat" and "snatch". Similarly, the first-person writing worked well with the character's background of being uneducated, lower-class, etc.

I wish that there had been more world-building because I was confused about whether Havensea exists in another world, or if it's our world but a fictional place. However, what tidbits of the world of Havensea I got were very interesting. I would have liked to see a movie made out of this and show the gritty setting. Though that movie would probably be rated as NC-17 lol.

There was one sex scene at the beginning between Whisper and Slater (H & h) that I found really hot. Then my mom came in and made me leave to pack, so the moment was almost ruined. The others didn't really do much for me, and with one sex scene at the end, I almost skipped a few paragraphs.

I hate the whole misunderstanding (similar to miscommunication) trope that was put in at the end. It seemed like the author didn't know how else to write the cliffhanger or move the story forward, but then at the same time, I understood why Whisper could have thought that about Slater. It was just frustrating since we knew from his POV how he always guarded the well-being of his girls fiercely and was very anti- human-trafficking.

I have so much more to say about this book, for instance, I thought the heroine's generosity went too far when we knew she was actively trying to save up enough money to get out of Havensea one day. But this review is long enough.

Thanks to my BookSirens for my first ARC from there! And thanks Mia for reading this with me for our second buddy read! Part of me wonders if I had more fun talking with you about this book than actually reading it lol
You can read Mia's review here: Mia's Review

I think I will continue with this series because I am curious to see what happens, and I don't like leaving a series unfinished if it's only a duology.

(Thank you BookSirens and the author Casey Cane for the free eARC in exchange for a spoiler free, voluntary review)

Buddy read with Audrey!

This book is described as a dark romance on BookSirens but there really wasn’t enough content covered in this book to make it seem that way.

The plot: Heroine has trauma, hero is supposedly a bad guy, hero rescues heroine, put both in a room and that becomes romance. Except there were over the top descriptions of everything else except their connection to one another.

This book had a lot of short forms/slangs of words and I couldn’t get used to that type of writing till the end, mainly because I’m not exposed to them. I couldn’t connect with both Whisper and Slater, their “connection” seemed to be based on lust more than genuine feelings. The more I read the more I wanted to be done with this book because there wasn’t much plot or character development.

The book’s length could have been shorter and the language definitely needs to be clearer so that it attracts a wider audience.

I really enjoyed this gritty, dark erotic romance. As a picky reader, I found myself flipping through the pages and was able to turn off my brain to enjoy the story.

Summary

Whisper has just been kicked out by her abuser of the last four years. After getting saved by a hooded stranger, she finds a shelter and a job stripping at a club. Her past is dark and the trauma haunts her, but she’s tough and navigating through it. The strip club owner, Liam Slater, turns out to be the hooded stranger, a former gang leader who is in the middle of a turf war. Whisper and Liam have instant physical attraction that grows quickly. Everything comes to a point that leaves you with a cliffhanger ending.

What I liked

The writing flows well and it’s well edited. You’re not bogged down by too many descriptions, long text blocks, or weird sentence structures. I think that’s hard to find in ARCs, so I was quite impressed.

The story is over the top and it’s truly erotica in that the entire story is laced with sex. I found it easy to just go with the story and not over analyze feasibility.

There’s a good mix of humor, strange yet interesting characters and mystery added in. Lots of layers to the story that piqued my curiosity and left me wanting to see how it all unfolds.

What I didn’t like

Any female character that, upon seeing or hearing a guy, gets so wet it drips to her ankles is just cringe to me. Yes, getting a little wet makes sense but drenching your shorts is an automatic eye roll.

The sex scenes are kinda… tame? She’s mostly in her head, thinking about the past yet supposedly having this life changing sex. We don’t get any dirty talk, or good descriptions of positions, what Slater is doing, where he’s looking, the noises he’s making, how she feels under his gaze, etc. Given that it’s so erotically charged and sexually explicit in other ways, I expected more spice and graphic showing instead of telling. I say this as someone who has read A LOT of regency romance novels and somehow, those are spicier and more erotic.

Other than that, it’s an enjoyable read and I’ll definitely check out the next installment. Hopefully the author will turn up the spice.

Must admit I thought a MC story was going t to the usual script but when I started reading about Whisper Gray, and the awful things she had survived ,The streets, then Marco, I was in awe.

Then Liam Slater enters to save her and looks like she's met another man to use and abuse her. While being embroiled into a Slater and the battle with Brass.

And wow. I was hooked . Just as you think you got a handle of how things are going to turn out…

Everything twists and changes. Amazing read couldn't put it down.Bring on the next book quickly please.😁

First time reading this author and wow! I read the whole book without putting it down. Who needs to sleep, right?

This is definitely DARK, lots and lots of triggers. If you don't like dark, I'd suggest you steer clear, if the title didn't already give you a hint. It starts fast, races along until suddenly, The End. For now anyway. Waiting for the next book will be an unwanted test for my lack of patience. I think I'll re-read this while I wait to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Whisper - such an awesome name. So, so many dark dealings happening - and it's only the beginning! I loved seeing Whisper gaining confidence, putting the past behind, making friends, starting to believe in & recognize herself..for herself. And holy smoking hotness with Slater - together they are on fire! Those dark dealings happening though.... yikes.

No spoilers from me. If you like the dark - READ this BOOK!.

I don't even know what to say other than this book disgusted me. I stopped at NINE percent because I felt so gross.
I feel like authors label their stories as "dark" romances and think they can get away with anything. I can't even comprehend the things I read in those few short pages.
Friends, please stay 100 feet away from this book.

This is the first book I have read by this author. This is a dark, intense, somewhat erotic romance story that had me drawn in from the beginning. Whisper lived on the streets most of her life and therefore had to do some things to make sure she survived. Along comes Marco who sweeps her off her feet and gives her all the luxuries. Along with these luxuries, she is also required to sleep with whomever Marco tells her to. Whisper is broken and abused, but she is a fighter. Once Marco is done with Whisper, he throws her out and leaves her in one of the roughest parts of town where she is almost raped until Slater comes along to save the day. Slater is a strip club owner who is not into relationships and women are only good for one thing, but he will hurt anyone who harms his girls. He is having some issues with Brass (President of the MC Slater had started) and is causing problems.

Whisper starts working at the strip club and has some kind of magic as she has everyone including Slater in awe! Things are heated between Slater and Whisper, when her roommate brings her some news, it could change things for them both. This ends on a cliffhanger, and I cannot wait for the next book to come out. There could be a few triggers, but if you like steamy, this is the book for you! This author first came to my notice with another series of books and I was eager to try this one. I am blown away with the story and once again, the writing.

The fmc is a strong woman who has been mistreated, made into a "nympho" by the man gaslighting her. She's been through more in one lifetime than most men twice her size would tolerate. She's a survivor of the streets, a woman who kicks butt and takes names and yet she is fragile, made to question her own worth.

The way that the author decided to write this story sets the stage for a gritty, dark, dog-eat-dog world. The fragmented, frantic sentences are like someone panting after running all out. The thoughts are wild. Repetitive at times and at others uniquely descriptive and beautiful.

This is the first of the "Nympho - A Dark Romance" series comprised of 4 books. They are not standalone and end in a cliffhanger until the conclusion at the end of book 4. There are a lot of violent scenes and graphic sex. Be sure to look at trigger warnings.

If you like stories of a very dark nature that have writing that's from one of the best authors in the genre, move this title to your TBR list. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

There was so much good in this yummy dark romance, though there were a few negatives. I loved the hard-ass but brittle main character, Whisper Grey. And there isn't much I can say about Liam Slater, except where can I get one? Bad-ass, big, protective, yet good hearted… yeah, I want one.  The setting is imaginary but realistic. I could see it as if I grew up in Havensea myself. The ploy feels familiar yet new. Nympho Falling is a fast, easy read.

With all the good, I hate to point out the bad. It's a multiple single POV, which leads the reader to know practically the whole plotline, even though it's a cliffhanger ending. There are a couple inconsistencies that are minor, but if you look past those the story is great.

I've never read anything by this author. I'd love to read the next one, but due to the information I've already been given, I pretty much know the ending, so I won't die if I don't.  Overall, if you like dark romance, MC romance, or broken characters, you'll enjoy this book.

I’m in two minds about this book. It has some major issues but it’s also so readable. I wanted to know what was going to happen, while at the same time not loving the writing style. I have no knowledge of the author but Cane has to be a man. The viewpoint of a lot of the characters was screaming male to me. There’s a character called DeeDee who is “crazy”. We know this because she refuses to wear pants and has her hoohah out for the world to see. She actually became my favourite and no harm better come to her!!
The whole book gave me the vibes of the movie Sin City. The whole streets are dangerous, stripper can kill, growling hero. Even the way it was written in short staccato sentences felt like something a narrator would read.
Honestly there are people who won’t like this book. I’m kinda one of them, but I’m so caught up in the story I’m going to continue. This series could be the next After for me. I hated that series but it was a train wreck I couldn’t get off.

Whisper has to be one of my favourite female main characters I've read in a while. She has been abused for years and made to think things of herself that simply aren't true (although even if they were, so what? liking sex isn't a crime).
When her boyfriend dumps her, she finds herself at the mercy of Slater, a former MC president and stripclub owner.
They fall fast for each other, so if instalove isn't your thing, you might want to skip this.
The two have chemistry between them and while he does mess around before, once he gets a bit of Whisper, he's done - she's it for him.
I was sucked into this story and hated when I was disturbed while reading.
It does end on a cliffhanger though and I can't wait for the next book!.

Wow this had me hooked right from the start. The mystery behind the events surrounding Whisper being suddenly dumped on the streets by Marco and then being rescued by Slater, owner of a strip club and ex-MC prez, from getting gang raped. I loved that she had mad skills with her trusty pocket knife so can certainly take care of herself for the most part. She ends up in accomodation with a crazy girl, Deedee and it’s a situation after situation the whole way through. The tension and pace of the story as we learn new bits of information from all the different characters makes you guess who can you really trust, who is sincere and who is playing a game. Even though this ended on a cliffhanger, it was one that left you OK with where it ended until the next book.

I received this ARC from BookSirens and I can’t wait for the next book to see what happens.

A really good, fast-paced, pretty quick read. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down! There's loads of suspense that'll have have you hanging on tight. The spice is spot on and fire hot. My only critique is the authors writing style- she tends to use ALOT of broken sentences to add descriptions to her scenes. (ie: Leaves with Jace…, That she always has shelter in my arms., etc.) I'm still highly invested in this saga and plan to finish out the series because it's a gripping, intriguing storyline. It is a dark romance containing a load of triggers, so proceed with caution, especially since there's no content warnings listed anywhere in the book that I'm aware of. If you like dark, mafia-style romance then this may be a book for you.

I always love finding new to me authors, especially those whose books I can fall into and this is one of those books. As the author states Nympho Fallen is a dark story and it's not for the faint of heart. There's the bada*^ Liam and then Whisper, who's really a very strong woman it's just taking her a minute to find that person again after all she's been through. This book does end on a cliffhanger and while im not a fan of cliffhangers, there's enough meat to this story overall that it's not a real hinderance to the story itself. I enjoyed Nympho Fallen and I can't wait to read more

Wow!!! Must Read to appreciate!

Nympho Fallen is the first book that I've read from Casey Cane and was not disappointed. The storyline and character development takes you on a page turning journey that I couldn't put down and will be starting book 2 upon completing this review.

Slater aka The Phoenix is a hard core MC (ex?) Prez who doesn't do feelings and could have any woman he wants. Whisper is dropped off on the streets and crosses paths with Slater and the hot sexiness begins.

Quick read but developed to where you can see the scenes jump off the page. Off to book 2 I go!!!

I really enjoyed this book it’s dark and gritty and I love that Whisper is trying to become a strong badass female again after going through so very dark experiences. I feel this book is a great starts to this series it’s a great induction to all the main characters and it set the scene of what’s to come so well. That ending was a good plot twist for me that I didn’t see it coming and I can’t wait for the next book.

Wow, this book left me speechless. This book is dark and will test you will power. I love Whisper and the journey she is on definitely has twists and turns. I must say the author did an excellent job in laying the foundation of this first book. I loved learning about Whisper and knowing that she is versatile is a plus. I’m also curious to know more about Slater and his nickname. Most of all I’m curious to know how Whisper will react once she knows the truth.

Couldn’t Put this Book Down

This is the first time I have read something from this author, but now I need to read more, alot more! This book grabbed me from the first page. There are many dark themes interwoven into the plot and the depth of the story is amazing. This to me is more than just a dark romance. This is a story of resiliency and survival. I love the characters and can’t wait to get the second book because this one ends on a cliffhanger that will leave you gasping!

I liked this story. I first thought that it would be a quick story, focused on the main characters, without much details on the story. I was quite a mistaken. The story develops beautifully allowing you to see, in a relatively short amount of time, how Whisper finds her strength and her self worth. The intrigue builds gradually and by the time I reached the end, I was obsessed! I can't wait to read the next installment. Epic Cliffhanger - Beware

Wow! This first installment in this dark romance kept me glued to the pages and on the edge of my seat. Even though I could tell I was racing for an epic cliffhanger, I kept turning pages hoping to find out more before the book ran out of words.

Whisper and Slater are both damaged and dark in their own ways, but collide in a beautiful instant love that together with the pitfalls of the dark world they live in make for an extremely well written and gripping story that leaves you desperate for book 2!

This author is new to me and am so glad I found them. I will say this is a dark and twisted tale but it’s worth it. Slater left his club and started over. He owns a strip club but his past is always coming back. The same for Whisper. Her past keeps coming back as well and then they find each other. Can they get past all the horrible stuff to find happiness? This story is engaging and kept me from minute one. I am dying for more.

From the first page, you’re involved with Whisper and what’s happened to her so far. It deals with all different ways sex is involved in relationships, both good and bad. The characters are believable and it definitely shows the seedier side of life. However, there’s hope that decency will pay off, so I was gutted when I got to the end and realised that this was just part one. Cannot wait for part two - Phoenix Enraged

Whisper has been through the wringer, picked up, dusted off, then used & abused. For anyone else being kicked to the kerb with nothing but the clothes on their back would have been the final straw, but they aren’t Whisper, she’s given another chance and things are going well, until they’re not… who can she trust … who should she trust …
Major cliff hanger, I can’t sit to find out what happens next.

Fast paced

Wow what a start to a series. If this book is anything to go on I know I’m going to lose my mind with the rest of the series. I loved the depth and detail given to the trauma in this book and how it was respected. Slater is just pure fire 🔥 I really enjoyed seeing Whisper shine and show she isn’t just a weak gutter girl. Although that little plot twist with marco has me all kinds of crazy nervous - the connection to Dez is gonna hurt when revealed for sure.

I don't know I just felt disconnected from the characters and the book. I usually like bad guys who show some vulnerability but Slater has none and Whisper does not bring out the compassion in me. I am grateful to have received a free copy and my opinions are my own and should not deter you from reading this book.
